What if everything you've ever been
(00:00:02)
taught about the book of Hebrews was
(00:00:04)
wrong? What if the phrase the old
(00:00:06)
covenant is growing old and ready to
(00:00:07)
vanish away never meant what we've been
(00:00:10)
told, but was actually a first century
(00:00:12)
Jewish idiom that the reader immediately
(00:00:15)
understood? And what if recovering that
(00:00:17)
one single detail changes how the entire
(00:00:20)
book is read? Get ready, my friends, for
(00:00:22)
a warp speed walk through the entire
(00:00:24)
book of Hebrews in less time that it
(00:00:26)
takes to watch a single episode on
(00:00:28)
Netflix right after this.
(00:00:37)
Hello everyone and welcome to this
(00:00:39)
week's broadcast. I'm Jim Staley with
(00:00:41)
Passion for Truth Ministries. Excited to
(00:00:43)
go over the entire book of Hebrews with
(00:00:45)
you from the original Hebraic Jewish
(00:00:48)
perspective. It was written in highlevel
(00:00:50)
going through each chapter pointing out
(00:00:52)
the most important gold nuggets that you
(00:00:55)
need to know. So this is going to be an
(00:00:56)
overview of the entire book of Hebrews
(00:00:59)
from the original author's perspective,
(00:01:01)
the Jewish perspective, the Hebrew
(00:01:03)
perspective. If you like a deep dive, if
(00:01:05)
you are in a a student of the word and
(00:01:08)
you really truly want to understand
(00:01:10)
Hebrews in all of its context, I
(00:01:12)
encourage you to go to the playlist of
(00:01:14)
the book of Hebrews. It is a commentary
(00:01:16)
verse by verse. You won't regret it.
(00:01:19)
Some of the chapters and episodes uh are
(00:01:23)
just phenomenally rich uh in first
(00:01:26)
century Hebraic culture and idioms and
(00:01:29)
the amount of things that the Holy
(00:01:30)
Spirit brought to us through those
(00:01:32)
broadcasts, I believe will be a blessing
(00:01:34)
for you. I know it was for hundreds of
(00:01:36)
thousands of other people. Encourage you
(00:01:38)
to check that out. For now, if you are
(00:01:42)
looking for content such as this to
(00:01:44)
learn the Bible from the original
(00:01:45)
perspective that it was written in and
(00:01:47)
not the 21st century western Greco Roman
(00:01:50)
perspective that our modern-day
(00:01:52)
Christian denominations are rooted in,
(00:01:54)
then hit that subscribe button and turn
(00:01:56)
on the notification bell. This is your
(00:01:58)
channel. This is what we do. We love to
(00:02:01)
minister to you in this way and serve
(00:02:03)
you the truth, the whole truth, and
(00:02:05)
nothing but the truth. We don't have it
(00:02:07)
all figured out here, my friends, but we
(00:02:09)
absolutely know the one that does. And
(00:02:12)
what makes us and separates us different
(00:02:14)
from most of the rest of the crowds that
(00:02:15)
are out there is we definitely take the
(00:02:18)
time to dive into first century academic
(00:02:21)
uh biblical culture. And we look into
(00:02:24)
extra biblical writings such as Josephus
(00:02:26)
and Pho and the Dead Sea Scrolls for
(00:02:29)
validation or extra information that
(00:02:31)
allows us to understand the scriptures
(00:02:33)
even better. So that's what we do and
(00:02:35)
we're going to start out right now. So
(00:02:37)
let's do the overview chapter by
(00:02:39)
chapter, shall we? Here we go. All
(00:02:41)
right. So first of all, the book of
(00:02:43)
Hebrews has been uh unfairly
(00:02:47)
cast as the book that separates the old
(00:02:50)
covenant from the new covenant. And such
(00:02:52)
verses, I'm not going to lie, as the
(00:02:54)
verse that says that the old covenant is
(00:02:57)
waxing away and behold, here comes the
(00:02:59)
new covenant doesn't help. And so if we
(00:03:03)
don't understand what the author means
(00:03:04)
by the word covenant, period and
(00:03:06)
understanding what his entire point is,
(00:03:09)
we're literally just going to read into
(00:03:10)
that what we already believe. What do we
(00:03:12)
already believe? Our modern-day
(00:03:14)
Christian framework believes that God's
(00:03:18)
law is done away with. It believes that
(00:03:20)
there's no purpose to the Torah. The law
(00:03:22)
was for the old covenant. We're under
(00:03:24)
the new covenant. We don't have to keep
(00:03:26)
the law of the old covenant. This is the
(00:03:28)
prevailing theological construct of the
(00:03:31)
modern-day Christian church. And when
(00:03:33)
you put on those glasses, you're going
(00:03:35)
to read verses out of Hebrews 8:9. And
(00:03:39)
you are going to read right into them
(00:03:41)
what you already believe rather than
(00:03:44)
extracting, meaning executing the
(00:03:46)
scriptures properly and knowing what the
(00:03:48)
author actually intended. And so that's
(00:03:51)
what we're going to be doing. The book
(00:03:53)
of Hebrews as a whole is not about the
(00:03:55)
law being abolished or the old covenant
(00:03:57)
being discarded so the new covenant
(00:03:59)
could replace it. May it never be as
(00:04:02)
Paul would say. The author is educating
(00:04:05)
Jewish believers. Now this is important
(00:04:07)
particularly those in Rome whose entire
(00:04:09)
religious life revolve around the temple
(00:04:11)
and the Torah. Their entire being was
(00:04:15)
connected to this concept of the temple
(00:04:17)
that existed for so long. There had
(00:04:19)
never been a change in administration.
(00:04:22)
It had always been the Levites and
(00:04:25)
everything was business as usual every
(00:04:27)
day with the sacrifices and on Yamapour
(00:04:29)
once a year the high priest would go
(00:04:31)
into the holy of holies sacrifice for
(00:04:33)
his sins and then for the all the sins
(00:04:35)
of Israel. This was a staple
(00:04:38)
understanding in first century Judaism
(00:04:40)
and in Messianic uh Judaism as many Jews
(00:04:43)
were getting saved early on. But there
(00:04:46)
was a new authority that was coming into
(00:04:48)
place. This Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah
(00:04:51)
was was this they were un trying to
(00:04:53)
understand where he fits into the Jewish
(00:04:56)
life or into the pages of scripture even
(00:04:59)
in the prophets. What does it look like
(00:05:01)
now that Christ rose from the dead? What
(00:05:03)
what how does that affect modern-day
(00:05:06)
temple worship? Uh in Jewish culture,
(00:05:09)
this was what was going on. But now
(00:05:12)
there is a high priest from heaven in
(00:05:15)
the order of MelkiseDC, one with no
(00:05:17)
beginning, no end, who permanently
(00:05:19)
administrates and ministers the law
(00:05:22)
through grace. This was a totally
(00:05:24)
unheard of uh theology in the first
(00:05:27)
century. And this is why the book of
(00:05:29)
Hebrews was written. If you don't
(00:05:30)
remember anything else, this is the
(00:05:33)
entire point of the book of Hebrews is
(00:05:35)
to talk to these Jewish believers who
(00:05:37)
are completely non-understanding of any
(00:05:40)
other possible priesthood outside of
(00:05:42)
what Moses was given on the mountain of
(00:05:44)
the Levitical priesthood and teach them
(00:05:46)
the power of the Mkisedc priesthood and
(00:05:49)
how it is the actual priesthood from
(00:05:51)
heaven. So that's what we're going to do
(00:05:53)
and we're going to go chapter by
(00:05:54)
chapter. Here we go. All right, let's go
(00:05:56)
to chapter one here in verse two and
(00:05:59)
three. We're going to spend a little bit
(00:06:00)
of time on this. He says, "He has in
(00:06:02)
these last days spoken to us by his son,
(00:06:05)
whom he appointed heir of all things,
(00:06:07)
through whom also he made the world, who
(00:06:10)
being the brightness of his glory in the
(00:06:11)
express image of his person, and
(00:06:13)
upholding all things by the word of his
(00:06:15)
power, when he had by himself purged our
(00:06:18)
sins, sat down at the right hand of the
(00:06:20)
majesty on high." This is an amazing
(00:06:23)
chapter because the author starts off
(00:06:25)
the entire chapter letting them know
(00:06:29)
this is not a man. This is not just an
(00:06:31)
angel. This is God himself in the flesh.
(00:06:35)
He's letting them know that this was
(00:06:37)
before all time. That the brightness of
(00:06:39)
the glory of God, which God says he
(00:06:41)
shares with no one, but yet he shares it
(00:06:43)
with his son, is that look, if you're a
(00:06:45)
son of man, you're human. If you are a
(00:06:48)
son of God, you're you are deity. And so
(00:06:50)
I want to go over to uh Philippians
(00:06:52)
chapter 2 10-11 and then also Isaiah
(00:06:55)
45:23. And I want to show you something.
(00:06:58)
We're not going to spend a whole lot of
(00:06:59)
time on this because I go through it
(00:07:00)
extensively uh in the verse by verse
(00:07:02)
breakdown. But take a look at this. When
(00:07:04)
we get to Philippians 2, it says that at
(00:07:06)
the name of Yeshua, Jesus, every knee
(00:07:09)
will bow of those in heaven and those on
(00:07:11)
earth and of those under the earth that
(00:07:13)
every tongue should confess that Jesus
(00:07:15)
Christ is Lord to the glory of God the
(00:07:16)
Father. Now, that's an extraordinary
(00:07:18)
verse that every Christian knows that
(00:07:19)
when the Messiah comes, everyone is
(00:07:21)
going to fall on their face. Whether
(00:07:22)
they like it or not, they're going to
(00:07:23)
come claim that Yeshua is Lord. There's
(00:07:26)
only one problem with that. If you don't
(00:07:28)
believe that Yeshua is deity, then we
(00:07:31)
have a massive contradiction on our
(00:07:33)
hands and a larger problem in that
(00:07:36)
because Isaiah 45:23 is the source
(00:07:38)
material for that quote from
(00:07:40)
Philippians. It says this, "I have sworn
(00:07:43)
by myself." Now God is talking. The word
(00:07:45)
has gone out of my mouth in
(00:07:47)
righteousness and shall not return that
(00:07:50)
to me every knee shall bow and every
(00:07:53)
tongue will take an oath will confess.
(00:07:56)
So that's a problem because either every
(00:07:58)
knee is going to be bowing to God or
(00:07:59)
every knee is going to be bowing to
(00:08:01)
Yeshua his son. What's fascinating is
(00:08:03)
the answer is right there in Isaiah. It
(00:08:05)
says the word has gone out of his mouth.
(00:08:07)
And what is Yeshua? He is the word made
(00:08:10)
flesh. They're combined. We don't have
(00:08:13)
to understand it, but they're definitely
(00:08:15)
connected. And the author of Hebrews,
(00:08:16)
now this is not a treaties in and of
(00:08:18)
itself to prove that Yeshua is God. Uh I
(00:08:21)
do that very extensively in a teaching
(00:08:23)
called a trinity on trial. You can check
(00:08:25)
that out on our website or on our
(00:08:27)
YouTube channel. But it's important to
(00:08:29)
know that the author of Hebrews starts
(00:08:31)
off by saying this is significant. Uh
(00:08:35)
this high priest is not human. He's not
(00:08:37)
angelic. This is special. He's before
(00:08:41)
the beginning of time. John 1:13 says
(00:08:43)
this, I've quoted a couple times. In the
(00:08:45)
beginning was the word. The word was
(00:08:46)
with God. The word was God. The word was
(00:08:48)
with God. In the beginning, through him
(00:08:50)
all things were made. Without him
(00:08:51)
nothing was made that has been made.
(00:08:53)
Nothing. The entire universe was made by
(00:08:56)
the word which eventually becomes
(00:08:59)
Yeshua. This clearly distinguishes the
(00:09:01)
word Yeshua from created things. If
(00:09:03)
nothing was made without him, he cannot
(00:09:05)
be a created being. That simple. And
(00:09:07)
John 17:5 says, "And now, Father,
(00:09:09)
glorify me in your presence with the
(00:09:10)
glory that I had with you before the
(00:09:12)
world existed." Again, it's a problem
(00:09:15)
because you can't have God saying, "I
(00:09:17)
don't share my glory." And then saying
(00:09:19)
Yeshua saying, "Share your glory with me
(00:09:22)
of the glory that I had before I was
(00:09:23)
even here." Uh Hebrews 1, 2, and 3
(00:09:27)
again, uh it says, "Through whom he
(00:09:29)
created the world, sustaining all things
(00:09:32)
by his powerful word." That's Yeshua.
(00:09:35)
You Lord laid the foundation of the
(00:09:36)
earth in the beginning and the heavens
(00:09:38)
are the work of your hands. This is
(00:09:40)
right out of Micah chapter 5:2. It says,
(00:09:42)
"But you Bethlehem Ephrada from you
(00:09:44)
shall come forth for me one who is to be
(00:09:47)
ruler in Israel whose goings forth are
(00:09:49)
from old from everlasting." In other
(00:09:51)
words, the roots of Yeshua before he
(00:09:54)
came to earth were from eternity. That's
(00:09:58)
what the prophet Micah is saying. And
(00:10:00)
this is the slide that I showed you guys
(00:10:04)
uh on the actual chapter 1 I believe in
(00:10:08)
Hebrews. But this kind of gives you an
(00:10:09)
idea. If you look at the human brain,
(00:10:11)
there's really three components to it.
(00:10:13)
And I equate it. The left side is
(00:10:14)
analytical. The right side is is the
(00:10:17)
mercy, it's the compassion, it's the
(00:10:19)
empathy side. And then you have the
(00:10:20)
brain stem that connects the two. And
(00:10:22)
that's the Holy Spirit. So you have the
(00:10:23)
father who's the creator lawgiver. He's
(00:10:26)
sovereign. You have Yeshua, the
(00:10:27)
redeemer, the revealer. He's the
(00:10:29)
relationship builder, the gracegiver,
(00:10:32)
and then you have the Holy Spirit, which
(00:10:33)
is the connector between the two. All
(00:10:36)
three of those make up the brain. You
(00:10:37)
cannot take one and say, "Oh, this is
(00:10:40)
the brain, but this isn't the brain."
(00:10:42)
No, we are all three of these are
(00:10:44)
represented perfectly in scripture. And
(00:10:46)
again, you can watch Trinity on Trial if
(00:10:48)
you'd like more information on that. All
(00:10:50)
right, so let's move on to chapter two.
(00:10:51)
Chapter 2 is all about warning the
(00:10:53)
assembly to hold true to their faith in
(00:10:55)
Christ and remember the foundation of
(00:10:57)
where their salvation comes from. Let's
(00:10:59)
take a look at a couple verses here uh
(00:11:01)
that will prove that to be true. All
(00:11:02)
right. So, Hebrews 2:12 says, "I will
(00:11:05)
declare your name to my brethren in the
(00:11:07)
midst of the assembly. I will sing
(00:11:08)
praise to you." Now, one of the false
(00:11:11)
narratives that traditional Christian um
(00:11:14)
understanding of Hebrews is is that
(00:11:15)
there's a difference between the church,
(00:11:17)
the Christian church and uh the Jewish
(00:11:20)
people or Israel. But the Bible does not
(00:11:24)
separate the two at all. As a matter of
(00:11:26)
fact, if we go over to Ephesians 2 12
(00:11:29)
and 13, it makes it very clear that at
(00:11:31)
that time, talking to the Gentiles, you
(00:11:33)
who were without Christ, you were aliens
(00:11:36)
from the commonwealth of Israel and
(00:11:38)
strangers from the covenants of promise,
(00:11:40)
having no hope and without God in the
(00:11:42)
world. But now in Christ Jesus, he's
(00:11:44)
about to contrast now being uh aliens
(00:11:47)
from the commonwealth. Uh but now in
(00:11:50)
Christ Jesus, you who are once far off
(00:11:52)
from being part of the commonwealth of
(00:11:55)
Israel are brought near to the
(00:11:57)
commonwealth of Israel by the blood of
(00:11:59)
Christ. Now therefore, you are no longer
(00:12:01)
strangers and foreigners, but fellow
(00:12:03)
citizens of the commonwealth of Israel
(00:12:06)
with the saints and members of the
(00:12:07)
household of God. Now, this is really,
(00:12:09)
really important because this is founded
(00:12:11)
all upon the new covenant scripture out
(00:12:13)
of Jeremiah 31:31 when it talks about
(00:12:15)
bringing a new covenant to the house of
(00:12:17)
Israel and the house of Judah. And I
(00:12:19)
hate to tell you, there is no house of
(00:12:20)
gentile. It just doesn't exist. So, it
(00:12:24)
the house of Israel and the house of
(00:12:26)
Judah are the only ones that can be part
(00:12:29)
of the new covenant. And this is a
(00:12:31)
bomb-dropper for most of Christian
(00:12:33)
theologians who have never even saw the
(00:12:35)
elephant that's standing right in front
(00:12:37)
of them in the living room is you cannot
(00:12:39)
be a gentile and be part of the covenant
(00:12:43)
of God. You can't uh a there is no Jew.
(00:12:46)
There's no Gentile. It's just those that
(00:12:49)
are part of Israel. You have to be a
(00:12:52)
covenant commonwealth of Israel uh
(00:12:54)
believer. That's it. Uh that's what
(00:12:56)
Jeremiah 31:31 says. And the whole
(00:12:58)
fundamental foundation of Jeremiah 31 is
(00:13:01)
that he's going to take this new
(00:13:02)
covenant. And the definition of it is or
(00:13:04)
the purpose of it is he's going to write
(00:13:06)
the Torah, the very Torah that most of
(00:13:08)
Christianity says doesn't exist. He's
(00:13:10)
going to write that on your heart. You
(00:13:12)
can't write something on your heart
(00:13:13)
that's done away with. That wouldn't
(00:13:15)
make any sense. So, we've really really
(00:13:17)
misunderstood uh this whole topic and
(00:13:20)
it's mainly because we've misunderstood
(00:13:21)
Hebrews. And that's what we're going to
(00:13:23)
try to do. So, the church is simply just
(00:13:25)
the assembly. There was no word called
(00:13:28)
church. It was eklesia, the assembly.
(00:13:30)
And the assembly of God in the Old
(00:13:32)
Testament is the same as the assembly of
(00:13:34)
God in the New Testament. It has always
(00:13:36)
been by faith through grace. The Torah
(00:13:39)
is just the way to live life. That's it.
(00:13:42)
It's blessings and curses. It's just
(00:13:44)
God's way of saying, "Hey, this is how
(00:13:46)
you please me. This is how you have
(00:13:47)
great relationships." The administrators
(00:13:49)
are just simply going to change from the
(00:13:50)
Levites to the MelkiseDC. And we'll talk
(00:13:52)
about that coming up here soon. All
(00:13:54)
right. Now moving to chapter 3. It's not
(00:13:57)
Moses versus Christ. Let's take a look
(00:13:58)
at it. Hebrews 3-6 says, "For this one
(00:14:01)
has been counted worthy of more glory
(00:14:02)
than Moses, in as much he who's built
(00:14:04)
the house has more honor than the house.
(00:14:06)
For every house is built by someone, but
(00:14:08)
he who built all things as God. And
(00:14:10)
Moses indeed was faithful in all his
(00:14:13)
house as a servant, for a testimony of
(00:14:15)
those things which would be spoken
(00:14:16)
afterwards. But Christ as a son over his
(00:14:19)
own house whose house we are if we hold
(00:14:22)
fast the confidence and the rejoicing of
(00:14:24)
the hope from the end. Now this has been
(00:14:27)
radically misunderstood to say that uh
(00:14:29)
this proves the law of Moses is done
(00:14:31)
away with and now the law of Christ is
(00:14:32)
supreme. But the context compares the
(00:14:35)
roles of Moses and Yeshua not to abolish
(00:14:38)
what Moses taught but to highlight the
(00:14:41)
authority of the Messiah as the final
(00:14:43)
high priest and son over the household
(00:14:45)
of God. Moses is over the household of
(00:14:48)
God. And Yeshua is because he is
(00:14:50)
literally heir to the throne. He is the
(00:14:52)
son of God. He's the faithful son, heir
(00:14:55)
over the whole house. It's not replacing
(00:14:58)
the house. It's not replacing the rules
(00:15:00)
of the house. It's replacing the one
(00:15:01)
who's ruler over it. Both are faithful.
(00:15:04)
One is a servant in the house. The other
(00:15:07)
is a son over it. Both are integral to
(00:15:10)
the same house. Galatians 3:24 and 25 is
(00:15:12)
similar to this talking about the tutor,
(00:15:14)
right? that as long as the the the the
(00:15:16)
the parents are gone, the father's gone,
(00:15:18)
the tutor is in charge. But when the
(00:15:20)
father comes home, the tutor is no
(00:15:21)
longer needed. Right? Very true. The
(00:15:24)
tutor cannot discipline the children
(00:15:26)
when the father comes home. But it
(00:15:27)
doesn't mean that everything that the
(00:15:28)
tutor taught them or the rules of the
(00:15:31)
house are gone. There's no new rules
(00:15:33)
when the father comes home. It's just he
(00:15:35)
is the one that offers and can
(00:15:37)
administrate discipline. This is where
(00:15:39)
grace and mercy come in. The Torah
(00:15:41)
cannot operate under grace and mercy. it
(00:15:43)
it's just like uh the codified law in
(00:15:45)
the United States or any country. The
(00:15:47)
laws are the laws. It just doesn't
(00:15:48)
matter. You can't go up to a stop sign
(00:15:50)
and change it. You can't go up to a
(00:15:52)
speed limit sign and change the number
(00:15:54)
on the sign. It is what it is. Uh the
(00:15:57)
law doesn't change. But Christ can
(00:16:00)
absolutely give grace when one breaks
(00:16:02)
it. And that's the point of the book of
(00:16:04)
Hebrews. All right, let's move to
(00:16:06)
chapter 4 where it is he establishes the
(00:16:09)
Shabbat, the Sabbath. You can read uh
(00:16:12)
chapter 4 verse 1-9 and you'll see over
(00:16:14)
and over again he's using the Sabbath to
(00:16:17)
talk about that there is a Sabbath rest
(00:16:19)
that remains for the people of God. Now
(00:16:21)
why is he even talking about the Sabbath
(00:16:23)
if the Sabbath is done away with? Now
(00:16:26)
this is likely close to 30 years after
(00:16:28)
the death of Christ. So if the Shabbat
(00:16:30)
was done away with and it had all been
(00:16:32)
switched to Sunday, which the Catholic
(00:16:34)
Church hasn't been in existence yet at
(00:16:36)
this time, so that couldn't have
(00:16:37)
happened because the Sabbath was changed
(00:16:40)
from Saturday, the 7th day, to the first
(00:16:42)
day of the week in 321 AD by a Roman
(00:16:44)
edict. But that's for another day. But
(00:16:47)
for now, this is about 30 years after
(00:16:49)
Christ's resurrection. And there is no
(00:16:51)
signs that the Sabbath is done away
(00:16:53)
with. As a matter of fact, it's so
(00:16:55)
integrated into first century uh
(00:16:58)
Christianity that he uses it as an
(00:17:00)
example because everybody's familiar
(00:17:02)
with it. And that's why he uses uh this
(00:17:05)
word uh the Sabbath. Now, there's two
(00:17:07)
Greek words that are used in this
(00:17:09)
chapter, which is fascinating. It's
(00:17:11)
cataposis, which is the general rest.
(00:17:13)
Okay? So, when he talks about Sabbath,
(00:17:16)
Sabbath, Sabbath all the way to verse 9,
(00:17:19)
it's all cataposis. general rest that
(00:17:22)
you can do in any time of week. But when
(00:17:25)
you get to verse 9, he changes
(00:17:27)
everything. He uses sabatismos, which is
(00:17:30)
the actual Greek word for Sabbath rest,
(00:17:34)
the seventh day Sabbath. And that's why
(00:17:36)
he says that therefore there remains a
(00:17:39)
Sabbath rest for the people of God. He's
(00:17:42)
making the connection that there is a
(00:17:44)
Sabbath in Yeshua, but the weekly
(00:17:47)
Sabbath is the microcosm of that. When
(00:17:50)
we celebrate Shabbat from Friday night
(00:17:52)
to Saturday night, which is a worldwide
(00:17:55)
uh revival right now that's happening
(00:17:57)
within Christianity, Christians
(00:17:59)
everywhere, even in the wake of Charlie
(00:18:01)
Kirk wrote a whole book on on stop in
(00:18:04)
the name of God, on how the Sabbath
(00:18:05)
changed and revolutionized his entire
(00:18:07)
family's life, and he encourages
(00:18:08)
everybody to do it. Why? It's such a
(00:18:10)
great idea. Because God said so. That's
(00:18:13)
why before man even sinned, uh we were
(00:18:15)
commanded to keep the Sabbath on the
(00:18:17)
seventh day. Not out of legalism. It's a
(00:18:20)
way for us to connect with God and
(00:18:21)
remember that when the when the seventh
(00:18:23)
millennium comes, that is going to be
(00:18:25)
the eternal rest of God's people on that
(00:18:27)
seventh day, prophetic day, if you will.
(00:18:30)
And the weekly Sabbath is the weekly
(00:18:32)
reset. It's the reminder and
(00:18:34)
recalibration of that. And that's why he
(00:18:36)
says it still remains. The Sabbath isn't
(00:18:39)
abolished. Sabbath without Messiah is
(00:18:42)
simply ritual. Messiah without Sabbath
(00:18:45)
is incomplete rest. I love how Joshua
(00:18:48)
Caleb uh looks at it. Their faith
(00:18:51)
entered the rest. Disbelief empowers
(00:18:55)
giants. Did you know that faith allows
(00:18:58)
you to enter into rest? Disbelief
(00:19:02)
empowers giants. Never forget that. All
(00:19:05)
right, let's move along to chapter five.
(00:19:07)
It is all about the eternality of
(00:19:10)
Yeshua, the new high priest. Even the
(00:19:12)
Kuman community knew that MelkiseDC was
(00:19:15)
God in the flesh. Now, this is a crazy
(00:19:17)
thought. I know there's people
(00:19:18)
listening, there's broadcasts that don't
(00:19:19)
believe that Yeshua uh is part of a
(00:19:23)
deity, and I'm not going to pretend that
(00:19:24)
I understand all of it at all. How can I
(00:19:27)
understand something that's eternal with
(00:19:28)
my 2% of my brain that I use uh and
(00:19:31)
sometimes less than that at times, but
(00:19:34)
the Essenes in Kuman, from which we get
(00:19:36)
the the Dead Sea Scrolls, they had a
(00:19:39)
concept that Mkisedc was God in the
(00:19:41)
flesh. And that's where the author is
(00:19:43)
going to get it from. It says this in uh
(00:19:45)
11Q Malchisedc. Okay, in column 2 inside
(00:19:49)
the the Dead Sea Scrolls, it says in its
(00:19:51)
interpretation, Elohim here is
(00:19:53)
Malchisedc who will avenge the vengeance
(00:19:56)
of the judgments of God and he will drag
(00:19:59)
them from the hand of Balile, Satan, and
(00:20:01)
from the hand of all the spirits of his
(00:20:03)
lot. And all the gods of justice will
(00:20:05)
come to his aid to attend to the
(00:20:07)
destruction of Balile. And the height is
(00:20:10)
all the sons of light. This is the day
(00:20:12)
of peace. Shalom. Concerning which he
(00:20:14)
said through the prophet Isaiah who
(00:20:16)
said, "How beautiful upon the mountains
(00:20:18)
are the feet of the me messenger who
(00:20:20)
proclaims peace, who brings good news,
(00:20:22)
who proclaims salvation, who says to
(00:20:24)
Zion, your God reigns." Ladies and
(00:20:26)
gentlemen, go back and you can look in
(00:20:28)
chapter 5 when I do that whole uh
(00:20:29)
program on chapter 5 and you can see the
(00:20:32)
rest of these quotes. But this is
(00:20:33)
significant because this is telling us
(00:20:35)
that a Jewish sect in the first century
(00:20:38)
took this scripture out of Isaiah 52
(00:20:40)
which is clearly a messianic uh uh
(00:20:42)
prophecy attaches it to Mkisedc and then
(00:20:45)
calls Melkisedc Elohim which is one of
(00:20:48)
the names of God
(00:20:50)
and then the author of Hebrews says that
(00:20:52)
Mkisedc is the one who's going to be the
(00:20:54)
high priest. That's pretty incredible
(00:20:57)
and a powerful example of how MelkiseDC
(00:21:01)
supersedes all priesthood. All right,
(00:21:04)
moving to chapter six. Now, we're almost
(00:21:05)
halfway done. Let's take a look at verse
(00:21:08)
1 through3. There's something to take a
(00:21:10)
look at here and uh and uncover. So,
(00:21:13)
let's go. Verse one. Therefore, leaving
(00:21:15)
the discussion of the elementary
(00:21:16)
principles of Christ, let us go on to
(00:21:18)
perfection, not laying again the
(00:21:20)
foundations of repentance from dead
(00:21:21)
works, and of faith toward God, and of
(00:21:24)
doctrine, of baptisms, baptisms, plural,
(00:21:27)
that's interesting, of laying on of
(00:21:29)
hands, of resurrection of the dead, and
(00:21:30)
of eternal judgment. And this we will do
(00:21:32)
if God permits. This is fascinating
(00:21:35)
because uh when you look at the doctrine
(00:21:36)
of baptisms in first century
(00:21:38)
Christianity, it wasn't anything like it
(00:21:40)
is today where there's just a baptism
(00:21:42)
for getting saved. They had what was
(00:21:44)
called a mikvah or a ritual immersion
(00:21:46)
bath and all the Christians used it. It
(00:21:48)
was it was fully uh understood all the
(00:21:51)
different types of clean and unclean and
(00:21:54)
the spiritual uncleanness that happens
(00:21:56)
in our lives. This entire chapter six is
(00:21:59)
about enduring till the end and not
(00:22:02)
allowing culture to pull you out of
(00:22:04)
covenant from following Messiah which
(00:22:06)
causes us to be unclean. Let's move on
(00:22:08)
to chapter 7 here and uh see what we've
(00:22:11)
got. Now, when you get to chapter 7,
(00:22:14)
there's a little bit of a switch.
(00:22:15)
Chapter 7 establishes
(00:22:18)
uh with the Torah that Melkisedc is
(00:22:20)
higher than Abraham. So, again, we're
(00:22:22)
beginning the process of separating Levi
(00:22:26)
from Mkisedc and continually showing the
(00:22:31)
superiority of the Misedc priesthood.
(00:22:34)
The author is trying to remind his
(00:22:35)
audience that look, the entire Torah,
(00:22:38)
all of the temple, the entire priesthood
(00:22:40)
of Levi is patterned after a temple in
(00:22:43)
heaven. Don't forget the temple in
(00:22:45)
heaven just because you can't see it.
(00:22:47)
There is a whole another priesthood and
(00:22:49)
it comes from MelkiseDC who is the son
(00:22:51)
of God that is leading that whole charge
(00:22:54)
up there and is going to now bring that
(00:22:57)
uh that whole entire umbrella and fuse
(00:23:00)
it over the top of Levi on earth. Okay,
(00:23:03)
the heaven and the earth realms are
(00:23:06)
going to merge. All right, so it
(00:23:08)
explains in chapter 7 how Abraham paid
(00:23:11)
tithe to MelkiseDC out of Genesis. Uh-c
(00:23:14)
and because Levi was not born yet and
(00:23:16)
still in the loins of Abraham, that
(00:23:18)
means by default Levi was paying tithe
(00:23:20)
to Melkisedc and that proves that
(00:23:22)
Mkisedc priesthood was greater. So
(00:23:25)
chapter 7 is all about that. And when
(00:23:28)
you get to verse 11, um I want to point
(00:23:30)
out something that's interesting that's
(00:23:33)
misunderstood and totally mistransated
(00:23:35)
in the English language. And that's
(00:23:37)
verse 11. It says, "Therefore, if
(00:23:38)
perfection were through the Levitical
(00:23:40)
priesthood, for under it the people
(00:23:42)
received the law, what further need was
(00:23:45)
there that another priest should be uh
(00:23:47)
should arise according to the order of
(00:23:48)
MelkiseDC and not be called according to
(00:23:51)
the order of Aaron?" Now, this is
(00:23:54)
fascinating because the word law here
(00:23:56)
doesn't exist. That is not the word in
(00:23:58)
the Greek. The word is nomatoeo which
(00:24:01)
means to instruct or teach. It does not
(00:24:04)
mean law. It is talking about the
(00:24:06)
administration of it. It's a perfect
(00:24:08)
passive verb. Right now in English it's
(00:24:12)
an it's a noun. It's not in the Greek.
(00:24:15)
It's a passive verb that literally means
(00:24:17)
to legislate or institute regulations.
(00:24:21)
It's talking about the people. And
(00:24:22)
according to Greek scholars, the word
(00:24:23)
law is not the subject intended. But the
(00:24:26)
administration of it, it should actually
(00:24:29)
read, "For on the basis of it, the
(00:24:31)
people were given their legal
(00:24:32)
administration, the Levites." The
(00:24:35)
purpose or the subject here of that
(00:24:38)
thought is the people, the Levites, not
(00:24:41)
the law itself. And why is that so
(00:24:43)
important? Because many uh a pastor or
(00:24:46)
scholar or Bible student will take their
(00:24:48)
preconceived ideas that there is the
(00:24:50)
we're no longer under the law and they
(00:24:52)
read that into this text. What he's
(00:24:54)
saying here is perfection were through
(00:24:56)
the Levitical priesthood.
(00:24:58)
You see that it doesn't say through the
(00:25:00)
law. It says priesthood for under it the
(00:25:05)
priesthood the people received the
(00:25:07)
administration.
(00:25:09)
You see how that that dramatically
(00:25:10)
changes the entire uh context of the
(00:25:13)
verse when we look at it through the
(00:25:15)
right eyes. And he goes on it says for
(00:25:16)
the priesthood being changed. The next
(00:25:19)
verse gives it away. the priesthood
(00:25:21)
being changed of necessary there also
(00:25:23)
has to be a change in the law not the
(00:25:24)
entire law the law of the priesthood
(00:25:27)
having to come only from Levi so it's
(00:25:30)
not the entire law but it's a specific
(00:25:32)
law that says the priesthood can only be
(00:25:34)
from Levi and he quotes the provision to
(00:25:37)
make this change from Psalm 1104
(00:25:41)
and that's why this is not about
(00:25:43)
changing the entire law of God this is
(00:25:45)
about doing and making a change that the
(00:25:48)
law itself allows us to make prophesied
(00:25:51)
that was going to happen. It's the
(00:25:52)
change of the priesthood. And when you
(00:25:54)
get down to verse 18 and 19, it says,
(00:25:56)
"For on one end, there is an enoling of
(00:25:57)
the former commandment, Levi, because of
(00:26:00)
its weakness and improfit because there
(00:26:03)
were fallible men. For the law made
(00:26:05)
nothing perfect. On the other hand,
(00:26:06)
there is there is the bringing in of a
(00:26:08)
better hope through which we draw near
(00:26:10)
to God." Again, the subject is people.
(00:26:13)
What's the better hope? Yeshua, Jesus,
(00:26:15)
the high priest that gave his life once
(00:26:17)
and for all. Not daily, but once and for
(00:26:20)
all. The entire focus is priesthood,
(00:26:22)
priesthood, not content, content. Okay?
(00:26:25)
He's not saying that the Torah is bad.
(00:26:27)
He's simply saying that the law itself
(00:26:29)
from which the people have become
(00:26:30)
dependent on could not make anyone
(00:26:33)
perfect or bring full restoration to the
(00:26:35)
covenant that was broken in the Garden
(00:26:37)
of Eden. It had no power to forgive,
(00:26:39)
only to bring blessing if you kept it,
(00:26:41)
and a curse if you didn't. But through
(00:26:43)
Christ and his priesthood, there was a
(00:26:45)
better hope because his blood was shed
(00:26:48)
once and for all. That's the brilliance
(00:26:50)
of of Romans chapter 7. And comparing
(00:26:53)
and showing the Mkisedc, it's to let us
(00:26:56)
know there is a change necessary. He
(00:26:59)
wants the Jewish readers and the Hebrew
(00:27:02)
Christians to migrate from the mindset
(00:27:05)
of the high priest uh in the temple that
(00:27:08)
they can see to the high priest in the
(00:27:11)
temple that they can't see. He wants
(00:27:13)
their faith to go from trusting in the
(00:27:15)
high priest on Yam Kapour to trusting in
(00:27:18)
Yeshua every day. This is the whole
(00:27:21)
point of everything that the writer of
(00:27:24)
Hebrews is trying to convey. All right,
(00:27:27)
moving on to chapter 8. It says this in
(00:27:28)
verse 7 and 8. For if the first
(00:27:30)
covenant, now this is a difficult one
(00:27:32)
until you learn what it all means. If
(00:27:35)
the first covenant had been faultless,
(00:27:36)
then no place would have been sought for
(00:27:38)
a second because finding fault with the
(00:27:42)
Torah. Nope, doesn't say that. It says
(00:27:44)
finding fault with them. And he's about
(00:27:45)
to quote Jeremiah 31 uh 31 and
(00:27:49)
following. Uh he's not finding a fault
(00:27:51)
with his own word. And the word is
(00:27:53)
flesh. The word is Yeshua himself. The
(00:27:55)
word is God. There cannot be any fault
(00:27:58)
in God's word. God's word is perfect.
(00:28:02)
The fault is with us. So a new covenant
(00:28:05)
had to be made because we and our
(00:28:08)
ancestors failed. Now let's discover and
(00:28:11)
this was a powerful chapter. Ladies and
(00:28:13)
gentlemen, I encourage you to go back
(00:28:15)
and watch the whole thing because what
(00:28:17)
I'm about to share with you, if you
(00:28:18)
haven't watched Hebrews 8 broadcast,
(00:28:21)
this is theologically a bombshell on
(00:28:24)
traditional interpretation of Hebrews is
(00:28:26)
understanding the difference between
(00:28:28)
covenant and law. People assume that the
(00:28:31)
old covenant is the law of God, but
(00:28:34)
that's not true. This is a problem
(00:28:36)
because if the covenant is obsolete,
(00:28:39)
law is now obsolete which makes sin
(00:28:42)
obsolete because 1 John 3:4 says sin is
(00:28:45)
the transgression of the law. The very
(00:28:47)
definition of sin depends on there being
(00:28:49)
a law. So if the old covenant is the law
(00:28:52)
of God and the law of God is done away
(00:28:53)
with, we've done away with the
(00:28:54)
definition of sin and therefore there's
(00:28:56)
no point for Christ to come because
(00:28:58)
Christ came to redeem us from sin. But
(00:29:00)
if there is no transgression of the law
(00:29:02)
because there's no law then there's no
(00:29:04)
sin which means we don't need Christ big
(00:29:06)
problem.
(00:29:08)
But covenant and law are different.
(00:29:11)
Covenant is a relationship structure.
(00:29:14)
It's simply the umbrella. The law is the
(00:29:17)
terms of that relationship structure. So
(00:29:20)
when you get to verse 13, which is one
(00:29:22)
of the most difficult and most
(00:29:24)
misunderstood verses in the book of
(00:29:25)
Hebrews, it says and that he says a new
(00:29:28)
covenant. He has made the first
(00:29:29)
obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete
(00:29:31)
and growing old is ready to vanish away.
(00:29:33)
Now most of Christianity has interpreted
(00:29:36)
this as the new covenant is superseding
(00:29:39)
the old covenant and the old law is done
(00:29:41)
away with. But that's not what it means.
(00:29:44)
And you see how easy it is to understand
(00:29:46)
when you know the difference between
(00:29:47)
covenant and law. He is telling the
(00:29:50)
truth. We're just misunderstanding it.
(00:29:52)
So let's read it again. And he's saying
(00:29:55)
a new administration. He has made the
(00:29:57)
first administration of Levi obsolete.
(00:30:00)
Now the Levitical priesthood is becoming
(00:30:03)
obsolete and growing old and is ready to
(00:30:05)
vanish away because they're right on the
(00:30:08)
precipice of 70 AD where the temple is
(00:30:10)
going to be destroyed. The Levitical
(00:30:12)
priesthood is no longer going to be in
(00:30:13)
operation and MelkiseDC will be in full
(00:30:16)
bloom. The examples that I give are
(00:30:18)
marriage and the Constitution of the
(00:30:20)
United States. So inside of marriage,
(00:30:22)
you have the marriage covenant itself.
(00:30:23)
People go down the aisle, they make
(00:30:25)
their vows. That is the marriage uh
(00:30:28)
vows. That is the marriage covenant. If
(00:30:31)
you get divorced, it doesn't change the
(00:30:34)
covenant laws.
(00:30:36)
When you get remarried, it's simply a
(00:30:38)
new covenant. It's a new administration.
(00:30:41)
The husband is a new administrator of
(00:30:43)
that covenant. The wife is a new
(00:30:44)
administrator of that covenant. But the
(00:30:46)
covenant is the same. It's the
(00:30:47)
administration of it that changes. And
(00:30:51)
the best example is in the United States
(00:30:53)
you have the Constitution of the United
(00:30:55)
States that is a living breathing
(00:30:57)
document but it does not change. Just
(00:31:00)
because a new administration comes it
(00:31:02)
doesn't mean that the constitution
(00:31:04)
changes. The Constitution is the same.
(00:31:06)
The laws are the same but there's a new
(00:31:08)
president, a new cabinet, a new
(00:31:10)
administration. That's called a new
(00:31:12)
covenant. It doesn't change the laws or
(00:31:16)
the constitution underneath the
(00:31:17)
covenant. Do you see the drastic change
(00:31:20)
in mindset here? When you understand new
(00:31:23)
covenant does not mean old laws are done
(00:31:26)
away with. New covenant means new
(00:31:28)
administration, new sheriff in town, new
(00:31:31)
president, there's a brand new way to
(00:31:33)
interpret the law. That is the power of
(00:31:37)
the book of Hebrews. And when he says
(00:31:40)
that there is a new covenant, this is
(00:31:43)
what he's talking about. Not a new law,
(00:31:45)
new covenant. That's why in verse 9 it
(00:31:47)
says it was symbolic for the present
(00:31:49)
time in which both gifts and sacrifices
(00:31:51)
are offered which cannot make him who
(00:31:53)
performed the service perfect in regard
(00:31:55)
to the conscious concerning only with
(00:31:57)
foods and drinks and various washings
(00:31:59)
and fleshly ordinances imposed until the
(00:32:01)
time of reformation. What's he talking
(00:32:03)
about there? He says that the entire
(00:32:04)
Levitical system was symbolic
(00:32:08)
until now where all of these ordinances,
(00:32:11)
the fleshly ordinances, meaning uh the
(00:32:13)
human ordinances, they're dealing with
(00:32:16)
human beings. But once you change to a
(00:32:19)
new covenant with a new administrator
(00:32:21)
who's not of this world, it's no longer
(00:32:22)
fleshly ordinances. We're not dealing
(00:32:24)
with human uh high priesthood anymore.
(00:32:26)
We're dealing with the supernatural, and
(00:32:28)
that's better than the natural. That's
(00:32:30)
all he's saying. And that's why when you
(00:32:32)
get to verse 13 and 14, which has also
(00:32:35)
been taken out of context, it says, "For
(00:32:37)
if the blood of bulls and goats and the
(00:32:39)
ashes of a red heer sprinkling the
(00:32:41)
unclean sanctifies for the purifying of
(00:32:43)
the flesh, how much more shall the blood
(00:32:46)
of Christ who through the eternal spirit
(00:32:49)
offered himself without spot to God
(00:32:51)
cleanse your conscience from dead works
(00:32:53)
to serve the living God." Now, this dead
(00:32:56)
works doesn't mean the Torah, doesn't
(00:32:57)
mean the the law of God. It means sin.
(00:33:00)
It's defined in Hebrews 6:1 as simply
(00:33:03)
sin. Repentance from dead works. You
(00:33:05)
don't repent from following what God
(00:33:06)
told you to do. You repent from things
(00:33:08)
that are wrong, things that bring no
(00:33:11)
life. So the whole point of chapter nine
(00:33:14)
is once the first covenant had been
(00:33:15)
broken, there had never been a final
(00:33:17)
penalty that the covenant law required
(00:33:20)
in order to bring that covenant to a
(00:33:22)
close and create an opportunity for a
(00:33:24)
new covenant relationship. Once the
(00:33:26)
death certificate had been signed by God
(00:33:29)
that when Christ died and his son chose
(00:33:31)
to pay the covenant price, the law of
(00:33:34)
the first covenant was satisfied.
(00:33:36)
Finally, it was satisfied and it allowed
(00:33:39)
for a new covenant to begin. Same law,
(00:33:42)
new leadership. You can't have a new
(00:33:45)
covenant without the old covenant being
(00:33:48)
satisfied. The old administration. You
(00:33:51)
see, you can't change presidents until
(00:33:54)
the election. The entire four years must
(00:33:57)
be complete. Then there can be an
(00:34:00)
exchange to a new administration. That's
(00:34:03)
the whole point of chapter nine. Ain't
(00:34:05)
that beautiful? All right. Now, let's
(00:34:07)
move to chapter 10. We're moving closer
(00:34:09)
to the end here. Verse 8 through 10.
(00:34:11)
Let's talk about some of the most
(00:34:12)
difficult verses here as well. Says,
(00:34:14)
"Previously saying, sacrifice, offering,
(00:34:16)
burnt offerings, offerings for sin you
(00:34:18)
did not desire, nor had any pleasure in
(00:34:21)
them, which are offered according to the
(00:34:23)
law." Talking about Moses. There are
(00:34:25)
some that misunderstand God when he
(00:34:27)
says, "I I don't care about the
(00:34:28)
sacrifices. I I never wanted that."
(00:34:30)
That's not his point. And he says this
(00:34:33)
multiple times in the Old Testament is
(00:34:35)
that he is so fed up with sacrifices and
(00:34:39)
religious check boxes being checked, but
(00:34:42)
without the heart behind it, without
(00:34:44)
pure hands, clean hands, and a pure
(00:34:46)
heart. He doesn't care. Obedience is
(00:34:49)
better than sacrifice. He says in 1st
(00:34:51)
Samuel 15:22, it says, "Has the Lord as
(00:34:54)
much delight in burnt offerings and
(00:34:56)
sacrifices as in obeying the voice of
(00:34:58)
the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than
(00:35:00)
sacrifice, and to heed is better than
(00:35:03)
the fat of rams." Look what happened to
(00:35:04)
Saul. The sacrifice was mandatory. And
(00:35:08)
this is that moment, right, where Samuel
(00:35:10)
tells Saul, "Look, you have to
(00:35:12)
sacrifice. We have to do a sacrifice,
(00:35:14)
but you got to be obedient first or the
(00:35:16)
sacrifice means nothing." God hates
(00:35:19)
sacrifices that are not connected to
(00:35:21)
obedience. He's not saying he doesn't
(00:35:24)
want them to follow his word that
(00:35:26)
included the sacrifices. Then he said,
(00:35:27)
"Behold, I have come to do your will, oh
(00:35:29)
God." He takes away the first that he
(00:35:31)
may establish the second. By that will
(00:35:34)
we have been sanctified through the
(00:35:36)
offering of the body of Jesus Christ
(00:35:37)
once and for all. The question is this,
(00:35:39)
takes away what? Because we've
(00:35:42)
interpreted this through traditional
(00:35:43)
Christianity. He took away the first
(00:35:45)
covenant. And that's exactly right. But
(00:35:48)
he didn't take away the law. That is
(00:35:50)
what's been infused isogetically into
(00:35:54)
our interpretation which is wrong
(00:35:56)
because we don't understand the
(00:35:57)
difference between covenant and law.
(00:35:59)
They're not the same. He takes away the
(00:36:02)
administration. And the very next verse
(00:36:04)
proves this in verse 11 when it says,
(00:36:06)
"And every priest stands ministering
(00:36:08)
daily and offering repeatedly the same
(00:36:10)
sacrifices which can never take away
(00:36:13)
sins. But this man Yeshua after he
(00:36:15)
offered one sacrifice for sins forever
(00:36:18)
sat down at the right hand of God. You
(00:36:20)
see how the whole thing is about people.
(00:36:22)
It's about the administration. It's
(00:36:24)
about how the Levitical priesthood could
(00:36:27)
not take away sins. But Yeshua can. He's
(00:36:30)
not talking anything about the law of
(00:36:32)
God. This entire book is focusing on the
(00:36:35)
changing of the priesthood. And you as a
(00:36:39)
believer in Christ get to be elevated
(00:36:41)
into the form and the role of priest.
(00:36:44)
This is what makes us a royal
(00:36:45)
priesthood. Amen. All right. He says, "I
(00:36:49)
will put my laws in their mind and write
(00:36:52)
it on their heart."
(00:36:54)
He's not changing the laws, ladies and
(00:36:57)
gentlemen. He's changing the location of
(00:36:59)
where they're they're they're stored
(00:37:02)
from tablets of stone and vellum to the
(00:37:06)
writing on the doorpost of your heart.
(00:37:08)
This is the power when you change
(00:37:11)
administrations. He can change the
(00:37:13)
location because it's no longer static
(00:37:15)
on earth. It's no longer human. It is no
(00:37:18)
longer of this earth. It is in our
(00:37:20)
hearts written on our temple in the Holy
(00:37:23)
of Holies. All right. Hebrews 10 ends
(00:37:25)
with a warning. My righteous one shall
(00:37:27)
live by faith. And if he shrinks back,
(00:37:29)
my soul has no pleasure in him. That
(00:37:32)
final line is the hinge, ladies and
(00:37:34)
gentlemen. The final line of Hebrews 10
(00:37:36)
forces the author to now explain what
(00:37:39)
does it actually mean to live by faith.
(00:37:42)
And this brings us to Hebrews 11, which
(00:37:44)
ended up being the most popular
(00:37:45)
broadcast of the entire year. Hundreds
(00:37:48)
of thousands of people, almost a half a
(00:37:50)
million people have watched this already
(00:37:53)
and it's made a huge impact even in my
(00:37:56)
own life. As a matter of fact, I almost
(00:37:58)
had an emotional breakdown on that
(00:38:00)
broadcast. It was so powerful to see the
(00:38:03)
definition of faith from the original
(00:38:04)
Hebraic perspective. Living by biblical
(00:38:07)
faith is legal evidence according to
(00:38:10)
scriptures. It's the courtroom proof
(00:38:12)
that God's people have always operated
(00:38:15)
under covenant faithfulness and that
(00:38:17)
living by faith is not new at all. It's
(00:38:19)
ancient. It's the original pattern. So,
(00:38:22)
let's find out what it is. Let's read
(00:38:24)
verse one out of chapter 11. The most
(00:38:26)
famous definition of faith in the Bible
(00:38:28)
says this. Now, faith is the substance
(00:38:30)
of things hoped for, the evidence of
(00:38:32)
things not seen. For by it the elders
(00:38:35)
obtained a good testimony. Faith is a
(00:38:38)
substance of things hoped for, the
(00:38:39)
evidence of things not seen. What in the
(00:38:41)
world does that mean? Well, this word
(00:38:43)
here in the Hebrew is amun, which means
(00:38:46)
to support, to hold up, to make firm.
(00:38:48)
It's where we actually get the word amen
(00:38:50)
from in English, believe it or not.
(00:38:52)
Amuna is its very first nature, the
(00:38:56)
final say. It's the final evidence. If
(00:38:59)
you have faith, you have amen, the final
(00:39:02)
firm, reliable, trustworthy, and
(00:39:04)
established truth. We see this word in
(00:39:06)
Exodus. I love this. It says in verse uh
(00:39:09)
12 of chapter 17, "And his hands were
(00:39:11)
amuna until the going down of the sun."
(00:39:13)
So you have Aaron and her holding up the
(00:39:16)
hands of Moses. And it's called his
(00:39:18)
hands were amuna. They were steady. They
(00:39:20)
were supported. They were held up. But
(00:39:23)
the Hebrew word is explicitly amuna.
(00:39:27)
Firmness, steady, reliable, faithful.
(00:39:30)
This is the foundational Hebrew concept
(00:39:31)
behind faith. It's not intellectual
(00:39:34)
belief. You can believe that there's a
(00:39:36)
God. The book of James says that's
(00:39:37)
great. The demons believe there there's
(00:39:39)
a God and they shudder, scared out of
(00:39:40)
their mind. No, it's steadfast covenant
(00:39:44)
loyalty that holds firm under pressure.
(00:39:47)
And you know, it's behavioral. It's not
(00:39:49)
merely cognitive. It's a faithfulness
(00:39:52)
expressed through obedience inside
(00:39:54)
covenant relationship. So when Hebrews
(00:39:55)
11 opens up with faith is the substance
(00:39:58)
hypoasis in the Greek of things hoped
(00:40:01)
for, it's not describing a mystical
(00:40:03)
feeling. It's describing a covenant
(00:40:05)
loyalty so concrete that it creates
(00:40:07)
evidential substance that proves it. It
(00:40:11)
understands that everything that happens
(00:40:12)
to me is to be for the glory of God. God
(00:40:15)
is good all the time. We say that,
(00:40:17)
right? God is good all the time. All the
(00:40:18)
time God is good. But we don't live that
(00:40:20)
way because when the pressure happens,
(00:40:22)
we fold. We don't have the faith that we
(00:40:25)
need that holds up under pressure
(00:40:27)
because faith is absolutely the
(00:40:30)
evidence.
(00:40:32)
It's our faithfulness. It's steadiness
(00:40:35)
under pressure. If your faith has no
(00:40:37)
obedience, it's not Hebraic or biblical
(00:40:40)
faith. Listen, if it has no action, it's
(00:40:43)
not biblical faith. If it has no
(00:40:45)
endurance, it's not priestly faith. And
(00:40:48)
if it has no evidence behind it, it's
(00:40:50)
not substantive. And finally, Yeshua is
(00:40:54)
the faithful one. Muna incarnate.
(00:40:59)
Your life is meant to reflect his. Our
(00:41:03)
life is meant to be amuna.
(00:41:06)
I trust you God. And that is the
(00:41:09)
evidence that you are in covenant. And
(00:41:12)
the rest of chapter 11 is all the people
(00:41:15)
of the Bible, all the patriarchs, all
(00:41:17)
the amazing believers who actually
(00:41:20)
demonstrated their faithfulness. not
(00:41:22)
their intellectual cognitive faith and
(00:41:25)
belief in God, but their actual covenant
(00:41:28)
loyalty.
(00:41:29)
And that brings us to chapter 12 is
(00:41:31)
running a race to win. And when he says
(00:41:34)
in verse one and two, to lay aside every
(00:41:36)
weight as Jews, they would have heard it
(00:41:38)
as tame, unclean. To have spiritual
(00:41:41)
weight is to be spiritually unclean.
(00:41:43)
Which means you're carrying something
(00:41:45)
that you shouldn't be carrying. And a
(00:41:47)
spiritual weight entangles you and must
(00:41:49)
be removed. And so what I want to do is
(00:41:51)
I want to share with you what a
(00:41:53)
spiritual weight is. But before I do, I
(00:41:55)
want you to see the beautiful tapestry
(00:41:57)
that the author is creating. He starts
(00:41:59)
off by talking about the power of Yeshua
(00:42:02)
and goes into MKISEDC and how he comes
(00:42:04)
from another realm that's eternal. He's
(00:42:07)
taking over the priesthood that our
(00:42:08)
faith needs to be in him one and forever
(00:42:11)
and only. And then he takes us to the
(00:42:14)
process of what real faithfulness to the
(00:42:16)
covenant looks like. And then he says,
(00:42:18)
"By the way, when you're trying to do
(00:42:19)
this, you're probably going to have some
(00:42:21)
things attached to you that's not God,
(00:42:23)
not of God. It's unclean. And what does
(00:42:25)
that look like? What is that spiritual
(00:42:27)
weight? How do we get rid of it?" Well,
(00:42:28)
something that is heavy is oppressive.
(00:42:31)
And I'm telling you right now, these are
(00:42:34)
the things that we're carrying that we
(00:42:36)
don't need to have in our lives that we
(00:42:38)
can never run to our full potential with
(00:42:40)
it. Rejection, bitterness, resentment,
(00:42:43)
anger, rage, unforgiveness, accusations,
(00:42:48)
condemnation, guilt, shame, fear,
(00:42:52)
anxiety, worry, envy, jealousy,
(00:42:55)
addictions, separation, isolation. I
(00:42:58)
could go on forever. All of these are
(00:43:00)
not supposed to be on you and are
(00:43:02)
delivered by the demonic realm. They
(00:43:04)
weigh you down and prevent you from the
(00:43:06)
joy of running the race to win.
(00:43:08)
consistently. Sometimes I see comments
(00:43:11)
under these videos. Uh one person
(00:43:13)
recently said, "You need to get it
(00:43:15)
right. You need to know your truth."
(00:43:17)
Well, they happen to be wrong on their
(00:43:19)
everything that they were saying uh both
(00:43:21)
uh both biblically and spiritually. An
(00:43:25)
attitude like that is only arrogance. It
(00:43:28)
is pride. And it comes from the demonic
(00:43:30)
realm because God didn't give you that.
(00:43:34)
That person has some sort of hurt that
(00:43:36)
is attached to a trauma that is attached
(00:43:38)
an unclean spirit of superiority that
(00:43:40)
loves pointing out everyone else's
(00:43:42)
faults and doesn't see the log in his
(00:43:45)
own eye. I do it. You do it. We all do
(00:43:48)
it. And unfortunately, I've seen so many
(00:43:50)
people that that when they carry this
(00:43:52)
stuff long enough, it actually changes
(00:43:54)
their DNA and they can get sickness and
(00:43:56)
disease from it. Not every sickness or
(00:43:58)
disease is from an unclean spirit, but
(00:43:59)
many are. I literally seen people healed
(00:44:02)
of physical ailments when they
(00:44:04)
recognized that they they needed to to
(00:44:06)
forgive this person and unbelievably the
(00:44:09)
moment they forgive them within a few
(00:44:11)
days their illness is gone. You can't do
(00:44:15)
anything but make that connection. When
(00:44:17)
we remove the weights we become
(00:44:18)
spiritually toor clean and we can come
(00:44:21)
close. And so I have this 10 steps to
(00:44:24)
freedom. I'm not going to go over it
(00:44:26)
here but I want you to go back to
(00:44:28)
chapter 12. Watch that broadcast. I go
(00:44:30)
10 steps on how to absolutely separate
(00:44:34)
yourself. Give yourself a spiritual car
(00:44:36)
wash, if you will. Set yourself free. If
(00:44:38)
you're sick, if you have a disease, if
(00:44:41)
there's anything in your life that you
(00:44:43)
don't like that you want to change and
(00:44:44)
be more in the image of Christ, I
(00:44:46)
encourage you to go through that 10-step
(00:44:48)
uh program. It's just the very
(00:44:49)
beginning.
(00:44:51)
All right. Finally, we've run to chapter
(00:44:53)
13. It's the key closing verses that I
(00:44:56)
want to talk about. Verse 1 and two
(00:44:58)
says, "Let brotherly love continue. Do
(00:45:00)
not forget to entertain strangers, for
(00:45:02)
by so doing some have unwittingly
(00:45:04)
entertained angels unaware." And I talk
(00:45:06)
about all the angels in the in the in
(00:45:09)
the Old Testament and how they came in
(00:45:11)
the form of human flesh or some sort of
(00:45:15)
angelic being and many of them were
(00:45:17)
actually God himself. Fascinating. Go
(00:45:19)
back and watch uh chapter 13. I think
(00:45:21)
you'll enjoy that. Verse six says, "So
(00:45:24)
we may boldly say the Lord is my helper.
(00:45:26)
I will not fear." But what can man do to
(00:45:27)
me? Guys, he's saying when you're
(00:45:29)
running the race, don't fear man. What
(00:45:32)
can they do to you? They can kill the
(00:45:33)
body, but they cannot kill the soul. In
(00:45:36)
verse 13, it says, "Therefore, let us go
(00:45:38)
forth to him outside the camp, bearing
(00:45:41)
his reproach." Talking about Jesus, "For
(00:45:43)
here we have no continuing city, but we
(00:45:46)
seek the one to come." In other words,
(00:45:48)
we're being kicked out of Jerusalem.
(00:45:50)
Everybody is against us. But we go out
(00:45:52)
like he did and have the same reproach
(00:45:54)
and we will obtain the same ministry in
(00:45:58)
the kingdom to come, the city to come.
(00:46:02)
Therefore, by him, let us continually
(00:46:04)
offer the sacrifices of praise. You see
(00:46:06)
how he transfers it from the sacrifice
(00:46:08)
of animals to the sacrifice of praise.
(00:46:10)
And they did it twice a day, morning and
(00:46:12)
evening sacrifices. This is why the
(00:46:15)
author is trying to transition their
(00:46:17)
mind from temple service to temple
(00:46:19)
service with the offering of praise.
(00:46:23)
Fastest way to get out of meer high
(00:46:25)
praise.
(00:46:27)
Praise God in song. It will heal you in
(00:46:31)
every way. Do not forget to do good and
(00:46:33)
to share for with such sacrifices God is
(00:46:36)
well pleased. You see my my friends,
(00:46:39)
he's not talking about uh anything but
(00:46:41)
the administration
(00:46:43)
of the covenant of the law. The
(00:46:46)
administration has changed. So what have
(00:46:49)
we learned so far in Hebrews? The
(00:46:51)
priesthood's changed. The covenantal
(00:46:53)
administration has shifted from
(00:46:54)
Levitical to Melkisedc. Access to God
(00:46:57)
has moved locations from earthly
(00:46:59)
tabernacle to heavenly. The sacrifices
(00:47:02)
have been elevated from shadow to
(00:47:04)
substance. The worshipper must now draw
(00:47:07)
near through a better and living way.
(00:47:11)
That's Christ. And those who are
(00:47:12)
justified must live by faith by
(00:47:15)
faithfulness.
(00:47:17)
The law remains the same, but the one
(00:47:19)
who administered it is changed.
(00:47:22)
The whole book of Hebrews emphasizes
(00:47:24)
covenant faithfulness. The significance
(00:47:26)
of Yeshua and him being the
(00:47:28)
manifestation of God on earth who died
(00:47:30)
for his bride was highly emphasized. And
(00:47:33)
the power of the MelkiseDC priesthood
(00:47:34)
that's inside every believer supersedes
(00:47:37)
the Levitical priesthood and is what
(00:47:39)
makes us royal. A royal priesthood that
(00:47:42)
can boldly come before the throne of
(00:47:45)
grace. The entire book of Hebrews is a
(00:47:49)
beautiful letter reminding them,
(00:47:52)
reminding us there's no way but Yeshua.
(00:47:58)
The eastern gate has been made clear.
(00:48:01)
The shadow was there once, but the
(00:48:04)
substance is here now. It was like a
(00:48:08)
substitute government for a specific
(00:48:11)
period of time until the real government
(00:48:14)
showed up. Law is the same.
(00:48:17)
Administration's different. And I'm so
(00:48:20)
grateful for the administration of
(00:48:22)
grace. My friends, you don't need grace
(00:48:26)
if there's no law. And I'm so grateful
(00:48:29)
that there's both.
(00:48:31)
Wow. Well, we have just went through 13
(00:48:33)
chapters in one of the most difficult
(00:48:35)
books of the Bible. I pray and blessed
(00:48:37)
you. If at any point you want to learn
(00:48:38)
more about this, go back to the original
(00:48:41)
episodes and broadcast where I go
(00:48:42)
chapter by chapter, verse by verse.
(00:48:45)
There's probably over 10 hours of
(00:48:47)
content there that you can walk through.
(00:48:49)
You may be doing a Bible study in your
(00:48:51)
house. I think you'll be blessed along
(00:48:53)
the way. In the meantime, my friends,
(00:48:55)
thank you so much for sharing this
(00:48:56)
content. Hit like if you liked this.
