(00:00:06) emotional or psychological stress we (00:00:08) also know that people become addicted to (00:00:10) the stress hormones to those emotions (00:00:12) and then they need the bad job they need (00:00:13) the bad relationship they need the (00:00:15) traffic they need the news just so that (00:00:17) they can stay in that emotional state (00:00:19) but now you're headed for disease (00:00:21) because no organism can live in (00:00:22) emergency mode for that extended period (00:00:24) of time but I literally can give people (00:00:26) the tools to be able to break those (00:00:28) emotional addictions and our data shows (00:00:30) it works better than any drug Dr Joe (00:00:33) dispenza is a world leading voice on the (00:00:35) power of the Mind whose groundbreaking (00:00:37) research has unlocked a practical (00:00:38) formula to empower millions of people to (00:00:40) rewire their minds and create (00:00:42) longlasting change if I'm looking to (00:00:44) change my life because it's in this (00:00:45) horrible cycle of the same old same old (00:00:47) and I feel about myself what do I need (00:00:49) to know I think that the first thing is (00:00:51) you can't tell me that your past was so (00:00:53) brutal that you can't change cuz we have (00:00:55) seen people with some really really (00:00:57) horrible pasts abuses difficult (00:00:59) childhoods some very serious traumas we (00:01:02) have seen them change that belief and (00:01:04) become completely different people but (00:01:06) also the research shows that 50% of the (00:01:08) story We Tell in our past isn't even the (00:01:10) truth that means that people are (00:01:12) reliving a miserable life they never (00:01:13) even had just to excuse themselves from (00:01:15) changing or they wait for something to (00:01:17) go wrong in their life and that's when (00:01:19) they go okay I'm ready to change why (00:01:21) wait for that you know we can learn and (00:01:23) change in a saate of pain and suffering (00:01:25) can learn and change in a state of joy (00:01:26) and inspiration and so I want to provide (00:01:28) people the information how to make new (00:01:31) Connections in their brain and be able (00:01:33) to think act and feel differently in (00:01:35) your same environment so let's break it (00:01:39) down this has always blown my mind a (00:01:41) little bit 53% of you that listen to the (00:01:44) show regularly haven't yet subscribed to (00:01:46) the show so could I ask you for a favor (00:01:48) before we start if you like the show and (00:01:49) you like what we do here and you want to (00:01:51) support us the free simple way that you (00:01:52) can do just that is by hitting the (00:01:54) Subscribe button and my commitment to (00:01:56) you is if you do that then I'll do (00:01:57) everything in my power me and my team to (00:01:59) make sure that this show is better for (00:02:01) you every single week we'll listen to (00:02:02) your feedback we'll find the guests that (00:02:04) you want me to speak to and we'll (00:02:06) continue to do what we do thank you so (00:02:08) [Music] (00:02:11) much Dr Joe how do you define when (00:02:14) someone asks you what it is you do I (00:02:18) teach people uh the neuroscience and the (00:02:21) biology of what it really means to (00:02:23) change and I think when we change our (00:02:26) life changes so my interest is to (00:02:29) demystify that process so that people (00:02:33) have within their reach the tools to (00:02:35) make measurable changes in their lives (00:02:37) and what is that you're drawing upon (00:02:40) what experiences what studies what (00:02:41) research you drawing upon to give the (00:02:44) world these Solutions I was interested (00:02:47) really in the transcendental experience (00:02:50) the transcendental moment um so when (00:02:54) when I started teaching this work um I (00:02:57) taught the work because people were (00:02:59) asking how do you do it like how do you (00:03:01) change your life and what does it mean (00:03:02) to change and (00:03:05) so I want to provide people the (00:03:08) information uh where they can actually (00:03:11) learn the information make new (00:03:12) Connections in their brain that's what (00:03:14) learning is repeat what they've learned (00:03:16) to the person next to them you know (00:03:18) build a model of understanding so you (00:03:19) can remember it remind yourself what (00:03:22) you've learned because it's so much (00:03:23) easier forget this information then to (00:03:26) remember it so create a new level of (00:03:28) mind um take away all the doubt the (00:03:31) conjecture the Superstition the (00:03:33) dogma and so that the person can (00:03:36) actually understand what they're doing (00:03:39) and why they're doing so the how gets (00:03:41) easier and when the how gets easier we (00:03:44) assign meaning to the act because we (00:03:46) understand what we're doing and when we (00:03:47) do that we want a greater outcome so I (00:03:49) want to give people the information and (00:03:51) I com I looked at all the latest (00:03:53) research that pointed the finger at (00:03:55) human potential and human (00:03:57) possibility I had my own personal (00:03:59) experience with a personal injury we (00:04:01) talked about it last time I studied (00:04:03) spontaneous remissions I wanted to see (00:04:05) what people had in common with each (00:04:06) other and I couldn't find the (00:04:10) explanation pretty much in contemporary (00:04:13) uh uh texts I had to start looking at (00:04:16) neuroplasticity and epigenetics and then (00:04:18) I wanted to see well now that I know (00:04:20) what people did and I understood what (00:04:22) they did to have their own personal (00:04:24) healings and (00:04:25) transformation um could I reproduce the (00:04:28) effects that no knowing what they did (00:04:31) finding out what the commonalities were (00:04:34) uh putting it in the language of Science (00:04:36) and then teaching it to people they (00:04:38) could be sick or they could be well it (00:04:40) wouldn't matter but understand what they (00:04:42) did in order for them to change and have (00:04:44) their life change and after a couple (00:04:46) years of teaching it we started to see (00:04:49) kind of the same type of effects uh in (00:04:52) those people that were applying and (00:04:54) doing something with it so so this is a (00:04:56) time in history where it's not enough to (00:04:58) know this is a time in history to know (00:05:00) how so when we started seeing people (00:05:04) stepping out of wheelchairs and having (00:05:06) dramatic changes in their health I knew (00:05:10) that in some moment uh during the (00:05:12) retreat or during their (00:05:15) meditation (00:05:16) that something happened to them they had (00:05:19) an experience inwardly that must have (00:05:22) changed them biologically in other words (00:05:24) if you come into a an event and uh you (00:05:27) have three days to be together and at (00:05:29) the end of three days you're you're no (00:05:30) longer in your wheelchair and you no (00:05:32) longer have symptoms of MS that you know (00:05:35) the the human being in me said wow (00:05:36) that's amazing the scientists and me (00:05:39) said how like how did that (00:05:41) happen so that's when we started doing (00:05:43) our own independent research and that's (00:05:45) when I started calling in N scientists (00:05:47) and um you know biologists and and (00:05:50) Quantum physicists and and and really (00:05:54) scientists to measuring it heart rate (00:05:57) variability uh to look to see what was (00:06:00) going on uh in people that were coming (00:06:02) to our events so I could answer the (00:06:04) question by saying now that the majority (00:06:07) of the (00:06:08) research uh that I look at is our own (00:06:11) personal research and we have the (00:06:12) largest (00:06:13) database uh in the world now on (00:06:15) meditation and the Mind Body Connection (00:06:18) and what we do is we really work on (00:06:21) demystifying the process of change and (00:06:24) transformation and if we're able to (00:06:26) demystify it I think all the all of the (00:06:31) measurements of the transformation that (00:06:33) we're seeing is more information for me (00:06:35) to teach transformation better and I (00:06:37) think that's how we close the gap (00:06:38) between knowledge and experience so we (00:06:40) have a huge research team we work with (00:06:42) UC San Diego we work with other (00:06:44) universities like Harvard Stanford and (00:06:48) the data is so compelling uh and the (00:06:51) data is so amazing uh that um uh I think (00:06:55) we're making scientific history right (00:06:57) now hundreds of millions of people have (00:06:59) been drawn to you for their own reasons (00:07:01) my partner is one of them my girlfriend (00:07:02) she has attended your events she's she's (00:07:05) one of your biggest fans in the world (00:07:06) and she's experienced her own (00:07:07) transformation as a product of attending (00:07:09) your events but also last conversation (00:07:11) if I look at the co top comments it's (00:07:13) just a string of testimonials from (00:07:15) people who have been engaged with your (00:07:16) work for decades who have had personal (00:07:18) transformation in their life in their (00:07:19) family what is the essence of why people (00:07:23) come to you like if you think about the (00:07:24) hundreds of millions of people that have (00:07:25) interacted with your work what do they (00:07:28) have in common what is it they're (00:07:29) looking for people come for all kinds of (00:07:32) reasons the Baseline is that they (00:07:34) understand on some level that that (00:07:36) meditation can change their body and (00:07:38) change their life some people uh (00:07:42) understand that there's a that they (00:07:43) could have mystical experiences without (00:07:45) using any exogenous substances so we (00:07:48) have people to come that come that want (00:07:50) to heal their body that want to have a (00:07:52) new job or a new career or become (00:07:55) abundant people that want to have loving (00:07:57) relationships some people want to have (00:07:58) mystical experiences whatever that is (00:08:01) right but the person is coming with the (00:08:03) intention of actually creating exactly (00:08:05) what they want so they that's the that's (00:08:09) what they think they're there for but in (00:08:13) time um what they're really coming for (00:08:16) is to change uh and um even the people (00:08:20) who heal from all kinds of health (00:08:23) conditions what I learned in the last (00:08:25) couple years is they're not doing their (00:08:27) meditations to heal they're doing their (00:08:29) meditations to change and when they (00:08:31) change they heal and so what they begin (00:08:35) to Crave is the next unknown experience (00:08:38) you know that that experience that (00:08:40) exists really Beyond three-dimensional (00:08:42) reality but but I would say that the (00:08:44) majority of people come for a particular (00:08:47) reason and after a period of time they (00:08:49) just want to get more whole and I don't (00:08:50) think there's an end to that is there a (00:08:52) bug in our minds or in our society or (00:08:54) within culture that stands in the way of (00:08:56) our ability to change and I think as I (00:08:59) asked that question question what I'm (00:09:00) really trying to get at is there's a (00:09:01) culture that's emerged almost like a bit (00:09:03) of a trauma culture where we we kind of (00:09:06) explain who we are based on what's (00:09:07) happened to us and it seems to be (00:09:09) justified I this thing happened when I (00:09:11) was a kid and that's why I am this way (00:09:14) is that approach to viewing our trauma (00:09:16) productive or unproductive and is it a (00:09:19) problem the stronger the emotion we feel (00:09:23) from some event in our life a trauma a (00:09:27) betrayal a loss a shock (00:09:30) um a (00:09:31) diagnosis the the event produces an (00:09:35) emotional response and the high quotient (00:09:39) of the emotional response changes our (00:09:42) internal State and the moment we feel (00:09:44) altered inside of us the brain takes a (00:09:47) snapshot freezes a frame or a series of (00:09:50) frames and takes snapshots and that's (00:09:52) called a long-term (00:09:54) memory so then from a biological (00:09:57) perspective every time the person rememb (00:10:00) the problem they're producing the exact (00:10:03) same chemistry in their brain and body (00:10:06) as if the event was happening cortisol (00:10:08) the adrenaline whatever the emotion is (00:10:11) when they feel that emotion we could say (00:10:13) then that the body is reliving the event (00:10:17) emotionally 50 to 100 times in a day so (00:10:23) the trauma is no longer in the brain at (00:10:25) that point now the trauma is also in the (00:10:27) body because thoughts are the language (00:10:29) of the brain brain and feelings are the (00:10:31) language of the body and it's that (00:10:33) thought and that feeling it's that image (00:10:35) and that emotion it's that stimulus and (00:10:37) response that's conditioning the body (00:10:40) subconsciously to become the mind of (00:10:42) that emotion and now that person (00:10:45) emotionally is a brand branded into the (00:10:47) past and you can say to them why are you (00:10:50) this way why are you so angry why are (00:10:53) you so bitter why are you so mistrusting (00:10:55) why are you so afraid and they'll say to (00:10:58) you I am this way (00:11:01) because of these events or that event (00:11:03) that happened to me in my life 20 or 30 (00:11:05) years ago now this is kind of an (00:11:07) interesting thing because in a sense (00:11:10) their (00:11:11) identity is completely connected to (00:11:15) their past and they as long as they feel (00:11:18) that (00:11:19) emotion uh they'll always remember the (00:11:22) past so (00:11:24) now the body is so objective when it (00:11:27) feels that emotion it does not know the (00:11:30) difference between the real life (00:11:31) experience that's creating the emotion (00:11:33) and the emotion that person is (00:11:35) fabricating by thought alone so now the (00:11:37) body's believing it's living in the past (00:11:39) event 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 (00:11:42) days a year but what the person is (00:11:43) really saying is after that event I (00:11:46) haven't been able to (00:11:47) change that's what they're saying and (00:11:51) so that becomes the person's identity (00:11:54) and there's nothing wrong with this but (00:11:57) you'll never hear me say uh in any of (00:12:00) the work that we do uh go back and (00:12:02) process the past (00:12:05) um uh we we've discovered that when a (00:12:08) person (00:12:09) analyzes uh their problems uh within the (00:12:13) emotions of the past they make their (00:12:15) brain worse they actually drive it (00:12:17) further out of balance they're they're (00:12:19) over arousing it we discovered is that (00:12:23) if the person can get beyond the (00:12:26) emotion truly get beyond the emotion (00:12:30) uh they'll free themselves from the past (00:12:32) and what we discovered is that if you (00:12:35) teach a person to give up the (00:12:37) fear the bitterness the resentment the (00:12:41) frustration the impatience the Judgment (00:12:44) you say stop feeling that emotion I know (00:12:45) there's a reason why I'm sure (00:12:47) everybody's got a story right so but (00:12:51) there's nothing that's going to change (00:12:53) that story until you change right and so (00:12:56) we discovered that if you trade those (00:12:58) emotions (00:13:00) for an elevated emotion if you start (00:13:03) feeling gratitude and appreciation and (00:13:06) love and kindness and care and you (00:13:08) practice feeling that emotion we give (00:13:10) you some tools to to use to change your (00:13:14) breathing to put your attention a a (00:13:15) different place and to work with your (00:13:18) body what we discovered is when the (00:13:20) person can truly begin to open their (00:13:22) heart and we have brain scans on this (00:13:25) when the heart begins to open and it (00:13:27) begins to become coherent in other words (00:13:29) when you're feel feeling uh frustration (00:13:32) or impatience or judgment your heart is (00:13:34) beating very incoherently when you're (00:13:36) feeling love and gratitude kindness and (00:13:38) Care there's a rhythm there's a there's (00:13:40) a Cadence that the heart has that's it's (00:13:43) very coherent when the heart gets (00:13:45) coherent we measure (00:13:47) this it immediately informs the brain (00:13:50) that the trauma is over the heart tells (00:13:53) the brain the past is over the event is (00:13:55) over and it resets the (00:13:57) Baseline uh in the brain and so now the (00:14:00) person when they look back at their past (00:14:04) they're no longer looking at it from the (00:14:06) same level of Consciousness in fact many (00:14:09) of them will say oh my God I needed to (00:14:12) go through all of that to get to this (00:14:15) point right here they'll tell you they (00:14:17) they'll they'll say I wouldn't want to (00:14:19) change one thing in my past because it (00:14:22) got me to the present moment okay (00:14:25) so we work with Navy Seals special ops (00:14:29) prisoners we work with people uh that (00:14:32) have had some very serious traumas (00:14:35) really serious abuses uh um uh just (00:14:40) difficult childhoods uh these people are (00:14:43) you know night terrors uh (00:14:46) suicidal um can't you know leave their (00:14:49) homes uh socially (00:14:51) uh having trouble panic attacks it's (00:14:54) kind of funny because the moment that (00:14:57) person actually breaks through from the (00:15:00) emotion and the words they typically (00:15:03) describe was they say was like my heart (00:15:06) exploded it's like my heart blew wide (00:15:09) open the moment that happens they're (00:15:12) bringing their body right out of the (00:15:14) past right into the present moment and (00:15:18) lo and behold many times there goes the (00:15:20) anxiety there goes the depression there (00:15:22) goes the cyclic mood patterns somehow (00:15:24) the body uh gets recalibrated back into (00:15:26) order back into homeostasis so (00:15:30) the point I'm making is is that the (00:15:32) memory without the emotional charge is (00:15:34) called wisdom and now you're you're (00:15:36) ready for the next adventure in your (00:15:38) life the soul can't go to the next (00:15:41) adventure if it's holding on to the past (00:15:44) so we don't really ever address the (00:15:46) story because the story is only firing (00:15:49) and wiring the same circuits in the (00:15:51) brain reaffirming the identity to the (00:15:53) Past just to feel the same emotion and (00:15:55) the research shows that 50% of the story (00:15:58) We Tell in our past is is even the truth (00:16:01) that means that people are reliving a (00:16:02) miserable life they never even had just (00:16:05) to excuse themselves from changing right (00:16:07) I'm not taking shots at anybody but what (00:16:10) I am saying is you can't tell me that (00:16:13) your past was so brutal that you can't (00:16:15) change CU we have seen people with some (00:16:17) really really horrible pasts um that (00:16:20) literally literally are are completely (00:16:22) different people that have completely (00:16:23) different lives I really want to focus (00:16:25) in on what it is we're getting wrong (00:16:27) when we're trying to treat trauma in (00:16:30) modern society because I see all of (00:16:32) these Retreats that are like inner child (00:16:35) healing and they kind of take you back (00:16:38) to when you were a young child the thing (00:16:39) that happened to you whatever happened (00:16:40) in your life and they kind of walk you (00:16:42) back through it um there's also various (00:16:45) types of therapy that make you kind of (00:16:47) recount the events and then they ask you (00:16:49) questions about it you're saying that (00:16:50) you don't feel like those approaches are (00:16:52) optimal because they just keep you in (00:16:54) that circuit of living reliving the (00:16:55) emotion no I I wouldn't say they're not (00:16:57) optimal I mean I'm sure there's value (00:16:59) for people all I'm saying is that um (00:17:02) when does the story end and I'm not (00:17:05) certain that (00:17:07) Insight changes Behavior you could have (00:17:10) a realization or even from an exogenous (00:17:13) drug you can have a realization or an (00:17:15) Insight but if you still can't function (00:17:17) in your life and you're still you know (00:17:19) you're haven't connected with your wife (00:17:20) or you know you're still dealing with (00:17:22) trauma it just hasn't served you at all (00:17:24) like so the Insight that your your (00:17:26) father was overbearing or your mother (00:17:29) was a perfectionist or you were beaten (00:17:31) as a kid uh and that's why you're this (00:17:33) way it doesn't change the behavior let (00:17:35) me give you an example then from my life (00:17:36) because this will make it really (00:17:37) specific so when I was young something (00:17:39) I've talked about on the show but it's (00:17:40) just an example that allows me to Think (00:17:41) Through um your approach my mom and dad (00:17:45) argued a lot and I would watch my mother (00:17:47) in particular spend a lot of time (00:17:50) shouting at my dad my dad didn't really (00:17:52) respond he was very passive and it made (00:17:54) me feel a certain way as a young child (00:17:56) which meant that when I grew up I just (00:17:58) wanted to avoid women all cost in terms (00:17:59) of romantic commitment because I was (00:18:02) almost reliving the emotion of (00:18:05) imprisonment that I observed in my (00:18:06) father so I felt like when a girl was (00:18:08) interested in me throughout all of my (00:18:10) teen years throughout my early 20s even (00:18:11) if I was interested in her the minute we (00:18:13) came to Commitment I'd get that feeling (00:18:15) like I was signing up for prison and I (00:18:18) would reject now I got an insight into (00:18:21) this by writing in my diary actually (00:18:23) from doing this podcast because I used (00:18:24) to do it on my own just solo episodes (00:18:26) and I could see a pattern I could see (00:18:27) that someone asks me to commit I get (00:18:30) this weird feeling I reject them and (00:18:32) then I asked myself where did that weird (00:18:34) feeling come from in your past and I (00:18:36) remembered oh that's how I felt watching (00:18:39) my father and my mom when she would just (00:18:42) um scream at him for long periods of (00:18:44) time I had the Insight which was (00:18:46) somewhat useful but you're right in that (00:18:48) it didn't necessarily stop stop the (00:18:50) feeling but but what you did really well (00:18:53) is is in order for us to (00:18:56) change we have to become so conscious (00:19:00) of those unconscious beliefs and what's (00:19:01) a belief thought you just keep thinking (00:19:03) over and over again or how you've been (00:19:05) programmed right as a belief we have to (00:19:07) become so aware of our automatic habits (00:19:10) and behaviors and we have to pay (00:19:13) attention to our emotional states if (00:19:14) we're going to change and staying (00:19:16) conscious of our unconscious self is is (00:19:18) is really the the work that it takes to (00:19:21) really overcome so you can become (00:19:23) another person that's 95% of a person by (00:19:27) the the middle of their life their you (00:19:29) know hardwired attitudes beliefs and (00:19:32) perceptions automatic habits and (00:19:34) behaviors and unconscious emotional (00:19:36) responses 95% of us as programmed so as (00:19:38) a child your brain waves are um very (00:19:41) slow the door between the conscious mind (00:19:43) and the subconscious mind is wide open (00:19:45) your brain waves are in Alpha and Theta (00:19:48) and so you're very suggestible to to the (00:19:50) information and so your exposure to that (00:19:54) cause you to learn that that you know (00:19:56) your observation causes you to get (00:19:57) programmed to that the way life is by by (00:20:01) Mir neurons looking at behaviors that (00:20:04) are being programmed in you so so but (00:20:07) that's not who you are right so the fact (00:20:10) that you became conscious like oh my God (00:20:12) I do this oh my God I see where I got it (00:20:15) from okay that doesn't mean that that (00:20:18) I'm going to excuse myself and say I (00:20:19) can't be in relationships you could some (00:20:21) people do that might be a different (00:20:23) belief but they do that but you said I (00:20:26) really want to have a meaningful (00:20:28) relationship I really want to overcome (00:20:29) this that is part of me that I want to (00:20:31) change right so so you recognize that (00:20:34) that's called metacognition right the (00:20:36) the fact that you can objectify your (00:20:39) subjective self and observe yourself (00:20:41) that's Consciousness right and when (00:20:43) you're conscious then that's when you're (00:20:44) not (00:20:45) unconscious and being unconscious is (00:20:47) being in the program so how many times (00:20:50) do we have to forget until we stop (00:20:51) forgetting and start remembering that's (00:20:53) the moment of change so you said okay (00:20:55) that's (00:20:56) uncomfortable that must mean something (00:20:59) and you actually went on a a personal (00:21:01) exploration yeah do something with the (00:21:05) Insight with the provocation with the (00:21:07) interest of actually wanting to change (00:21:09) yourself in some way so that you create (00:21:12) a a greater experience of life that (00:21:16) there is love in life and that you can (00:21:17) have a committed relationship and it (00:21:19) could be different from your parents and (00:21:21) now you know what you're not going to be (00:21:23) right so I think all of that is valuable (00:21:26) I think every experience that we have in (00:21:29) our life that programs us to be a (00:21:32) certain way sooner or later if we're if (00:21:35) we're interested in arriving at the (00:21:37) goals and dreams that we want there's we (00:21:39) have to leave that behind sooner or (00:21:41) later a part of us Must Die uh as sooner (00:21:44) or later we have to leave that so I (00:21:46) think you I think that's that's (00:21:48) Evolution that first is the first step (00:21:51) Insight like is this a a sequential (00:21:54) multi-step process to change I think (00:21:57) that I think Insight is an AS ECT of um (00:22:00) awareness so is awareness States yeah so (00:22:03) Consciousness is awareness and awareness (00:22:05) is paying attention and (00:22:07) noticing so I think that I think the (00:22:09) first step is to become conscious um (00:22:13) that we're a certain way and sometimes (00:22:15) it lands as an Insight or a download or (00:22:18) a life experience that just kind of goes (00:22:20) you go wo like you know so I I I behaved (00:22:24) this way or I did this thing so so I (00:22:27) think I think when you you don't have (00:22:29) that you don't have a conscience and you (00:22:31) can just and you can just keep staying (00:22:33) in that world and but but sooner or (00:22:35) later uh you have to become aware how do (00:22:37) I increase my awareness by paying (00:22:40) attention is there a practice or a (00:22:43) system or a process yeah yeah but (00:22:48) what what we know is that that the the (00:22:51) more you practice being present the (00:22:54) better you get at it okay and so how do (00:22:57) you do that if you sit in a meditation (00:23:00) right and so there's a mode in the brain (00:23:02) called default mode and it's just always (00:23:05) busy it's consuming enormous amounts of (00:23:07) energy in the brain and it's always (00:23:09) trying to predict the future based on (00:23:12) what it knows in the past it's a kind of (00:23:13) an anticipation machine it's always (00:23:16) trying to um fill in a known in reality (00:23:20) so we feel safe (00:23:23) so a default mode system in the brain (00:23:26) when you close your eyes on a meditation (00:23:28) is going going to immediately go into (00:23:30) overdrive it's going to say oh my back (00:23:32) hurts a little bit I'm kind of thirsty (00:23:34) how long's this going to go I really (00:23:35) don't want to do this I don't like the (00:23:37) music you know uh is it's might be too (00:23:39) long oh I'm starting to get a little (00:23:41) frustrated I want to lay down you know (00:23:42) all this stuff comes up and then people (00:23:44) have the belief and they say I can't (00:23:46) meditate that's that's their conclusion (00:23:49) from The Experience that's their I'm not (00:23:51) a good meditator that's their (00:23:52) affirmation that's their belief right (00:23:55) from that experience but if you say to a (00:23:56) person listen that's normal (00:23:59) but every time you catch (00:24:01) yourself going unconscious catch (00:24:04) yourself going unconscious and become (00:24:07) conscious that's a (00:24:09) victory and as tedious as it may be in (00:24:13) the (00:24:14) beginning the more you catch yourself (00:24:16) going unconscious and becoming conscious (00:24:18) the more conscious you become in your (00:24:19) life and and all of a sudden you begin (00:24:22) to pay attention to things that you (00:24:24) weren't paying attention to before so in (00:24:28) the work that we do we say that being in (00:24:31) the present moment truly in the present (00:24:33) moment is being comfortable in the (00:24:36) unknown right the present moment is the (00:24:39) unknown because there is the familiar (00:24:41) past that we feel emotionally and we (00:24:43) have the predictable future which are (00:24:46) both the (00:24:47) knowns being the present moment is being (00:24:49) the unknown and that goes against (00:24:51) thousands of years of programming (00:24:53) because our biology is programmed that (00:24:57) if we are truly the unknown we should be (00:25:00) in survival because if you're in (00:25:02) survival and you're in the fight ORF (00:25:04) flight system the unknown is a threat (00:25:06) it's a danger so always try to predict (00:25:09) the future based on the past and you'll (00:25:11) have better chances of survival predict (00:25:14) the worst case scenario be ready for (00:25:16) that anything less that happens you have (00:25:18) better chance of (00:25:19) surviving so then to rest in the unknown (00:25:23) goes against a lot of our biology and we (00:25:26) discovered that when a person keeps (00:25:28) doing it over and over again the body (00:25:30) gets agitated it gets frustrated it gets (00:25:33) impatient instead of the person saying I (00:25:35) quit give them something to do and they (00:25:38) can lower the volume to the emotion and (00:25:41) settle the animal down like training an (00:25:43) animal setting settling the body back (00:25:46) down into the present moment we we teach (00:25:49) people how to do that and that's the (00:25:50) victory giving them something to do yeah (00:25:52) they have it they have something to do (00:25:54) when that comes up okay which is I I'll (00:25:56) get to it in a second and if they catch (00:25:59) their mind going from a person to (00:26:01) another person to another object to (00:26:02) their cell phone to their computer to a (00:26:04) place they need to be and you know a (00:26:06) time and know their they catch (00:26:08) themselves with their brain firing in (00:26:11) modulated (00:26:12) compartments if they keep catching (00:26:15) themselves doing that if they keep doing (00:26:17) that and they they catch the circuit (00:26:19) when it's firing and they settle it down (00:26:21) in time sooner later they're going to (00:26:23) stop firing those circuits in the brain (00:26:26) and their brain waves begin to change (00:26:28) change from an agitated aroused State (00:26:32) into a more coherent and slower brain (00:26:34) wave state so when they do this enough (00:26:37) times the brain begins to synchronize (00:26:39) the brain begins to fire in Greater (00:26:41) levels of wholeness or greater levels of (00:26:44) order so when that occurs then the (00:26:47) nervous system gets very regulated gets (00:26:50) very orderly the autonomic nervous (00:26:51) system moves into a state of (00:26:53) regulation disregulation of the (00:26:55) autonomic nervous system is called (00:26:57) stress right so so to answer your (00:27:01) question when people do this really well (00:27:05) in just a few days they'll get really (00:27:07) good at it the side effect of that is (00:27:09) they get very relaxed in their heart (00:27:11) it's relaxed in the heart and it's awake (00:27:14) in the brain and the more relaxed you (00:27:16) get in your heart we've discovered (00:27:18) really relaxing into your heart the more (00:27:21) the heart informs the brain to get (00:27:23) creative and so now the person has this (00:27:26) kind of synchronization that's taking (00:27:27) place between their part in their brain (00:27:29) as well and they can rest in the present (00:27:33) moment (00:27:35) so the way you do that is you define (00:27:41) what it really means to change and to (00:27:43) change is to be greater than the (00:27:45) conditions in your environment to be (00:27:48) able to think act and feel differently (00:27:51) in your same environment that's what (00:27:53) change is to change is to be greater (00:27:56) than your body to be greater than its Dy (00:27:58) lives in the meditation I'm speaking (00:28:00) specifically greater than its emotional (00:28:04) responses its memories its emotional (00:28:07) reactions greater than its habits The (00:28:09) Habit is when you've done something so (00:28:11) many times the body knows how to do it (00:28:13) better than the conscious mind there (00:28:14) that's so so if you're sitting in a (00:28:16) meditation your body wants to get up and (00:28:18) wants to get going and got people to see (00:28:19) things to do that's kind of like (00:28:21) automatic right and people get up and (00:28:24) they say I can't meditate but if you (00:28:25) tell them that when you notice that you (00:28:28) bring your body back into the present (00:28:31) moment you settle it down and tell it (00:28:34) it's no longer the mind that you're the (00:28:35) mind you're training the animal sooner (00:28:37) or later the body literally responds to (00:28:40) a new mind and there's literally a (00:28:42) liberation of energy the body begins to (00:28:44) liberate energy and if the person's not (00:28:46) thinking about time if you're not (00:28:49) thinking about where you need to be (00:28:51) where you need to go where you were (00:28:53) yesterday where you're sitting where you (00:28:55) live you know if you're not thinking (00:28:58) about any place you can go from (00:29:00) somewhere to nowhere and if you're not (00:29:02) thinking about the predictable future or (00:29:04) the familiar past you can go from (00:29:06) sometime to no time and we discovered (00:29:08) when a person becomes nobody no one no (00:29:11) thing nowhere and no time they literally (00:29:14) become pure Consciousness and opening (00:29:17) our awareness I know this is kind of (00:29:20) difficult to explain because we're (00:29:22) materialists opening our awareness to (00:29:26) nothing and sensing space (00:29:29) tends to cause us to move more into the (00:29:33) Eternal present moment and there's a (00:29:35) change that takes place in the brain so (00:29:37) we teach that and what awareness comes (00:29:40) out of that state so if I'm looking to (00:29:42) change my life because you know I'm (00:29:44) continually performing habits that are (00:29:46) not optimal you know I want to be (00:29:48) married and have a family and I want to (00:29:50) be productive in my work and I want to (00:29:52) go to the gym and Etc and my life is (00:29:54) just in this horrible cycle of the same (00:29:56) old same old same old and I feel (00:29:58) about about myself I know what I say I (00:30:00) want but I feel about myself what's (00:30:03) going to emerge from that process of (00:30:05) deep meditation in ter of awareness (00:30:08) you'll become so conscious of those (00:30:10) unconscious habits that more than likely (00:30:13) you won't want to do them again and (00:30:15) that's what uh uh for the most part (00:30:17) change is about so I think (00:30:20) people wait for crisis you know they (00:30:23) wait for disease they wait for a (00:30:25) betrayal something to go wrong in their (00:30:27) life and that's when they go okay I'm (00:30:29) ready to change my message is why wait (00:30:32) dude like why wait for that you know we (00:30:34) can learn and change in a state of pain (00:30:36) and suffering we can learn and change in (00:30:38) a state of joy and inspiration so then (00:30:41) you get a collective group of people (00:30:43) together that really may have all those (00:30:45) bad habits they they they may even have (00:30:48) bad habits that they don't even know (00:30:49) they (00:30:50) have and then all of a sudden they (00:30:52) become aware that they've been blaming (00:30:54) and complaining and making excuses and (00:30:56) feeling sorry for themselves and (00:30:57) procrastinating (00:30:59) and they start to reason if my (00:31:01) personality creates my personal reality (00:31:04) if I'm going to create a new personal (00:31:05) reality I got to change my personality (00:31:07) because this guy that that that's this (00:31:11) isn't the guy that wants to be happy (00:31:13) this is the guy who's committed to being (00:31:16) unhappy okay let's break it down let's (00:31:19) get down the fundamentals and now we (00:31:21) give them a road map of their thoughts (00:31:24) behaviors and emotions that that they (00:31:27) have lived by is that step two person (00:31:30) yeah you could say that step two is is (00:31:32) becoming conscious of your unconscious (00:31:34) self and then becoming conscious of a (00:31:36) new self Reinventing a new self and so (00:31:40) the person who's feeling really bad (00:31:42) about themselves because they're not (00:31:44) they're not doing anything to change (00:31:46) it's just (00:31:48) because um when you're not changing (00:31:51) you're still choosing uh but what you're (00:31:53) choosing is something that makes you (00:31:56) feel familiar and comfortable because (00:31:59) the moment you decide to change truly (00:32:01) get serious about change the moment you (00:32:04) decide to make a different choice and do (00:32:07) something differently you are going to (00:32:10) feel uncomfortable it's going to be (00:32:12) immediate and that's the moment you go (00:32:14) from the known into the unknown now if (00:32:16) the body has been emotionally (00:32:18) conditioned to be the mind like we (00:32:19) talked about earlier the servant is the (00:32:22) master and so the person who steps out (00:32:24) into the unknown and it feels (00:32:25) uncomfortable what is the body going to (00:32:27) say get back to (00:32:29) suffering get back to feeling bad get (00:32:31) back to feeling guilty at least that's (00:32:33) familiar that's known so tell a person (00:32:36) there's going to be a biological death (00:32:38) of the old self neurologically (00:32:39) chemically hormonally genetically (00:32:41) there's the old self is going to die (00:32:43) just know that that's going to happen (00:32:46) but instead of white knuckling it across (00:32:47) the river of change we're going to give (00:32:49) you something to do because that unknown (00:32:51) place is the perfect place to create in (00:32:53) so let's get you into the unknown but (00:32:55) let's get you there where you're relaxed (00:32:57) and awake (00:32:59) you're not escaping and if you do that (00:33:01) really well you're you'll be in a (00:33:03) creative state so you actually will be (00:33:05) out of survival and you'll be able to (00:33:08) create because you could only be in (00:33:09) survival or creation can't be in both so (00:33:12) let's get your body physiologically back (00:33:14) in the balance let's get it there now (00:33:17) who do you want to be what do you want (00:33:18) to believe let's review that what's a (00:33:20) belief a thought you keep thinking over (00:33:22) and over in your brain keep remembering (00:33:23) to think this way in your meditation how (00:33:25) am I going to be with my ex or my boss (00:33:28) let me close my eyes and think about (00:33:30) what greatness looks like what (00:33:31) forgiveness would do what love would do (00:33:34) let me just let me close my eyes and (00:33:36) mentally rehearse how I'm going to be in (00:33:39) that circumstance I'm going to keep (00:33:40) remembering to do these things so I (00:33:43) don't forget keep doing it over and over (00:33:45) again you start installing the hardware (00:33:47) repeat it enough times it gets like a (00:33:49) software program you start behaving that (00:33:51) way (00:33:52) automatically and then my goodness is it (00:33:54) possible to teach our body emotionally (00:33:57) how we do want to feel before it happens (00:33:59) in other words don't wait for your (00:34:00) wealth to feel abundant or your your (00:34:03) success to feel empowered or your (00:34:04) healing to feel wholeness that's waiting (00:34:07) for something in your outer World to (00:34:08) Change to take away the The Emptiness or (00:34:11) lack that you're feeling in your inner (00:34:12) World teach your body emotionally what (00:34:14) it feels like ahead of the actual (00:34:17) experience and the moment you start (00:34:19) feeling abundant you're generating (00:34:20) wealth the moment you can embody (00:34:23) empowerment you're stepping towards your (00:34:26) your success the moment you feel (00:34:28) grateful and whole be The Healing Begins (00:34:31) right so now you're starting to cause an (00:34:33) effect in your life so have the person (00:34:36) keep remembering to feel that way and (00:34:38) have them practice sooner or later (00:34:40) they'll start feeling that way more and (00:34:42) the more they feel that way the more (00:34:43) they'll believe in their future and some (00:34:45) people get so good at doing it that they (00:34:48) walk around feeling that emotion they (00:34:50) feel like their future has already (00:34:52) happened and when you feel like the (00:34:54) future has already happened you stop (00:34:55) looking for it and that's when the magic (00:34:57) starts to take place in people's lives (00:34:59) the synchronicities the coincidences the (00:35:02) opportunities they start coming to them (00:35:05) in their life and and that's the (00:35:06) reflection of their own personal (00:35:09) change I've seen thousands and thousands (00:35:12) tens of thousands of testimonials of (00:35:13) people saying jod sper CH changed my (00:35:16) life I mean I've got one at home right (00:35:18) got a testimonial that I live with um (00:35:21) I'm sorry no it's no honestly I I love (00:35:24) it because she's so she's probably back (00:35:26) there somewhere but she's so passate and (00:35:28) inquisitive and curious that I almost (00:35:31) vicariously am benefiting from the like (00:35:33) work and research she's doing and she's (00:35:34) bringing things into our relationship in (00:35:36) life that are making it more rich and (00:35:38) full and I have a certain perspective (00:35:40) which I wouldn't naturally go into that (00:35:42) world and even with breath work and the (00:35:44) other things that she's brought into our (00:35:45) relationship I wouldn't have naturally (00:35:47) gone there so it's super useful but (00:35:50) there must be instances where you've met (00:35:52) someone and you've tried to help them (00:35:55) and you've been unsuccessful of course (00:35:57) and (00:35:59) why don't those people change because (00:36:01) I'm assuming that you think most people (00:36:03) can change they have the propensity to (00:36:05) change why does it not work (00:36:09) sometimes and scientists asked me this (00:36:11) you know we talk about this all the time (00:36:13) uh sometimes uh being in such severe (00:36:18) lack uh of and Desperation desperation (00:36:22) you know uh creates a state where you (00:36:25) can't hear anything um because you you (00:36:28) don't you no new (00:36:30) information can enter the nervous system (00:36:33) that is not equal to the emotion the (00:36:35) person is experiencing as an ex just as (00:36:38) a broad understanding this is why we (00:36:39) don't do questions in our (00:36:41) events because you can give the person (00:36:44) the answer to the question that they're (00:36:47) asking you and they will not hear you (00:36:49) they will not hear you in fact they will (00:36:51) argue against you but if you get that (00:36:54) person out of that emotional state and (00:36:56) the only person that's going to do that (00:36:57) is them by the way get that person out (00:37:01) of their emotional state they can hear (00:37:02) that information so sometimes we're (00:37:05) programmed into such lack we're (00:37:08) programmed right to wait for something (00:37:10) out there to change to take away this (00:37:12) emptiness or lack you know when this (00:37:14) happens I'll feel this you know and so (00:37:16) when things are good in our life we feel (00:37:18) good and when things aren't so good in (00:37:20) our life we feel bad so we're kind of (00:37:22) victimized to the circumstances in our (00:37:24) life it's our outer world is controlling (00:37:27) our inner world of thoughts and feelings (00:37:31) so if the person has been programmed (00:37:34) into saying um I I I I I I why haven't I (00:37:39) healed or why hasn't this happened in my (00:37:42) life because the person who's saying why (00:37:45) haven't I healed is the old self the new (00:37:47) self would never say that right the new (00:37:50) self is too busy overcoming and becoming (00:37:52) right so I think people meet (00:37:56) information uh at their own level but (00:37:59) what I can tell you that is so (00:38:01) compelling and so (00:38:03) exciting is that when we get people on (00:38:06) the stage and it happens every event (00:38:08) it's it's (00:38:10) really quite (00:38:12) unbelievable to see a person stand on (00:38:14) the stage in front of 2300 people you (00:38:17) would walk right past her in the grocery (00:38:19) store um she doesn't look vegan she (00:38:22) doesn't look ketogenic she doesn't look (00:38:24) particularly fit or young or dressed (00:38:27) well you know whatever that is she just (00:38:29) looks like a normal person and they (00:38:31) stand on the stage and they tell their (00:38:35) story of how they were diagnosed with (00:38:37) cancer or um whatever the condition is (00:38:42) and what they did uh in their life to (00:38:44) change those health conditions and (00:38:46) there's numerous health (00:38:49) conditions when I look out in the (00:38:51) audience uh and I look at people uh (00:38:54) there isn't a soul in the audience that (00:38:56) isn't leaning in everybody is leaning in (00:38:59) because there's the example of Truth on (00:39:02) the stage and there's nothing like a (00:39:04) good story right so the change that (00:39:07) we're seeing in our community is that (00:39:09) there's a greater (00:39:12) acceptance a greater belief a greater (00:39:16) understanding a greater awareness to the (00:39:18) idea that you could actually heal (00:39:20) because people witness it and the person (00:39:23) in the audience who's seeing that person (00:39:24) who healed themselves from whatever (00:39:26) health condition it is (00:39:28) relates to them and they say my God if (00:39:32) if that person can do it I can do it as (00:39:34) well and just like an infection spreads (00:39:37) amongst the culture and creates disease (00:39:40) health and wellness can become as (00:39:42) infectious as disease right and so we (00:39:45) have it's not (00:39:46) uncommon like when that person stands on (00:39:48) the stage and they're the 4minute mile (00:39:51) if the person as Renard's syndrome we've (00:39:53) had events where four other people with (00:39:55) reard syndrome healed at the end of the (00:39:58) event like no longer have any symptoms (00:40:00) at all or we've had five people in one (00:40:03) event step out of a wheelchair now if (00:40:05) you ask me if I ever thought that was (00:40:07) possible I would say no so I do think uh (00:40:11) when a person sees that example of Truth (00:40:14) their awareness of possibility begins to (00:40:17) change and um the evidence then allows (00:40:20) the person to increase their own belief (00:40:23) uh in in themselves and (00:40:25) impossibility you used to add earlier on (00:40:27) the the word identity and I've been (00:40:30) pondering over the last couple of weeks (00:40:31) whether identity is useful cuz this is a (00:40:36) really trivial example but I've told (00:40:38) myself for a long time I don't like (00:40:39) running and this Christmas I decided (00:40:41) that it's probably important for me to (00:40:43) take on some of these limiting beliefs I (00:40:45) have so I just started running and in (00:40:48) doing so and going through the pain of (00:40:49) like Oh my legs hurt whatever I had this (00:40:52) sort of realization that like what other (00:40:54) areas of my life have I just created a (00:40:56) story that is closing in on me and (00:40:57) making my life more narrow and uh in (00:41:00) terms of how I think or like my health (00:41:02) or whatever and and so for the last (00:41:04) couple of weeks I've really been (00:41:05) thinking about this concept of identity (00:41:06) like what it is why we create one and (00:41:08) how harmful or positive it might be to (00:41:11) all of us yeah well look I mean I don't (00:41:14) I think we're all a work in progress (00:41:16) right I think it's an uncovering process (00:41:21) so I I always tell people you can be (00:41:24) anybody you want you can be any (00:41:25) character you want to be in (00:41:26) three-dimensional it in this in this (00:41:28) kind of virtual reality experience you (00:41:30) get to put on any character but when it (00:41:32) comes time to create when it comes time (00:41:35) to connect you got to lay down that (00:41:38) character you got to lay down the (00:41:39) identity you got to lay down that person (00:41:41) right and some people are have become (00:41:46) so uh uh idealized to their identity (00:41:49) that they can't be anything else and so (00:41:53) uh I don't think the identity is bad I (00:41:55) think I think as long as long as we're (00:41:57) able to to lay it down when we create (00:41:59) it's important and by the same means if (00:42:02) there are aspects of your personality or (00:42:05) your (00:42:06) identity that is undermining um your (00:42:09) life in some way uh and this happens to (00:42:12) so many people we see even with you know (00:42:14) when they're when they're getting (00:42:16) healings that they they their blood (00:42:18) values get better and then they get back (00:42:19) into their life and they blood values go (00:42:21) back up and then they get more healings (00:42:23) and their blood values go down and they (00:42:25) go back into their life and sooner or (00:42:26) later this goes on four or five times (00:42:28) they (00:42:29) say is it me like do I have something to (00:42:33) do with this and and the answer is (00:42:35) always yes if you if you want to take (00:42:37) the sign you can't take you can't take (00:42:39) one bite you got to actually eat the (00:42:40) whole thing (00:42:42) so so the so then what aspect of your (00:42:46) identity then is limiting you uh and (00:42:49) what is that story that you're saying to (00:42:51) reaffirm it to be the truth and is it (00:42:54) really the truth and if it's not the (00:42:56) truth then you got to make a decision (00:42:59) and you got to make a decision with such (00:43:01) firm intention to change that belief (00:43:04) that the amplitude of that choice (00:43:06) carries a level of energy that causes (00:43:09) your body to respond to your mind that (00:43:12) the choice that you're making in that (00:43:14) moment becomes a moment in time that (00:43:15) you'll never forget in other words you (00:43:17) have to say I knew exactly where I was (00:43:21) what I was doing what time of day it was (00:43:22) when I made up my mind to change right (00:43:25) it becomes a long-term memory and the (00:43:28) stronger emot the stronger the emotion (00:43:29) you feel when you make that choice the (00:43:32) more you remember the choice right and (00:43:34) so you can't say oh well I think I'm (00:43:37) going to change this kind of part of my (00:43:39) identity and your your body's going to (00:43:41) say he's lying like he's not serious (00:43:44) he's going to still make the same Choice (00:43:47) when you say this is it I don't care how (00:43:50) long it takes time I don't care how I (00:43:52) feel body I don't care what people think (00:43:55) of me or what's going on in my life (00:43:56) environment I'm going to change and you (00:43:59) come out of your resting state and you (00:44:00) make that choice you're giving your body (00:44:03) a taste of the future emotionally that's (00:44:05) what you're doing and so people who make (00:44:07) up their mind to change they have to (00:44:09) come out of their resting state and they (00:44:11) have to say th I'm doing this and and (00:44:15) that is a a strong signal in the field (00:44:18) so does that mean that if I do want to (00:44:19) change and I need that kind of escape (00:44:21) velocity for my old self the why the (00:44:24) reason must be abundantly clear (00:44:27) incredibly strong so if I'm in if I'm (00:44:30) making a New Year's resolution I'm not (00:44:31) going to just say listen I I want this (00:44:33) New Year's resolution because I think (00:44:34) people will think better of me if I have (00:44:36) it it's got to be so deep in my core and (00:44:38) I've got to be so clear and be able to (00:44:40) articulate the reason why this matters (00:44:42) to me for it to stand a chance yeah we (00:44:44) call that assigning meaning like so it's (00:44:47) so important to assign meaning to the (00:44:50) task or the act that we're uh engaging (00:44:53) and one of the best way to do that is to (00:44:55) hold that Vision or the dream of why (00:44:58) you're doing it I want to be healthier I (00:45:00) want to be more fit I want to be more (00:45:02) wealthy I want to be more free I want to (00:45:04) be more in love whatever it is the only (00:45:07) thing that's stopping you from being any (00:45:09) of those things is just a part of your (00:45:11) identity that has to change so that you (00:45:13) get there and it's nothing's mystical (00:45:14) about this if you said I want to be (00:45:17) wealthy this is your goal this is your (00:45:19) vision and here you are in lack the only (00:45:23) way you're going to get wealthy is this (00:45:24) person's going to have to change a lot (00:45:26) to find that wealth right so there's (00:45:28) nothing there's nothing mystical about (00:45:31) this we've all done it at some point in (00:45:33) our life where we just made up our mind (00:45:35) and and and what did we do when we when (00:45:38) we did it we got very clear like okay uh (00:45:42) let me remind myself what that vision is (00:45:45) I just got to remember why am I doing (00:45:46) this okay so I'm going to have to make a (00:45:48) different Choice let me write down those (00:45:50) choices I have to make I'm going to have (00:45:52) to start doing different things okay (00:45:54) what am I going to do let me remind (00:45:56) myself what I need to do okay why am I (00:45:58) doing it I'm doing for this experience (00:45:59) yeah I know it might hurt my legs in the (00:46:01) beginning or whatever it is I know it (00:46:03) may be a little uncomfortable I'm going (00:46:04) for this goal this is my goal and and (00:46:08) and the more we Fascinate about that (00:46:10) experience the more we start feeling the (00:46:11) emotion of that future that's when your (00:46:13) body what we've discovered is beginning (00:46:16) to biologically change because it's (00:46:18) starting to feel the emotion of the (00:46:20) future ahead of time right so that keeps (00:46:22) a person on the journey then we do (00:46:23) something really great we say what what (00:46:26) thoughts uh um do I want to stay away (00:46:28) from like I can't say I there's no way (00:46:31) I'm going to say I can't feel like it I (00:46:32) mean if you're truly committed to being (00:46:34) healthy and you're going to exercise you (00:46:37) can never say I'm too tired you can (00:46:40) never say I don't feel like it that's (00:46:41) going to cause you to not make the (00:46:43) choice right so it's kind of this (00:46:45) process where we're kind of doing that (00:46:47) exact thing we're actually looking at (00:46:50) the old identity and we're we're (00:46:51) reminding ourselves of who we want to (00:46:53) become right and and until you become it (00:46:56) and we discovered it's the overcoming (00:46:59) process that is the becoming process (00:47:01) when the person overcomes some belief (00:47:04) some behavior um some emotion when they (00:47:08) truly overcome it they naturally become (00:47:10) somebody else it's it's just a side (00:47:13) effect their their work in doing that (00:47:16) makes them love themselves more you also (00:47:19) have a lot of case studies of I was (00:47:21) reading a a lot of them from army (00:47:23) veterans and people that have been (00:47:25) through pretty horrific experience in (00:47:27) the Army I was reading a story of Joshua (00:47:30) who was a army veteran who I believe (00:47:32) came to one of your events and took part (00:47:34) in your meditation and described it in (00:47:36) his own words as his heart cracked wide (00:47:39) open yeah what happened with Joshua (00:47:41) because that's a good example of (00:47:42) personal transformation well (00:47:45) um we we have a program right now in the (00:47:49) veterans the Navy Seals special ops um (00:47:54) simply because there's lots of stories (00:47:56) like like Joshua where um you know he (00:48:00) was pretty much ready to give up on his (00:48:01) life and many of these veterans you know (00:48:05) they they they cope to the best of their (00:48:08) ability but they in the back of their (00:48:10) mind they have an exit plan they they (00:48:13) have the drugs ready they're you know (00:48:16) thinking about taking their life many of (00:48:18) them think this way and they've done uh (00:48:21) so many different um uh types of things (00:48:25) to help themselves and even even a lot (00:48:27) of them have done plant medicine and and (00:48:31) mushrooms and you know ketamine and all (00:48:33) kinds of things to help them but on some (00:48:36) level their their PTSD U wouldn't (00:48:40) doesn't go away and and Joshua is a (00:48:41) great example because he was at the very (00:48:43) bottom of the uh point in his life where (00:48:46) he was ready to give (00:48:47) up and you know the thing that I like to (00:48:50) do with veterans is to reason with them (00:48:54) if you have a if you have a a Navy SEAL (00:48:56) right and these are Elite (00:48:58) individuals if I tell them exactly what (00:49:02) will happen if they practice opening (00:49:03) their heart if if I say to them it's (00:49:05) going to reset the Baseline for trauma (00:49:08) in the brain they don't say how do I do (00:49:10) it they say yes sir like I'm going to do (00:49:12) I'm going to do it until it till it (00:49:14) happens and that's what happens to all (00:49:16) of these guys they're they get they're (00:49:18) they there's so much trauma in their (00:49:20) brain and body there's so much (00:49:21) incoherence in their nervous system (00:49:23) there's so many physical problems that (00:49:25) they're having (00:49:27) that they that they they they're just (00:49:29) really out of balance so if we if we (00:49:33) work with these people and give them all (00:49:35) the information and give them numerous (00:49:37) opportunities to apply it so many of (00:49:39) them break through and that's the moment (00:49:42) um their brain and body literally are no (00:49:44) longer connected to the memory uh or or (00:49:47) the emotion that keeps them in the past (00:49:49) and and they get recalibrated and he was (00:49:52) a drug addict an alcoholic a victim of (00:49:54) child abuse yeah and the before and (00:49:57) after of Joshua (00:49:59) dramatic yeah dramatic um again you know (00:50:02) we interview a lot of these veterans you (00:50:04) know we did we interviewed this he (00:50:07) didn't know anything about meditation (00:50:08) this guy never meditated in his life you (00:50:11) know he he didn't know anything about me (00:50:13) and know he didn't even know where he (00:50:14) was going this is how blind the study (00:50:16) was and he got there and he was just (00:50:18) like there's no way like I'm going to (00:50:20) hang out with all these people you know (00:50:22) he was really you know in and you know (00:50:24) always on guard and they asked him in (00:50:27) front of the camera like my goodness (00:50:30) like what happened and he and like he (00:50:32) got this is a guy that looks like a Navy (00:50:35) SEAL and he paused for like a (00:50:38) minute and he was got so emotional he (00:50:41) said I I got my life back I got my life (00:50:43) back I got every my marriage is great (00:50:45) again I'm in love with my kids I can (00:50:47) feel again I'm happy like I'm not faking (00:50:51) it I really feel a change you know (00:50:53) so that's how the vet the vet program (00:50:56) kind of grew through because the veteran (00:50:58) program was just a few vets coming that (00:51:00) were again injured in some way (00:51:02) physically or emotionally and completely (00:51:05) different at the end of the event (00:51:06) they're going to go tell their tribe (00:51:08) like right away like you got to do this (00:51:10) this really helped me so we have a (00:51:12) strong veteran community and you know we (00:51:14) have our one of our nonprofits the give (00:51:16) to give Foundation that works with (00:51:19) veterans and we create all kinds of (00:51:20) programs for them to heal and and we're (00:51:23) super proud of the results we're getting (00:51:25) someone like Joshua has been through so (00:51:26) much in their life where an objective (00:51:28) Observer would say it is warranted that (00:51:31) they might be living in a state of (00:51:33) victimhood how important is it to (00:51:37) forgive I think it's really uh one of (00:51:40) the fundamental things that Keep Us (00:51:42) Alive I mean forgiveness to me is just (00:51:46) overcoming the emotion that's it and (00:51:49) like if you overcome the emotion the (00:51:52) side effect of that is that your heart (00:51:54) will open that's exactly what happens (00:51:57) and when en energy moves into the heart (00:51:59) we start releasing different chemicals (00:52:01) than we when we feel angry or we feel (00:52:04) victimized or we feel sexual it's just a (00:52:06) different (00:52:07) chemical Elixir and oxytocin is released (00:52:12) and oxytocin signals nitric oxide and (00:52:15) nitric oxide signals another chemical (00:52:17) that causes the arteries in your heart (00:52:20) to literally dilate the heart gets (00:52:22) filled with energy it's engorged with (00:52:24) blood when that occurs the oxytocin (00:52:26) level lels that you're feeling the love (00:52:28) that you're feeling um the studies show (00:52:31) that when oxytocin levels are just (00:52:33) elevated a little bit it's really hard (00:52:34) to hold a grudge you just can't right so (00:52:37) if you're willing to (00:52:39) forgive and you overcome the emotion (00:52:42) you'll take your attention off the (00:52:43) person or the problem right because the (00:52:46) stronger the emotion we have the more we (00:52:47) pay attention to our problems or the (00:52:49) person right overcome the emotion you no (00:52:51) longer have your attention on that (00:52:53) person and in a sense you're taking (00:52:55) energy and you're calling it back to you (00:52:56) right so you're building your own field (00:52:59) and (00:53:00) so love is the Elixir that allows us to (00:53:04) forgive in other words you can't (00:53:07) say I'm going to forgive you it's uh (00:53:10) January 31st or February 1st remember (00:53:13) this day we got a thing I forgave you so (00:53:16) that's not like forgiveness when people (00:53:18) really have that feeling of pure love (00:53:20) where they've actually gotten over the (00:53:22) emotion they've already forgiven they're (00:53:25) like I'm totally cool I'm great you (00:53:27) great I'm great like so it's a side (00:53:30) effect of a change because if the (00:53:33) stronger the emotion we feel the more we (00:53:35) pay attention to that person uh where we (00:53:37) place our attention is where we place (00:53:39) our energy okay overcome the emotion you (00:53:41) no longer have your attention on that (00:53:43) person you're calling energy back to you (00:53:45) and you're building your own field and (00:53:46) there's energy now to heal there's (00:53:49) energy Now to create there's energy now (00:53:51) for the mystical experience and so you (00:53:53) can't do that if you're feeling (00:53:55) frustrated or if you're feeling Ang (00:53:56) anger if you're feeling resentment (00:53:58) you'll always hold the grudge you have (00:54:00) to convert you have to teach a person (00:54:02) how to get into that elevated State and (00:54:04) the side effect of that is forgiveness (00:54:07) it's not something that you have to do (00:54:08) it's just something that automatically (00:54:10) happens when we think about forgiving (00:54:12) people that have wronged us our dad when (00:54:15) we were younger that person at work you (00:54:17) the the boss that fired us or even (00:54:20) something that happened that (00:54:20) significantly worse it almost feels like (00:54:23) a justification or an acceptance of what (00:54:26) happened to us which makes it feel like (00:54:29) there's an injustice in the world like (00:54:30) if I forgive that person I'm letting (00:54:32) them off yeah do you think we should (00:54:34) always forgive everybody in all (00:54:36) circumstances yeah I think so I mean (00:54:38) because I mean you free yourself the (00:54:40) only way you're going to free yourself (00:54:42) from that person uh or from that past (00:54:45) experience is for you to literally (00:54:49) overcome the emotion (00:54:51) so um God we've all had people do really (00:54:54) horrible things and we've probably done (00:54:56) some horrible things the people as well (00:54:58) um but I don't think you can free (00:55:01) yourself or free them unless you decide (00:55:04) that um you know love is going to be the (00:55:06) thing that heals it and and God so many (00:55:09) people do it in our work and and the (00:55:11) side effect of it is that they they they (00:55:13) have wonderful effects in their lives (00:55:14) many times just healing there is a (00:55:16) chronic stress in society that seems to (00:55:18) be going in One Direction it seems to be (00:55:19) going up and up and up and I was (00:55:21) wondering if that ties into the subject (00:55:22) of burdens we're carrying from our past (00:55:25) that are keeping us elevated in ways (00:55:27) that are suboptimal yeah well I God I (00:55:29) mean what a crazy time to be alive right (00:55:32) now I mean there are so many things (00:55:33) happening in such a short amount of time (00:55:35) I mean it's almost overwhelming every (00:55:37) day there's something (00:55:38) happening and you know so living in (00:55:41) stress is living in survival the problem (00:55:44) with the stress hormones is that the (00:55:46) arousal that's created from the stress (00:55:48) hormones causes us uh to move into these (00:55:51) higher brain wave States called beta (00:55:53) brain wave states were aroused and the (00:55:56) arousal causes us to pay attention (00:55:58) primarily to all the things in our outer (00:56:00) world the arousal causes us to put our (00:56:02) attention on our body it causes us to (00:56:05) obsess and think about time and so uh (00:56:08) people get stuck in these uh High brain (00:56:11) wave States and I think the big (00:56:14) challenge is is if you understand that (00:56:16) stress is when you're knocked out of (00:56:18) homeostasis when your brain and body are (00:56:20) knocked out of balance then your (00:56:23) response or your reaction to people or (00:56:25) circumstances in your life that you're (00:56:27) chronically feeling on a regular basis (00:56:30) is actually weakening the organism (00:56:33) because when you turn on that emergency (00:56:35) system the fight ORF flight nervous (00:56:36) system because of the hormones of stress (00:56:38) and you move your body out of balance (00:56:40) and it has no time to recover and turn (00:56:43) back to balance now you're headed for (00:56:45) disease because no organism can live in (00:56:48) emergency mode for that extended period (00:56:50) of time the arousal creates a rush of (00:56:53) energy and people become (00:56:55) addicted to the stress hormones they (00:56:58) become addicted to those (00:56:59) emotions and so that now they need the (00:57:02) people and the conditions and the (00:57:03) circumstances and their life to reaffirm (00:57:06) their addiction to the emotion they need (00:57:07) the bad job they need the bad (00:57:09) relationship they need the traffic they (00:57:11) need the news uh just so that they can (00:57:13) stay uh in that emotional state so then (00:57:18) 75 to 90% of every person that walks (00:57:20) into a healthcare facility in the (00:57:22) Western World walks in because of (00:57:24) emotional or psychological stress that's (00:57:26) the number one thing so our emotional (00:57:29) response uh to the conditions in our (00:57:32) life then becomes the important element (00:57:34) so people think oh my god um when I'm (00:57:37) emotional I I can't control my emotions (00:57:39) and turns out you can regulate it turns (00:57:42) out you can uh shorten the response uh (00:57:46) period from from emotions and it takes (00:57:48) practice right so uh you could take the (00:57:51) you could have the most ketogenic vegan (00:57:54) organic uh peptide you know whatever (00:57:57) intermittent fasting diet and you could (00:57:59) do yoga and you can do cardio and you (00:58:01) can do hit training and um you know (00:58:04) foundation training and (00:58:06) whatever uh get massage you know (00:58:09) acupuncture but if you're an emotional (00:58:12) wreck and you can't you know if there's (00:58:14) three types of stress physical chemical (00:58:16) and emotional then there's three types (00:58:18) of balance physical chemical and (00:58:20) emotional if you if you got your body in (00:58:22) physical balance and chemical balance (00:58:24) and you're not putting it in emotional (00:58:25) balance these these will never stop day (00:58:27) um so then the important part important (00:58:30) element then is teaching people how to (00:58:34) shorten the refractory period of their (00:58:35) emotional responses and catch themselves (00:58:38) when they're feeling those emotions and (00:58:40) change it and not rely on anything (00:58:42) outside of them to do it a video game or (00:58:44) a drug or whatever people do teach them (00:58:47) that they have the tools to do it (00:58:48) themselves and if they understand that (00:58:50) they're addicted to those emotions I've (00:58:51) seen this thousands of times there's (00:58:54) always an aha moment like (00:58:56) I'm addicted to anger really oh my God (00:59:00) maybe I am now the moment you recognize (00:59:03) that oh my God I'm using that person to (00:59:06) reaffirm my addiction to anger oh my God (00:59:09) like I don't want to I don't want to (00:59:11) feel anger okay well an addiction is (00:59:13) something that you think you can't stop (00:59:16) an addiction is uh doing something that (00:59:18) you know isn't good for you and you're (00:59:19) doing it anyway right so these emotions (00:59:22) are addictive then I'm going to probably (00:59:25) go through withdrawals I've probably (00:59:27) overdosed a few times I've probably had (00:59:29) a couple bad trips okay so let me get (00:59:33) really clear like how am I going to (00:59:35) change this so if to change is to be (00:59:38) greater than your body your environment (00:59:40) and time when you live in stress and you (00:59:42) live in survival all your attention is (00:59:44) on your body your environment and time (00:59:46) it means when we're living in stress (00:59:47) it's really hard to change MH because (00:59:49) it's not a time to change it's time to (00:59:51) run fight and hide right so so teaching (00:59:55) people how to break those emotional (00:59:58) addictions um is the side effect of that (01:00:00) is called Joy a person is no longer (01:00:03) tormenting their body in keeping it out (01:00:05) of balance and many people who heal in (01:00:07) this work they don't say oh I'm going to (01:00:10) I'm going to heal this health condition (01:00:12) they'll say the first thing I'm going to (01:00:14) do and this is the majority of them is (01:00:17) I'm going to work on getting my body (01:00:19) back into homeostasis like I'm going to (01:00:21) work on regulating my emotional states (01:00:24) I'm not going to react in this way I'm (01:00:25) not going to respond this (01:00:27) way that's the work right there is (01:00:30) breaking those emotional addictions so (01:00:32) that we can move out of survival uh and (01:00:34) in survival it's not a time to create in (01:00:37) survival it's not a time to meditate (01:00:39) it's not a time to close your eyes and (01:00:40) go within you'd be eaten it's not a time (01:00:42) to be vulnerable it's not a time to open (01:00:44) your heart right and yet we got to work (01:00:46) with our bodies and be able to to (01:00:48) recondition them to a new mind and and (01:00:50) so a lot of the work that we do (01:00:52) especially during this time in history (01:00:55) where everybody's feeling the the um the (01:00:57) pressure the environmental pressure of (01:01:00) stress is to give people the tools to be (01:01:02) able to self-regulate and when I mean (01:01:05) self-regulate that means move from one (01:01:07) emotional state to another emotional (01:01:09) state and it's not bad that we react we (01:01:12) all react I react but the question is (01:01:15) how long like how long are you going to (01:01:18) react for because um if you keep doing (01:01:22) it uh for months or years It ultimately (01:01:25) becomes your personality right yeah and (01:01:28) it has a big impact on your immune (01:01:29) system I've noticed that when I'm in a (01:01:32) state of prolonged reaction negative (01:01:35) reaction to something it only takes a (01:01:38) couple more days for me to get a flu or (01:01:40) a cold or something and I H like because (01:01:43) I don't get sick often so I think I get (01:01:45) sick kind of like I am now maybe twice a (01:01:48) year and so it's very easy it's almost (01:01:51) like a shock and then it's very easy for (01:01:52) me to trace my steps and see what (01:01:54) brought me here so this happened my (01:01:56) response was (01:01:57) this 8 days later I felt my immune (01:02:01) system go cuz I get sick so rarely it's (01:02:04) so unbelievably clear what happened to (01:02:06) me there's no like oh I I touched (01:02:09) something and then the germs got in my (01:02:10) mouth for me it's so clear in my life so (01:02:12) yeah that's kind of what I I want to do (01:02:13) is I want to stop that happening yeah (01:02:16) well look how old are you I'm 32 32 my (01:02:19) God you're doing great I mean if you (01:02:20) figure this out now by the time you're (01:02:22) 40 you'll you'll have it mastered um so (01:02:25) we did a study where we had people stop (01:02:28) feeling survival (01:02:29) emotions uh for 3 days and have them (01:02:33) practice feeling elevated emotions (01:02:34) heart- centered emotions we measured uh (01:02:37) a chemical called IGA immunoglobuline a (01:02:40) it's your body's natural flu shot it's (01:02:42) actually better than a flu shot and uh (01:02:45) and so we measured people's IGA levels (01:02:48) at the beginning of this time and then (01:02:49) we measured them at the end at the end (01:02:51) of 3 Days by trading those limited (01:02:54) emotions for more elevated emotions (01:02:57) their IG a levels went up 50% 50% so so (01:03:02) when you're feeling an elevated emotion (01:03:04) the body is so objective that it's (01:03:06) believing it's living in an nurturing (01:03:08) and loving environment if the (01:03:10) environment signals the Gene and it does (01:03:12) and the end product of an experience in (01:03:14) the environment is an emotion that (01:03:16) person is signaling genes ahead of the (01:03:18) environment that's and now the body is (01:03:20) going to make globulins which are (01:03:22) proteins that are going to create more (01:03:24) internal defense and uh uh uh and less (01:03:27) and less uh attention on external (01:03:29) defense so the immune system then which (01:03:30) is the internal protection system begins (01:03:33) to move back into order if you're (01:03:35) looking to take the next step in your (01:03:37) Tech Career you'll want to hear about (01:03:38) our sponsor Inuit I've always believed (01:03:41) that if (01:04:40) careers to explore their (01:04:42) opportunities what about routine in all (01:04:44) of this is there value in having a (01:04:47) strong (01:04:49) routine because then when the winds blow (01:04:51) at least I'm anchored by something yeah (01:04:54) I try to avoid that word because I think (01:04:56) it conjures up a lot of beliefs for (01:05:00) people I I think I I'd like to say if (01:05:03) you can set aside a certain amount of (01:05:05) time for yourself just for yourself to (01:05:08) be alone with yourself and for me um my (01:05:13) routine is to have two hours in the (01:05:15) morning that's just my time like that's (01:05:18) my time where I'm going to get my brain (01:05:20) and body right it's a time where I'm (01:05:22) going to think about the things I have (01:05:24) to do in the day and how I'm going to to (01:05:26) be in my in my day get that all clear (01:05:28) then I do my meditation and my (01:05:30) meditation is really uh for me to (01:05:32) overcome myself uh and change and then (01:05:35) create and I you know I don't care if (01:05:38) you do it in the morning or in the (01:05:39) evening I'm a morning person I've always (01:05:40) been a morning person I have friends (01:05:42) that are that are artists and musicians (01:05:45) even my kids they're just more even (01:05:47) evening people they just they're (01:05:49) creative so they like the evening (01:05:51) doesn't matter to me I just pick a time (01:05:53) in your day where you can think about (01:05:56) who you want to be and who you no longer (01:05:58) want to be and think about what you're (01:06:00) going to change and and you know always (01:06:02) make a little room for the unknown which (01:06:04) is the fun part and and get creative (01:06:07) yeah and so and our that's one of the (01:06:09) things I'm proud of in in our community (01:06:11) I'm really proud of the fact that people (01:06:13) do the work like everybody does the work (01:06:16) it's not like I have to make them do it (01:06:18) and when I ask them like why like why do (01:06:20) you do it every day aside from the (01:06:23) majority of saying it makes me feel (01:06:24) better they typically say I don't want (01:06:26) the magic to end like there's too many (01:06:28) good things too many good things going (01:06:30) on in my life like I want to keep doing (01:06:33) this it's working for me so it's kind of (01:06:34) not like I have to it's a want to you (01:06:37) talked earlier on about brain heart (01:06:39) coherence it's a term that I've not (01:06:41) heard before I didn't know that there (01:06:43) was a connection between my brain and my (01:06:44) heart oh there's a definite connection (01:06:46) between your brain and heart yeah so we (01:06:49) were so fascinated this was uh February (01:06:51) of 2020 I'll never forget it we we (01:06:54) started and our when we were doing our (01:06:57) electroencephalograms you know our brain (01:06:59) studies um we we put a a cardiac lead (01:07:03) from the heart uh uh to the machine and (01:07:06) we started looking at HRV in comparison (01:07:10) to brain waves and coherence is rhythm (01:07:13) right so when waves are kind of moving (01:07:15) in Rhythm like this you can you can see (01:07:17) that on the brain scan right they're (01:07:19) these yeah they're very orderly they're (01:07:20) very rhythmic like that so so if you (01:07:24) think of waves that are Co (01:07:26) coherent being very orderly and being (01:07:29) very rhythmic (01:07:31) um when they're when they're out of (01:07:33) order like choppy and they different (01:07:35) parts of the brain are in different (01:07:37) rhythms that's when the brain's (01:07:38) incoherent right and and so when we (01:07:42) started looking at um training people (01:07:45) how to broaden their awareness to sense (01:07:47) space when you're sensing space the act (01:07:50) of sensing and feeling causes you to (01:07:51) stop analyzing and thinking and if (01:07:54) you're not analyzing and thinking you (01:07:56) start suppressing neocortical activity (01:07:58) your brain waves start to slow down in (01:08:00) beta you know you're aware that you're a (01:08:02) body local in space and time that's (01:08:04) low-level beta like we're talking right (01:08:06) now we're in low-level beta if I said (01:08:09) Stephen I'm going to give you a quiz um (01:08:12) and you're going to have to take the (01:08:13) quiz in front of your audience and you (01:08:15) would kind of perk up a little bit your (01:08:17) brain would get a little bit more (01:08:18) aroused and the light bulb would get a (01:08:19) little brighter and You' move into (01:08:20) mid-range Vader that's like when you're (01:08:21) going to give a speech or you're at a (01:08:24) dinner and you don't know people you're (01:08:25) kind of you kind of be a little bit more (01:08:27) aware just for people that can't see (01:08:28) this because they might be listening on (01:08:29) audio so beta is uh conscious awareness (01:08:32) now in beta the the brain is trying to (01:08:36) create meaning between what's going on (01:08:37) in the outer world and what's going on (01:08:38) in the inner world and it's processing (01:08:40) all the sensory information so a lot of (01:08:42) data so beta is like conscious and awake (01:08:44) and so there's low-level beta there's (01:08:46) mid-range beta it's not on this chart (01:08:47) but high level beta is when you're (01:08:49) fearful when you're anxious when you're (01:08:51) angry when you're in pain when you're (01:08:52) frustrated when you're jealous whatever (01:08:55) uh people get switched on in these high (01:08:56) levels of beta and that's when we get (01:08:58) overfocused you ever been under stressed (01:09:00) and you start over focusing that's (01:09:02) because you're you're you're narrowing (01:09:03) your focus and you're over focusing and (01:09:06) that's kind of a brain State and so when (01:09:09) you broaden your awareness and instead (01:09:11) of narrow your focus on something (01:09:13) physical or material that's what the (01:09:14) stress hormones do but if you broaden (01:09:17) your awareness and you sense space and (01:09:19) you this act of sensing causes you to no (01:09:22) longer analyze and think and your brain (01:09:25) waves start to move into Alpha now in (01:09:27) Alpha which is this brain wave is a (01:09:29) slower brain wave state that's the (01:09:31) creative state of the brain the brain (01:09:33) sees more in pictures more in images (01:09:36) it's more imaginary right in beta (01:09:38) there's a voice talking to you in the (01:09:40) back of your head all the time saying (01:09:41) this is right and this is wrong you got (01:09:43) this to do you got that to do that's the (01:09:45) critic kind of in our brain when you (01:09:48) when you get Beyond beta brain waves and (01:09:49) you move into Alpha you start opening (01:09:51) the door between the conscious mind and (01:09:52) the subconscious mind now we're not just (01:09:55) looking for any type of alpha but we're (01:09:57) looking for coherent Alpha so we want (01:09:59) all those compartments that we're firing (01:10:01) in different rhythms and different (01:10:03) frequencies all of a sudden start doing (01:10:06) this so now the whole entire brain (01:10:08) starts moving into what's called Global (01:10:10) coherence now when the brain starts (01:10:13) synchronizing like that what sinks in (01:10:15) the brain starts to link in the brain (01:10:16) and the whole brain starts to fire as (01:10:19) one neurological Network and that's what (01:10:20) our data shows now that's not the end (01:10:24) that's just when you're moving into an (01:10:25) imaginary State and people do this but (01:10:28) but a lot of people move into Alpha but (01:10:29) it's not coherent so we're looking for a (01:10:30) coherent Alpha (01:10:33) now many of the people that are (01:10:35) meditating really well they can relax (01:10:37) their body so well and they can feel so (01:10:41) safe that their body moves into a light (01:10:44) rest or a light sleep while they're (01:10:46) still awake so it's relaxed and awake in (01:10:50) that realm you're in a hypnotic State (01:10:54) you're in feta brain waves and in Theta (01:10:57) now lights are shut out in the thinking (01:10:59) Neo cortest that plugs us into (01:11:01) three-dimensional reality the identity (01:11:02) is gone the character is gone there's no (01:11:05) activity there now the door between the (01:11:07) conscious mind and the subconscious mind (01:11:09) is wide open to information and now (01:11:12) we're suggestible to information and now (01:11:14) we're in the operating system we can get (01:11:16) in the subconscious mind and rewrite a (01:11:18) program we could rehearse a new script (01:11:20) we can tell a new story instead of the (01:11:22) story of the past we can tell the story (01:11:24) of our future and we can Pro program our (01:11:26) subconscious mind and our autonomic (01:11:28) nervous system to begin to change our (01:11:30) biology now go too far past Theta and (01:11:33) you fall into Delta and now lights are (01:11:35) out you're in a catatonic State and (01:11:38) you're unconscious right and so we kind (01:11:40) of do this when we go to bed at night we (01:11:42) go from beta to Alpha Theta to Delta and (01:11:45) if you're under stress and you're in (01:11:46) high beta you can't sleep and you can't (01:11:49) sleep because you're thinking right and (01:11:51) you can't drop through brain waves when (01:11:53) you wake up in the morning you go from (01:11:55) Delta to the Theta to Alpha to Beta (01:11:57) right so there's two times that the door (01:11:59) between the conscious mind and the (01:12:00) subconscious mind opens up okay what (01:12:03) does this have to do with brain and (01:12:04) heart coherence well in Theta when a (01:12:07) person is in that state where their (01:12:09) attention is on their (01:12:11) heart and energy is in their heart it's (01:12:14) natural for the heart to tell the brain (01:12:17) to get creative it's time to imagine (01:12:20) it's time to fall in love with a future (01:12:23) now the heart is the creative center (01:12:25) right right it's the it's the part of (01:12:27) the our biology that that allows the (01:12:30) brain to begin the frontal lobe to begin (01:12:32) to create so you get the heart and the (01:12:34) Brain kind of working together the more (01:12:37) relaxed you get in your heart the more (01:12:39) awake you get in the brain Something (01:12:41) Beautiful happens in the brain if the (01:12:42) person can sustain this and they're in (01:12:45) that Theta State Theta becomes the (01:12:49) carrier wave and right within the brain (01:12:52) you start to see Alpha Waves building on (01:12:55) theta waves and then alpha waves in (01:12:58) harmonics into beta waves and harmonics (01:13:01) into high beta and then High beta (01:13:03) ultimately into gamma and now the person (01:13:06) is (01:13:07) relaxed and very awake because gamma is (01:13:11) superconsciousness it is super awareness (01:13:14) so the the formula of being relaxed and (01:13:17) awake and synchronizing your heart to (01:13:19) your brain causes the brain to move into (01:13:21) a state of what's called resonance and (01:13:24) resonance is when you have w waves on (01:13:26) top of waves harmonics and the Brain (01:13:28) starts functioning in a more resonance (01:13:30) State sometimes even people have Delta (01:13:32) as the base carrying Theta and Theta (01:13:35) carrying Alpha and Alpha carrying beta (01:13:36) to high beta to gamma and they're all (01:13:38) waves within waves and as those waves (01:13:41) come together if they're if they're (01:13:43) coherent they interfere and create a (01:13:44) bigger wave and then those waves come (01:13:46) together and they interfere and they (01:13:47) create bigger waves and that's exactly (01:13:49) how the energy in the brain goes up so (01:13:52) we have brain scans of people who whose (01:13:56) gamma brain waves are 200 300 400 (01:14:01) standard deviations outside of normal (01:14:03) I'm going give you an idea three (01:14:05) standard deviations outside of normal is (01:14:06) 2% of the population so they're they're (01:14:09) processing an enormous amount of energy (01:14:11) in their brain and it feels really good (01:14:15) really good so we practice a lot (01:14:18) synchronizing the heart to the brain if (01:14:19) you do like MDMA or something does that (01:14:22) put you into some of these brain waves (01:14:24) I'm wondering if any psychedelics are (01:14:26) inducing of these states we're going to (01:14:27) do a comparative study actually um this (01:14:29) year with psychedelics and meditation I (01:14:32) can I can answer that question more (01:14:34) definitively what we do know from fmri (01:14:37) studies with (01:14:38) psilocybin is that the default mode (01:14:40) Network in the brain the one I was (01:14:42) talking about earlier that's always the (01:14:43) brain's (01:14:44) predictor that that shuts off in a in a (01:14:47) with with a psilocybin and that's (01:14:49) exactly what we see in our our our (01:14:53) Advanced meditators and our fmis (01:14:56) that those people that are having a (01:14:57) mystical experience right in the (01:15:00) MRI looks like they're taking psilocybin (01:15:03) the same exact the same exact brain (01:15:05) circuits are turned off on this um Theta (01:15:08) wave you talking about how that's really (01:15:11) where a lot of the reprogramming can (01:15:12) happen so do I need to be in that state (01:15:17) and then be exposed to some kind of (01:15:20) stimulus sound good question good (01:15:23) question um well I'll answer in three (01:15:25) ways first way is when you're conscious (01:15:30) in your subconscious mind and you're (01:15:32) trained to imagine whatever it is that (01:15:35) you want you're going to begin to Signal (01:15:38) your autonomic nervous system to start (01:15:40) manufacturing chemicals equal to your (01:15:43) intention in other words the intention (01:15:45) of whatever you're thinking about acts (01:15:47) as information that begins to change (01:15:50) your biology so Theta is a great way to (01:15:54) open up the door (01:15:56) we also use Theta um when we want to (01:16:00) program people because it's a hypnotic (01:16:02) state to a mystical experience and if (01:16:05) they're in that state remember when (01:16:07) you're suggestible you accept believe (01:16:10) and surrender to information as if it's (01:16:12) the truth without analyzing it and (01:16:15) that's what programs people's biology (01:16:16) right so you can program somebody into (01:16:19) believing they need a drug and you can (01:16:22) program somebody to believing in just (01:16:23) about anything but you could also (01:16:25) program them for a mystical experience (01:16:26) and that's what we do now so we can do (01:16:30) that by giving them information when (01:16:32) they're in that hypnotic state they're (01:16:34) very suggestible but we're only going to (01:16:36) do it in a way that's going to be (01:16:37) beneficial to them and then the Third (01:16:40) Way is something that we really (01:16:42) discovered that we weren't (01:16:44) expecting let's see how I can say this (01:16:46) and make it (01:16:48) simple um there's particle and wave (01:16:51) there's matter and energy and so if your (01:16:56) all of your attention is on this (01:16:57) three-dimensional World um you're you're (01:17:00) unaware of energy so have a person close (01:17:02) their eyes and take their attention off (01:17:05) of everything physical everything (01:17:07) material everything known and go from a (01:17:10) narrow Focus to a broadened focus and as (01:17:13) they sense the space they're actually (01:17:14) putting their attention on that (01:17:16) invisible field of energy that exists (01:17:18) beyond our senses the quantum field (01:17:21) right and that field is carrying an (01:17:24) enormous amount of information so when a (01:17:27) person moves into Theta and I ask them (01:17:30) to open their awareness if they're in a (01:17:33) certain range of theta we can just about (01:17:35) predict 100% of the time that that (01:17:38) person is going to connect to (01:17:40) information now not information coming (01:17:43) from their senses like a hypnotist could (01:17:45) put you in a trans and Theta and give (01:17:47) you suggestions and you could program (01:17:49) you but you're still in the same state (01:17:53) that hypnotic state but your eyes are (01:17:54) closed there's music playing in the (01:17:56) background you're not eating you're not (01:17:57) tasting you're not smelling you're not (01:17:59) feeling with your body but you're still (01:18:01) suggestible to information there's only (01:18:03) one other place you can find information (01:18:06) and that's (01:18:07) frequency and frequency carries (01:18:09) information so when a person starts to (01:18:12) connect to energy to frequency and the (01:18:15) thinking neocortex is dialed down the (01:18:18) moment they connect to that energy and (01:18:20) frequency the brain goes into these very (01:18:22) very high states of gamma brain wave (01:18:25) patterns they're connecting to a greater (01:18:28) level of energy a greater level of order (01:18:29) and they arousal that's felt when they (01:18:32) have this (01:18:33) connection which is normally typically (01:18:36) fear or anger or pain the arousal is (01:18:40) ecstasy the arousal is bliss that's the (01:18:42) they say I don't have the words to (01:18:45) describe the feeling that I just had (01:18:47) right so they're dipping Closer To (01:18:49) Source they're dipping closer to a (01:18:51) greater energy and frequency and it's (01:18:53) being reflected in their biology when we (01:18:55) see people move into these elegant (01:18:57) states of high gamma it's primarily in (01:19:00) their autonomic nervous system it's very (01:19:03) fast and it's very coherent now if (01:19:06) stress is autonomic (01:19:08) disregulation and they're functioning in (01:19:10) a very very high energetic state in (01:19:13) their autonomic nervous system coherent (01:19:16) gamma brain waves then there's an (01:19:17) enormous amount of autonomic regulation (01:19:20) and the autonomic nervous system (01:19:22) controls and coordinates all other (01:19:23) systems now watch watch out because now (01:19:25) the tuning fork is sending information (01:19:29) to every cell and tissue and organ in (01:19:32) the body and when people move into these (01:19:34) states many times when they come back (01:19:38) they get a biological upgrade somehow (01:19:41) Energy starts to inform matter and the (01:19:43) whole body is lifted by light by lifted (01:19:46) by frequency when we when we draw the (01:19:48) blood from people who who have these (01:19:51) kind of moments we look for information (01:19:53) in the blood (01:19:56) there's information in the blood that (01:19:57) we've discovered that stops the covid (01:20:01) virus from entering the cell we've (01:20:03) isolated the protein that inhibits the (01:20:06) virus from entering the cell in other (01:20:07) words we've done the studies called (01:20:09) adoptive transfers we've taken Advanced (01:20:11) meditators blood and we've put it in U a (01:20:15) culture with A2 receptors cells that (01:20:17) have A2 receptors and then expose the A2 (01:20:21) receptor to the to a pseudovirus like a (01:20:24) CO virus (01:20:25) and in advanced meditators we noticed (01:20:27) that the virus couldn't enter the cell (01:20:29) it was stuck to the outside of the cell (01:20:31) and we isolated a protein in the (01:20:34) advanced meditator blood that inhibits (01:20:36) the virus from entering the (01:20:37) cell those people that have those (01:20:39) transcendental moments as I said 84% of (01:20:43) them 84% of them have information in (01:20:47) their blood that causes the (01:20:50) mitochondrial function and glycolytic (01:20:51) function in cancer cells to shut off (01:20:54) there's information in the blood for (01:20:56) neurogenesis uh for um the microbiome (01:21:00) completely changed at the end of 7 Days (01:21:03) completely different microbiome uh (01:21:05) without changing their diet at all (01:21:08) they're still eating the same food but (01:21:10) they're not the same person right (01:21:11) there's some kind of change that creates (01:21:13) a lot of probiotic microbes I remember (01:21:17) reading a study of um whm Hof the ican (01:21:21) where they injected him with a virus and (01:21:23) I think they injected other people with (01:21:25) the virus and through his breath work (01:21:27) and meditations and whatever else he did (01:21:29) the virus didn't infect him but it (01:21:32) infected the other people and then I (01:21:33) think in the study they he trained other (01:21:35) people to be able to reject the virus as (01:21:38) well and all of this kind of sounds a (01:21:40) little bit woooo to the average person (01:21:42) because to think that you can do (01:21:44) something to prevent a virus infecting (01:21:48) you I mean it blows the doors open to (01:21:50) like personal responsibility and yes of (01:21:53) course you know which is yeah troubling (01:21:55) for people I think yeah well we (01:21:57) published the paper um it got published (01:21:59) in a scientific journal um people can (01:22:01) see it online um well if you keep (01:22:03) practicing being greater than your (01:22:05) environment you'll be greater than your (01:22:07) environment that's that's just how it is (01:22:09) in other words if your response to your (01:22:11) environment doesn't weaken you but (01:22:13) strengthens you then the innate (01:22:15) intelligence of your body will have an (01:22:16) intelligence that will cause you to be (01:22:18) greater than your environment right down (01:22:20) to the microb and that is where you keep (01:22:23) referencing the term advanced meditator (01:22:25) cuz you don't say normal meditators well (01:22:28) what I will say is I'll say well it's (01:22:30) kind of funny when I use that term I can (01:22:32) only use that term because many people (01:22:34) that come to our weekl long Retreats (01:22:36) Stephen they're they're novices they've (01:22:38) never really meditated before their (01:22:40) spouse or their boyfriend or girlfriend (01:22:42) brought them or their co-work or their (01:22:44) friend or you know they're just kind of (01:22:45) like whatever you know I don't really (01:22:48) know what I'm getting myself (01:22:50) into the novice meditator who just kind (01:22:52) of practices a little bit that goes (01:22:54) through the immersive experience at the (01:22:57) end of s days their brains look like (01:22:59) Advanced meditators at the end of seven (01:23:01) days their biology their blood values (01:23:05) look like they've been meditating for (01:23:07) years in other words at the end of seven (01:23:10) days those Advanced medit those (01:23:12) meditators that were novice meditators (01:23:14) that look like Advanced meditators are (01:23:16) upregulating thousands of genes in their (01:23:19) biology to suggest that they're living (01:23:21) in a whole new life a whole new (01:23:23) environment and they're in a ballroom (01:23:25) and there's nothing very stimulating (01:23:27) about a ballroom so whatever they're (01:23:29) doing inside of them inside of (01:23:31) themselves somehow is causing dramatic (01:23:34) changes now we looked at we looked at a (01:23:37) group of people we looked at their (01:23:38) genotype and genes make proteins and (01:23:40) your gene expression is different than (01:23:42) mine different than every single person (01:23:44) so everybody has their own unique (01:23:45) genotype which means they all make their (01:23:47) own individual proteins at the end of (01:23:50) seven days when we looked at those (01:23:51) meditators at the end of seven days (01:23:54) almost 80% of the (01:23:56) population was making the same genes and (01:24:00) the same proteins they were signaling (01:24:01) the same genes and making the same (01:24:03) proteins what does that mean that means (01:24:05) when people behave in the same way (01:24:08) there's an emergent Consciousness that (01:24:11) comes forth that's reflected in people's (01:24:14) biology the flock the herd the tribe (01:24:19) everybody's evolving together (01:24:21) biologically at these Retreats these (01:24:24) 7-Day retreats one of the things I was (01:24:25) pretty shocked by was the amount of time (01:24:28) people spend (01:24:29) meditating yeah how long do people spend (01:24:32) meditating and why is that (01:24:35) important our events are a spiritual (01:24:38) Rave I me that's the best way I can (01:24:40) describe it I mean we start at 6:00 in (01:24:42) the morning and we finish at 700 or 8 at (01:24:44) night and the days go by extremely fast (01:24:47) there's standing and walking meditations (01:24:49) we do sometimes four or five of them (01:24:51) sometimes six at a weekl long event why (01:24:53) because you got to embody you got to get (01:24:55) really good at doing it with your eyes (01:24:56) open um we do laying down meditations (01:24:59) after we get people to a certain point (01:25:01) where I know they're not going to fall (01:25:02) asleep when they lay down and so and (01:25:05) then we do some big uh meditations that (01:25:08) are that are a little bit more longer (01:25:09) but people are up and down the whole (01:25:11) entire time none of the (01:25:13) meditations will ever be done without (01:25:16) knowledge beforehand because knowledge (01:25:19) is the precursor uh to the (01:25:22) experience so so it's it's an immersive (01:25:25) experience um yeah turns out to be about (01:25:28) 35 hours of meditation when it's all (01:25:30) said and done but you ask anybody who (01:25:32) does a weeklong event they'll say I'm so (01:25:35) I have I can't wait to get back into my (01:25:37) life and start my practice because I (01:25:39) what I was doing when I got here was (01:25:42) nothing like I'm doing now right so now (01:25:44) they're more equipped and really they're (01:25:46) they're kind of in a different body (01:25:48) they're walking back into a new life and (01:25:50) you know they're they're not on the same (01:25:51) line of time any longer that's the (01:25:53) experience that I can (01:25:55) profess to be true in my own (01:25:57) relationship and life because my partner (01:25:58) came back from the medit the meditations (01:26:00) she came back from the week in Miami (01:26:02) where she was doing the walking (01:26:03) meditations down the beach and so on and (01:26:06) it didn't stop there in fact that was (01:26:08) really the start of her journey because (01:26:09) every morning now she has this new (01:26:10) routine where she meditates in the (01:26:12) morning and no one's telling her to do (01:26:15) that but clearly the benefit has been so (01:26:16) great for her that that she's continued (01:26:18) the the the practice and she does it (01:26:20) every day it's I'm like I'm so amazed by (01:26:23) it because it takes a (01:26:25) there must like it takes a certain I was (01:26:28) going to say the word discipline but (01:26:29) it's not discipline because if you're so (01:26:30) clear on the the benefit of an action (01:26:32) you don't necessarily need like (01:26:33) discipline it's just clearly done so (01:26:35) much for her that she's continued to do (01:26:37) it thereafter and it's funny because (01:26:39) obviously she she came back from it I (01:26:40) was supposed to attend I had a Visa (01:26:41) issue she came back from it and told me (01:26:44) about the process and her recounting it (01:26:46) like objectively you go God that must (01:26:48) have been hard and uncomfortable or that (01:26:50) must have been whatever but her (01:26:52) experience was very much the opposite it (01:26:54) was joyous it was filling she came back (01:26:57) so unbelievably obsessed with this new (01:27:00) set of sort of systems and information (01:27:02) that could better her life and it's (01:27:04) really it's really profound like you can (01:27:06) hear it on a podcast but then when you (01:27:07) kind of witness it in someone someone (01:27:09) you know well in love it's incredibly (01:27:11) persuasive yeah well that I mean that's (01:27:14) what I want I want people to walk out (01:27:16) into their life and not say you need to (01:27:19) shorten the refractory period of your (01:27:21) emotional responses you need to forgive (01:27:23) you need to get your brain or heart (01:27:25) coherent I don't I don't want anybody in (01:27:27) my work to do that I want them to walk (01:27:29) out into the world and be the example so (01:27:31) so much so that people go what what's (01:27:33) what's what's up with you you're (01:27:35) different like I you know you're you (01:27:37) seem different you know what is it you (01:27:38) know and that's when I think the real (01:27:40) conversation starts (01:27:42) so that's a that's that it's (01:27:44) instrumental when it becomes (01:27:45) instrumental and you apply it to your (01:27:47) life and it's working for you is it's (01:27:49) not a have to as I said it's something (01:27:51) that you really enjoy doing and uh wow (01:27:54) what what a crazy Sovereign idea that (01:27:58) you could actually make yourself happy (01:28:01) what a crazy idea when you when you hit (01:28:03) those gamma moments where you feel a (01:28:05) level of love you have never felt in (01:28:07) your entire life by connecting the (01:28:09) source which is pure love and you stop (01:28:12) looking for it outside of you you start (01:28:14) realizing it's within you that's a big (01:28:16) moment right because then you won't you (01:28:18) won't need anybody or anything that's (01:28:20) that's Freedom that's unconditional love (01:28:22) right you'll get out of want use that (01:28:24) that time a few times yeah yeah I mean (01:28:26) like like want like we we've been (01:28:30) trained to create based on lack that's (01:28:33) what we do in threedimensional reality (01:28:34) in threedimensional reality you see (01:28:36) someone that that has a sports car and (01:28:37) you don't have one and you like that (01:28:39) sports car all of a sudden you want that (01:28:41) sports car your brain starts creating (01:28:43) based on lack of of not having it you (01:28:46) see a someone in a scarf and you like (01:28:47) that scarf and next thing you know (01:28:50) you're wearing that scarf your brain (01:28:51) imagines you having it right but the way (01:28:54) we get it in threedimensional reality is (01:28:56) we have to do something this is the (01:28:57) plane of demonstration so then when we (01:29:00) finally get the scarf and we finally get (01:29:02) the car the experience of getting the (01:29:04) car produces the emotion that takes away (01:29:07) the lack or separation of not having it (01:29:09) so some people spend their whole life in (01:29:11) lack waiting for the thing to come (01:29:13) around to take away the the feeling of (01:29:17) lack or separation right my message is (01:29:19) not that my message is actually to (01:29:22) create in a different way in such a way (01:29:24) that you feel like it has already (01:29:26) happened now the power behind all of (01:29:29) that is that the person now who's who's (01:29:32) who's in that state where they're (01:29:34) feeling like the event has already (01:29:36) happened they no longer want it because (01:29:38) they're feeling the emotion what how (01:29:40) could they they wouldn't be looking for (01:29:41) it you only look for it when you (01:29:43) experience lack if you feel like it's (01:29:44) already happened you're no longer (01:29:46) separate from it and we cannot attract (01:29:48) anything in our life we feel separate (01:29:50) from and so feeling that emotion somehow (01:29:53) starts to draw (01:29:55) things to us and now we're not having to (01:29:57) do anything and things are starting to (01:29:59) come to us that's the synchronicities (01:30:01) that's the coincidences that's the (01:30:03) opportunities we're not doing anything (01:30:04) they're coming to us and that's so so (01:30:07) you can't when you create from that (01:30:10) Quantum field instead of from (01:30:12) matter you can't create from lack (01:30:16) because the thought of your wealth in (01:30:18) the quantum produces the feeling of (01:30:20) abundance the thought of your wealth and (01:30:22) three-dimensional reality for many (01:30:23) people produ is the lack of not having (01:30:25) it so the in the quantum there's a whole (01:30:28) different set of rules and and it's not (01:30:30) something that you know you learn right (01:30:31) away it's you learn from trial and error (01:30:34) so so then when we create truly create (01:30:37) in the act of creation and we are (01:30:40) creating from the field instead of from (01:30:42) matter to shorten the distance between (01:30:44) the thought of what we want and (01:30:45) experience of having it the only way (01:30:47) that we can do that is we can't create (01:30:49) from lack so in the creative process we (01:30:52) create from wholeness my conern when I (01:30:54) hear that is well Jo if I no longer want (01:30:56) if I no longer live in a state of want (01:30:58) am I going to have the motivation to get (01:31:00) up and go because I look at my life and (01:31:02) go well it was your creating from a (01:31:04) place of lack that motivated you to (01:31:06) start a podcast and to start run (01:31:08) businesses and do all of these things (01:31:09) and get a car and whatever else no I'm (01:31:11) not disputing that I think I think you (01:31:13) do that for a while you do that for a (01:31:15) while and I I always tell people I don't (01:31:17) care what you want to create I just want (01:31:19) you to get really good at creating I (01:31:21) don't care if it's I don't care what it (01:31:22) is wealth I don't care what it is car (01:31:24) you know whatever it is vacations houses (01:31:27) I don't care just get good at creating (01:31:30) but sooner or later that the novelty (01:31:32) will wear off on all of that and you you (01:31:34) you'll want to know that on some level (01:31:36) there's more (01:31:37) so so you we always desire things we (01:31:40) always want things but when we're in the (01:31:42) creative process we cannot create from (01:31:45) the lack of not having it we have to (01:31:48) create from the feeling of having it (01:31:50) right and so in the quantum you got to (01:31:53) feel it to experience (01:31:56) it this one change has transformed how (01:31:59) my team and I move train and think about (01:32:01) our bodies when doctor Daniel Lieberman (01:32:03) came on the DI of CEO he explained how (01:32:05) modern shoes with their cushioning and (01:32:07) support are making our feet weaker and (01:32:10) that's capable of doing what nature (01:32:11) intended them to do we've lost the (01:32:13) natural strength and mobility in our (01:32:15) feet and this is leading to issues like (01:32:17) back pain and knee pain I'd already (01:32:20) purchased a pair of Viva barefoot shoes (01:32:22) so I showed them to Daniel liberman and (01:32:23) he told me that they were exactly the (01:32:25) type of shoe that would help me restore (01:32:27) natural foot movement and rebuild my (01:32:29) strength but I think it was plti fitis (01:32:30) that I had where suddenly my feet (01:32:31) started hurting all the time and after (01:32:33) that I decided to start strengthening my (01:32:35) own foot by using the Viva Barefoot and (01:32:37) research from Liverpool university has (01:32:38) backed this up they've shown that (01:32:39) wearing Vivo barefoot shoes for 6 months (01:32:42) can increase foot strength by up to (01:32:45) 60% visit Vivo (01:32:53) barfoot.co.nz / (01:32:56) doac use code do ac20 a strong body (01:33:00) starts with strong feet quick one I want (01:33:03) to talk to you about our sponsor whoop a (01:33:05) business I'm also an investor in and if (01:33:07) you follow me on Instagram you probably (01:33:09) noticed that recently I've picked up (01:33:10) running which I'm very much enjoying and (01:33:12) it started out as a challenge but it's (01:33:14) now evolved into something I do almost (01:33:16) daily it is one of those things that's (01:33:18) pushing me to be better every single day (01:33:20) but here's the thing to me progress (01:33:22) isn't just about pushing harder it's (01:33:23) also about training in a smarter way (01:33:25) which is where my whoop comes in whoop (01:33:28) doesn't just track my workouts it tells (01:33:29) me how ready my body is to take them on (01:33:32) before I've even started the workout a (01:33:34) few years ago we ran a study called (01:33:36) project PR and it found that Runners who (01:33:38) adjusted their training based on their (01:33:40) recovery scores improved their 5K times (01:33:43) by an average of 2 minutes and 40 (01:33:46) seconds while reducing injury Risk by (01:33:48) over 30% and they did it while training (01:33:50) less so if you're looking for this type (01:33:52) of guidance when it comes to your train (01:33:54) training head over to join. woop.com CEO (01:33:57) and get a 30-day trial with zero (01:33:59) commitment that's join. woop.com (01:34:02) let me know how you get (01:34:04) on when you say in the quantum oh I was (01:34:08) hoping you wouldn't (01:34:09) go oh God because people are going to (01:34:12) hear you say that and they're going to (01:34:13) say I wonder what he means by the (01:34:13) quantum okay the (01:34:16) probability that we're perceiving the (01:34:18) truth of (01:34:19) reality is (01:34:21) zero that that there's (01:34:24) more (01:34:26) information in the inmaterial than (01:34:29) there'll ever be in the (01:34:30) material and that information that (01:34:33) exists in the inmaterial that the the (01:34:35) senses cannot perceive the senses can (01:34:37) only perceive three-dimensional reality (01:34:39) objects and things and places and people (01:34:41) and (01:34:42) bodies there's an invisible field of (01:34:44) energy the the atom is both particle (01:34:47) matter and wave or energy right but all (01:34:50) we see is the material element and the (01:34:53) atom is (01:34:56) 99.999999% information and energy and (01:35:00) 0 (01:35:02) 1% matter so the brain has been shaped (01:35:05) and molded from Generations Untold in (01:35:09) living in Survival by narrowing our (01:35:12) focus on the material world the stress (01:35:14) hormones heighten our senses and when we (01:35:16) our senses are heightened we become (01:35:18) materialist so live in survival for (01:35:20) thousands and thousands of years energy (01:35:22) is not important when you're being (01:35:24) chased by (01:35:25) T-Rex uh energy is not important when (01:35:28) you're looking for food right you got to (01:35:29) narrow your focus and and so the brain (01:35:33) cannot perceive energy or frequency so (01:35:36) what we're seeing is really symbols or (01:35:39) just out picturing of the most stable (01:35:42) form of energy called matter and our (01:35:44) senses collapse it into what appears to (01:35:47) be (01:35:48) material but the quantum field is that (01:35:51) other field of energy and information (01:35:53) that exists beyond our senses Beyond (01:35:56) this material world whose signature is (01:35:59) Oneness his signature is wholeness who (01:36:02) signature is connection whose signature (01:36:04) is love pure love and so if you spend (01:36:08) your whole life with all of your (01:36:11) attention on your body your environment (01:36:13) and time all of your attention is in (01:36:15) this three-dimensional reality then you (01:36:16) got to play by the rules and the rules (01:36:18) are Newtonian physics you got to predict (01:36:20) everything it's going to take time and (01:36:22) energy for you to get everything you (01:36:24) want in your life okay you can get (01:36:25) really good at that you can get really (01:36:27) good you can get skilled you can get (01:36:28) trained you can get coached you can (01:36:30) learn you can go to school you can learn (01:36:32) from your mistakes you can gather a lot (01:36:34) of things you get really good at (01:36:36) that but is there another way to create (01:36:39) okay well Einstein said the field the (01:36:43) wave the energy is the sole governing (01:36:47) agency of the particle energy controls (01:36:49) matter he didn't say the particle (01:36:51) controls the particle he said the field (01:36:53) control controls the particle if you (01:36:56) change the information in the field can (01:36:58) you change the projection the particle (01:37:01) in three dimensional reality this is a (01:37:03) holographic Universe okay so if the if (01:37:06) the quantum field is an invisible field (01:37:09) of energy that exists beyond our senses (01:37:11) beyond our body our environment and time (01:37:13) then the only way we are going to (01:37:15) connect to it is take all of our (01:37:16) attention off our body all of our (01:37:18) attention off the environment what's the (01:37:19) environment made of people objects (01:37:22) things places and and take all of your (01:37:24) attention off of linear time the (01:37:26) predictable future and the familiar past (01:37:28) and find The Sweet Spot of the generous (01:37:30) present moment that's the unknown that's (01:37:32) the door that's the moment you become (01:37:34) nobody no one no thing nowhere no time (01:37:36) that is the moment you are pure (01:37:39) Consciousness and it's no different than (01:37:41) me saying to (01:37:42) you stay alive I'm going to take away (01:37:44) your eyesight I'm going to take away (01:37:46) your hearing I'm going to take away your (01:37:47) smell I'm going to take away your taste (01:37:48) I'm going to take away you feeling with (01:37:49) your body and if I take away all of your (01:37:52) senses who are you your Consciousness (01:37:55) right your Consciousness consciousness (01:37:57) of what nothing nothing but what you and (01:38:00) the act of becoming conscious of nothing (01:38:04) and becoming nobody no one no thing (01:38:07) nowhere and no time is the eye of the (01:38:09) needle and that is the moment you're (01:38:11) walking through the door to the quantum (01:38:13) field and when you walk through that (01:38:14) door the game changes it's all energy (01:38:18) it's all frequency it's all vibration (01:38:19) it's all connected it's all thought it's (01:38:22) all Consciousness it's all information (01:38:24) right and so you got to train your brain (01:38:26) like when you pass through you're not (01:38:28) you any longer you're not your body any (01:38:30) longer you're your body here your pure (01:38:32) Consciousness and that void or that (01:38:35) vacuum or that nothing whatever you want (01:38:36) to call that is rich in frequency and (01:38:39) energy so have people linger there (01:38:42) without a name without a skin color (01:38:44) without a gender without a diet without (01:38:46) a face without a past without a social (01:38:48) security number without a profession (01:38:50) without being a mother father a kid (01:38:52) linger there as pure Consciousness lay (01:38:53) the the character down and get (01:38:55) comfortable in nothing in the (01:38:57) unknown okay now that you're there if (01:39:00) it's all frequency and it's all energy (01:39:02) then the next thing we have to do then (01:39:04) is get our brain coherent because (01:39:06) thought is the electrical charge it's (01:39:09) the impulse in the quantum field and the (01:39:12) feeling the elevated emotion is the (01:39:14) magnetic charge if you take a thought (01:39:16) and a feeling an image and an emotion a (01:39:19) vision of the future with a coherent (01:39:20) brain and a coherent heart you got a (01:39:22) whole new Wi-Fi signal now you're (01:39:24) broadcasting new information into the (01:39:26) field and you're connected to this field (01:39:28) keep changing the information in the (01:39:30) field you're going to change the destiny (01:39:33) of your experience in matter and so we (01:39:35) teach people how to get to that place (01:39:38) get their brains and hearts coherent and (01:39:41) learn how to create by changing the (01:39:43) information in the field to ultimately (01:39:45) create the experience they want in three (01:39:47) dimensional reality and when there's a (01:39:49) vibrational match between their energy (01:39:52) and some potential in the quantum field (01:39:54) and they're creating from the source of (01:39:56) everything physical why would they go (01:39:58) anywhere to get it if you're the source (01:40:01) you would draw to you so then creating (01:40:04) from the field instead of from (01:40:06) matter can literally shorten the (01:40:09) distance between the thought of what you (01:40:12) want and the experience of having it (01:40:14) instead of going and having to do (01:40:15) something to get it it starts coming to (01:40:18) you and that's another way to create and (01:40:21) again it all starts with getting out of (01:40:23) the future in the past and into the the (01:40:25) overcoming process the first couple days (01:40:28) is Val more valuable than all the gold (01:40:30) in the world for people though they'll (01:40:32) say oh my God I had such a terrible (01:40:34) story I had such a belief oh my God I (01:40:37) just I was so addicted to those emotions (01:40:39) they'll tell you and they just have you (01:40:41) just have to sit with yourself long (01:40:44) enough to no longer want to feel that (01:40:45) way and we just give people the tools to (01:40:48) get them from the old self to the new (01:40:51) self to cross that River it's quite (01:40:53) compelling idea that I might be addicted (01:40:55) to negative emotions or emotions that (01:40:57) aren't productive to me in any way even (01:40:59) that as an idea well take the idea like (01:41:01) this if you were angry right now or you (01:41:04) were feeling sad and I came up to you (01:41:07) and I said Hey Stephen listen I know (01:41:09) you're really miffed right now I know (01:41:11) you're feeling really down whatever um (01:41:14) but just (01:41:14) stop just stop getting just stop being (01:41:17) there just stop if you can't stop that (01:41:20) then on some level you must be addicted (01:41:21) to it right if you if you truly were not (01:41:25) addicted to it you would be able to just (01:41:27) turn it off right so so when people (01:41:30) start to see that they're like oh my god (01:41:32) um yeah I could be addicted to that it's (01:41:34) a good moment for people what's it doing (01:41:36) for me well the long-term effects of (01:41:39) doing that I mean we can turn on the (01:41:41) stress response just by thought alone (01:41:44) you could think about your problems and (01:41:45) you could produce the same chemistry as (01:41:47) if it was (01:41:49) real the long-term effects of the (01:41:51) hormones of stress down regul genes and (01:41:54) create disease and if you can turn on (01:41:56) that stress response just by thought (01:41:57) alone that means your thoughts can make (01:41:59) you sick if I know it's bad for me like (01:42:02) no one wants to feel sad so why am I (01:42:04) choosing to feel sad there's nothing (01:42:06) wrong with feeling sad it's just how (01:42:08) long you want to stay there or angry or (01:42:09) fearful I don't want to feel that yeah (01:42:12) so again here we go trial and error you (01:42:15) got to catch yourself and you got to go (01:42:17) because because when you're feeling sad (01:42:19) as an example or you're feeling angry or (01:42:22) whatever (01:42:24) for the most part uh you want to stay (01:42:27) there many people like it's just (01:42:29) comfortable it's it's some people find a (01:42:32) lot of comfort in being unhappy they're (01:42:34) really happy being unhappy so so if you (01:42:38) want to evolve your experience in life (01:42:41) you would say I can change this I (01:42:43) literally can change it let me sit down (01:42:46) and change my emotional state if this (01:42:48) emotion is causing me me to view my (01:42:51) reality through the lens of the past if (01:42:54) this reality is downregulating my genes (01:42:56) and creating disease if this reality (01:42:58) feeling this emotion is causing me to (01:43:00) behave as if I'm in a past reality if a (01:43:04) feeling this emotion causes me to (01:43:05) believe in my past more than my future H (01:43:09) maybe it's not s such a good idea that I (01:43:11) stay there so so Justified or (01:43:14) not valid or not the only person that (01:43:17) that emotion is affecting is you sooner (01:43:20) or later I think when people start (01:43:22) realizing I can change my emotional (01:43:23) state and they really sit down even (01:43:25) though they don't want to do it they do (01:43:27) it that's when they start feeling a lot (01:43:28) of worth Joe what is the most important (01:43:31) question based on all of your work and (01:43:33) all that you do and all that you're (01:43:34) thinking about at this exact moment and (01:43:36) the subject of change and transformation (01:43:38) that I should have asked you (01:43:41) oo is it possible that the human nervous (01:43:46) system the autonomic nervous system (01:43:49) manufactures a pharmacy of chemicals (01:43:51) that works better than any drug (01:43:54) is it possible that the human nervous (01:43:56) system (01:43:57) manufactures a pharmacy of chemicals (01:43:59) that works better than any drug Joe the (01:44:01) answer is absolutely yes that's what our (01:44:03) data shows and it's not pseudo science (01:44:05) our data shows that the autonomic (01:44:08) nervous system can manufacture a (01:44:10) pharmacy of chemicals that works better (01:44:11) than any drug a drug trial is about uh (01:44:15) uh 25% effective one out of four people (01:44:18) have a response and it's normally over a (01:44:21) length of time 60 to 90 days (01:44:24) what our data shows is (01:44:26) that (01:44:28) 75 as I said 84 90 95 100% of the people (01:44:35) that are involved in a 7-Day event have (01:44:37) these effects so even if it's (01:44:40) 75% that means it's working three times (01:44:43) better than any drug and yet your (01:44:45) nervous system is manufacturing those (01:44:46) chemicals equal to the person's state of (01:44:48) being equal to their intention and and I (01:44:51) keep telling I keep asking the scien is (01:44:54) where are those chemicals coming from (01:44:59) the person's not eating a pill they're (01:45:03) not changing their diet they're not (01:45:05) doing anything and yet what wasn't there (01:45:09) before the event somehow is there after (01:45:12) the event it's coming from within us is (01:45:15) that because of some of the sort of (01:45:19) techniques and the processes you go (01:45:21) through at the event is it because of (01:45:22) the connect of a group of people coming (01:45:24) together and synchronizing and the (01:45:26) oxytocin is it all of the above it's all (01:45:28) of the above I mean almost 80% of the (01:45:30) people expressing the same genes and (01:45:32) making the same proteins that's unheard (01:45:34) of what we discovered is people change (01:45:36) people that's what we disc we discovered (01:45:38) that Collective networks of observers (01:45:41) determine reality and it's not the (01:45:44) number of people it's not the amount of (01:45:45) energy it's the most coherence that (01:45:47) takes place in the in the group and so (01:45:49) we're doing studies now with with (01:45:51) Collective networks we're doing studies (01:45:53) and measuring the effects of collective (01:45:56) Consciousness what does that do uh uh in (01:45:59) terms of field effects and and energy (01:46:02) when you say all of this and you talk (01:46:04) about this relationship between the body (01:46:05) and the mind it um it keeps making me (01:46:07) wonder about your beliefs of a higher (01:46:11) power or a God because it all sounds I (01:46:14) mean the more and more I learn about the (01:46:15) body and how interconnected it is it all (01:46:17) sounds just mystical it's the only way (01:46:20) to describe it so I wondered as you were (01:46:22) speaking I wrote down on my a lipad here (01:46:24) I said does Joe believe in God I do I do (01:46:26) I think there's one God but in that one (01:46:28) there's many yeah what is that mean that (01:46:31) means that means that God Lives within (01:46:33) you the Divine lives in every human (01:46:35) being that's what I believe and I think (01:46:38) it's really important for people to make (01:46:39) time for it to connect to it to fall in (01:46:42) love with it to stay aware of it to (01:46:43) bring it into their life by staying (01:46:46) aware of it and connecting to it and I (01:46:48) think the more we interact with it I (01:46:50) think the more it becomes us and the (01:46:52) more we become it and so removing the (01:46:55) veils the blocks the emotions the habits (01:46:59) the blind spots that stand in our way (01:47:01) between our connection to that unifying (01:47:05) field or God or the absolute or the (01:47:07) Creator or universal mind or Source or (01:47:10) Singularity the zero point field the (01:47:13) fertile void whatever you want to call (01:47:14) it the motherf father principle making (01:47:17) time to interact with it by removing the (01:47:20) things that stand in the way between us (01:47:22) and it allows us to get closer to love (01:47:25) right and I think that's what God is so (01:47:28) the expression of the (01:47:30) Divine the expression of God through the (01:47:33) human being would be a a person that's (01:47:36) more conscious more mindful more willful (01:47:40) more loving uh um um more giving that's (01:47:43) the nature of the Divine so its nature (01:47:45) becomes our nature right so I do believe (01:47:49) that um we're not linear beings living a (01:47:51) linear life I believe that we're (01:47:53) dimensional beings living a dimensional (01:47:55) life and and I do believe in that (01:47:58) Universal uh mind that Universal Power (01:48:01) and and making time to use it and to (01:48:03) interact with it and connect with it and (01:48:05) to reach for it and to become it um I (01:48:08) think it's a worthy Journey for people (01:48:10) thank you so much for the work that you (01:48:11) do it's a perfect sort of combination of (01:48:14) all the things that I think I care about (01:48:15) but also I think my audience care about (01:48:17) and if they are looking to go deeper (01:48:20) Beyond this podcast I would highly (01:48:22) recommend them trying to get a ticket to (01:48:24) one of your events very hard to get (01:48:26) tickets to your events so good luck to (01:48:28) you but I would highly recommend they go (01:48:29) to your website and they can see a full (01:48:31) list of events that you have coming up (01:48:33) there because it can be um from (01:49:00) jealousy the hardest conversations are (01:49:02) often the ones we avoid but what if you (01:49:04) had the right question to start them (01:49:06) with every single guest on the DI of CEO (01:49:08) has left behind a question in this diary (01:49:12) and it's a question designed to (01:49:13) challenge to connect and to go deeper (01:49:15) with the next guest and these are all (01:49:17) the questions that I have here in my (01:49:19) hand on one side you've got the question (01:49:22) that was asked the name of the person (01:49:24) who wrote it and on the other side if (01:49:25) you scan that you can watch the person (01:49:28) who came after who answered it 51 (01:49:31) questions split across three different (01:49:33) levels the warm-up level the openup (01:49:35) level and the Deep level so you decide (01:49:37) how deep the conversation goes and (01:49:39) people play these conversation cards in (01:49:41) boardrooms at work in bedrooms alone at (01:49:43) night and on first dates and everywhere (01:49:46) in between I'll put a link to the (01:49:48) conversation cards in the description (01:49:49) below and you can get yours at the
