okay brian serrano welcome in the studio
(00:00:39)
live here passion for truth for the very
(00:00:42)
first time excited to have you on as a
(00:00:44)
guest if you are a viewer out there and
(00:00:47)
you're not familiar with brian serrano
(00:00:49)
and messiah texas you're going to be
(00:00:52)
he's not only a very close friend of our
(00:00:54)
family but he is also
(00:00:57)
one of the best
(00:00:59)
youth coaches i have ever seen he's got
(00:01:01)
a lot of experiences and he is a pastor
(00:01:04)
of a local congregation we'll be talking
(00:01:06)
about that as well
(00:01:07)
brian welcome on the show
(00:01:11)
thank you jim super excited to have the
(00:01:13)
opportunity to be on here with you and
(00:01:15)
all these other amazing guests you're
(00:01:16)
having
(00:01:18)
yeah so tell us a little bit about
(00:01:20)
yourself because we have limited time on
(00:01:22)
the program uh today for each guest but
(00:01:25)
tell us a little bit about your
(00:01:26)
testimony where you come from where are
(00:01:28)
you located uh right now and what's your
(00:01:31)
heartbeat what's all these youth and who
(00:01:34)
spends this kind of time with youth
(00:01:36)
as you get older right aren't you
(00:01:38)
supposed to be like a youth pastor at 18
(00:01:40)
and then you like you move on into a
(00:01:41)
pastor right so
(00:01:43)
either they're either they're paying you
(00:01:45)
so much money you can't get out of youth
(00:01:47)
ministry or you've been you got a gun to
(00:01:49)
your head from most people's perspective
(00:01:52)
but tell us why your love for youth
(00:01:56)
so that is the normal perspective um i
(00:01:59)
was born really weird when it came to
(00:02:01)
the idea
(00:02:02)
of children ever since i can remember
(00:02:06)
i have not been a baby guy
(00:02:09)
never was when my wife and i were
(00:02:10)
married she could not wait for me for
(00:02:13)
having babies and i was like no i can't
(00:02:16)
wait till they're teenagers she's like
(00:02:18)
why
(00:02:19)
and i said because they're young adults
(00:02:20)
you can reason you can mold you can
(00:02:22)
shape you can carry a conversation it's
(00:02:24)
always been a passion of mine to work
(00:02:26)
with teenagers one of the one of the pet
(00:02:28)
peeves i have in ministry is guys that
(00:02:31)
look at children or youth ministry as a
(00:02:34)
stepping stool
(00:02:36)
i've pastored now since
(00:02:38)
2010
(00:02:40)
but
(00:02:40)
i still have been active in youth
(00:02:42)
ministry because that's just a passion
(00:02:44)
and that's a call of mine i mean i was
(00:02:46)
born and raised in sweetwater texas
(00:02:48)
i found my sophomore year i accepted a
(00:02:52)
messiah for myself i made the decision
(00:02:54)
to confess with my mouth and believe
(00:02:56)
with my heart i went to baptist bible
(00:02:58)
college in springfield missouri and then
(00:03:00)
in about
(00:03:02)
2011
(00:03:03)
i did a weird thing and actually read
(00:03:05)
the bible
(00:03:07)
caught torah
(00:03:08)
saw the rhythms of the book as matthew
(00:03:11)
as nathan harmon so famously says
(00:03:14)
and as i saw that that was still
(00:03:16)
for today um it revolutionized my life
(00:03:20)
and my ministry i didn't need to get
(00:03:21)
resaved calling on the name of jesus was
(00:03:24)
sufficient for salvation he knew who i
(00:03:26)
was talking to
(00:03:27)
um but
(00:03:29)
when i got to that point of seeing
(00:03:32)
the torah one of the things that just
(00:03:35)
stands out in torah is the bringing up
(00:03:38)
of the next generation yeah i mean
(00:03:40)
that's one of the tenants that is huge
(00:03:43)
and so
(00:03:44)
when i got into torah i had been one of
(00:03:46)
the hottest speakers
(00:03:48)
on the baptist circuit on the youth camp
(00:03:50)
circuit and then i got into torah and i
(00:03:53)
couldn't buy my way into a pulpit
(00:03:56)
nobody wanted to hear the message now
(00:03:58)
that i was bringing in all this law
(00:04:00)
keeping stuff
(00:04:01)
and i heard about through my good friend
(00:04:04)
brandon darby that there was a camp he
(00:04:06)
was going to go work at in california of
(00:04:08)
all places no offense viewers but um as
(00:04:11)
a texan that's a that's a mission strip
(00:04:13)
is what we call it and so
(00:04:16)
we we loaded up in the van
(00:04:19)
and we went to california to messiah
(00:04:22)
west coast
(00:04:23)
while there the director was a texan
(00:04:25)
named ty porter from lubbock brandon was
(00:04:27)
the wreck director i was the counselor
(00:04:29)
of the oldest boys
(00:04:31)
we had an amazing week we're like we
(00:04:32)
should really do this and brad scott was
(00:04:35)
the speaker may he always be remembered
(00:04:37)
as a blessing to everyone and he um
(00:04:40)
he said no you guys should do this and
(00:04:42)
we're like we know and he goes no you
(00:04:44)
should do it now
(00:04:46)
and so that was late june early july and
(00:04:49)
that labor day weekend
(00:04:51)
which is a little late for summer camp
(00:04:53)
but we went ahead and did the first
(00:04:55)
messiah texas in 2015
(00:04:58)
we have done a summer and winter camp
(00:05:00)
every year since then
(00:05:02)
and last year we have now expanded and
(00:05:05)
we do
(00:05:06)
young adult retreats because no matter
(00:05:08)
who you are
(00:05:10)
messianic hebraic baptist catholic
(00:05:12)
pentecostal or in between
(00:05:14)
we are losing
(00:05:16)
the generation out of high school in
(00:05:18)
droves
(00:05:20)
if we were looking at the finances
(00:05:22)
billions are spent in youth ministry
(00:05:26)
across um presbyterians and baptists and
(00:05:29)
methodists and catholics um all
(00:05:31)
protestants and catholics and then you
(00:05:34)
get down to where it's just a few
(00:05:36)
millions
(00:05:37)
spitting young adult ministry we're just
(00:05:38)
not investing in that group
(00:05:41)
and we were seeing all these kids
(00:05:42)
graduate through messiah texas longing
(00:05:45)
for something more and so lord open that
(00:05:48)
door for us and we're doing that as well
(00:05:50)
and then this year he has blessed us to
(00:05:54)
undertake uh our first feast event and
(00:05:57)
we will be hosting texas tabernacles um
(00:06:00)
for sukkot this year we're super excited
(00:06:02)
about that and i balance all of that as
(00:06:04)
you said with pastoring hffdfw the
(00:06:07)
hebraic family fellowship
(00:06:09)
of dallas fort worth um we passed
(00:06:11)
through that every shabbat three o'clock
(00:06:13)
in arlington texas at the messianic
(00:06:15)
jewish community center is where we meet
(00:06:17)
right now
(00:06:18)
and then every sunday night in our home
(00:06:21)
we have our own local youth group and so
(00:06:23)
we have that on sunday and thursday
(00:06:25)
night we have a young adult group so we
(00:06:27)
are busy but we are blessed and wouldn't
(00:06:29)
have it any other way because we are
(00:06:31)
seeing not just
(00:06:33)
kids come and have fun
(00:06:36)
not just seeing kids come and learn a
(00:06:38)
little bit about the bible but we're
(00:06:39)
seeing students come and make decisions
(00:06:42)
to serve god for themselves
(00:06:47)
so not only are you dealing with youth
(00:06:50)
and and help me understand in the youth
(00:06:54)
area
(00:06:55)
how often are you dealing with youth is
(00:06:58)
that an everyday thing are you more
(00:07:00)
focused on camps throughout the year
(00:07:02)
what is your strategy for for reaching
(00:07:04)
the youth today
(00:07:06)
so it's twofold as far as our direct
(00:07:09)
involvement
(00:07:10)
we are trying to reach all the local dfw
(00:07:13)
youth um that we
(00:07:15)
can to have a weekly daily impact as a
(00:07:18)
traditional congregation would
(00:07:21)
we're trying to reach them which in turn
(00:07:23)
has led now we have three parents who
(00:07:25)
are now faithful to our service because
(00:07:28)
their youth were reached first
(00:07:30)
one of them not even really sabbath
(00:07:31)
keepers
(00:07:32)
and then they find out about torah and
(00:07:34)
all this because of no other reason than
(00:07:37)
someone invested in their youth and
(00:07:38)
they're coming
(00:07:39)
as far as messiah texas um the other
(00:07:42)
side of that coin
(00:07:44)
is the camps we are event based as a
(00:07:47)
ministry um our goal is to do that this
(00:07:50)
summer coming up we've got our uh youth
(00:07:53)
camp coming this summer unleashed and
(00:07:55)
that's kind of where our focus is now
(00:07:57)
last summer was unlocked and we talked
(00:07:59)
about the gifts of the spirit and
(00:08:00)
unlocking what the father has put in you
(00:08:03)
since creation uh the plans he has for
(00:08:06)
you as he says
(00:08:08)
um and this year we're pushing the
(00:08:10)
unleashing of it to go do something we
(00:08:13)
have too many uh people for years in
(00:08:17)
whatever your flavor of christianity or
(00:08:19)
believing in yeshua is
(00:08:21)
that have just sat on the sideline
(00:08:23)
gifted men and women who have not
(00:08:25)
stepped forward and walked in their
(00:08:27)
anointing and we want to see this next
(00:08:29)
generation do better they have been
(00:08:31)
gifted for a purpose
(00:08:33)
and we want to see that unleashed and as
(00:08:35)
messiah texts us we are event based but
(00:08:38)
we've noticed that our retention
(00:08:40)
and our impact has seemed to
(00:08:44)
go a little bit further because we're
(00:08:45)
the only
(00:08:47)
one of the major
(00:08:48)
hebraic youth camps that offers a winter
(00:08:50)
camp as well so they don't have to wait
(00:08:53)
an entire year to see us again or to see
(00:08:55)
each other again
(00:08:56)
we do it every june end of june and then
(00:08:58)
we come every martin luther king weekend
(00:09:00)
in january and connect that way and that
(00:09:04)
has been uh really effective and we do a
(00:09:06)
three-fold service we have the main
(00:09:08)
service for worship we then go
(00:09:10)
immediately into small groups where they
(00:09:12)
discuss
(00:09:14)
and then we have the opportunity for
(00:09:15)
one-on-one meetings throughout the week
(00:09:17)
so that way regardless of their
(00:09:20)
personality type or their comfort level
(00:09:22)
they're able to find one of those three
(00:09:24)
areas
(00:09:25)
uh where they can get what they need
(00:09:27)
you know one of the things i love about
(00:09:30)
your program you know my my kids have
(00:09:32)
been to your program my daughter sierra
(00:09:34)
is heavily involved with your ministry
(00:09:37)
it seems like any time your doors are
(00:09:39)
open she is there
(00:09:41)
and your doors are open all the time so
(00:09:44)
i think she told me the other day that i
(00:09:46)
think she's been on eight airlines uh
(00:09:49)
this this year and and half of them have
(00:09:51)
been to texas so
(00:09:53)
um if you do have you're watching this
(00:09:55)
program and you've got youth or
(00:09:57)
teenagers um i encourage you to go over
(00:09:59)
to messiah texas
(00:10:02)
let's just show you that again here
(00:10:03)
messiah texas.com
(00:10:06)
and you can see all the different events
(00:10:08)
that they've got they do have a spring
(00:10:10)
camp a summer camp a winter camp
(00:10:13)
they're camping all the time
(00:10:16)
so
(00:10:17)
mr uh mr
(00:10:19)
mr camp messiah texas over here brian
(00:10:22)
serrano and his lovely wife
(00:10:25)
are spending their time with their
(00:10:27)
amazing staff
(00:10:29)
with our kids and make it impossible for
(00:10:32)
them to see things from a different
(00:10:34)
perspective you know brian i remember
(00:10:35)
growing up you know my parents would
(00:10:37)
tell me certain things and and then my
(00:10:39)
youth pastor would tell me uh the same
(00:10:42)
things and i would come home and say man
(00:10:44)
you know uh you know youth pastor said
(00:10:46)
this and and i just it just really
(00:10:48)
impacted me and my mom would look at me
(00:10:49)
like uh you realize we've been telling
(00:10:51)
you that for months right and we're like
(00:10:53)
no you never told me that you know
(00:10:56)
so somehow
(00:10:57)
uh there is something about the
(00:10:59)
credibility of hearing
(00:11:02)
the same thing but hearing it from a
(00:11:04)
different voice
(00:11:06)
let me ask you this brian so that's why
(00:11:08)
i'm i think it's really important for
(00:11:11)
young people to hear
(00:11:13)
how to follow the creator from different
(00:11:16)
avenues and different voices
(00:11:18)
and
(00:11:19)
but another thing i want to talk about
(00:11:20)
before we leave is
(00:11:23)
i do want to talk about your
(00:11:24)
congregation but
(00:11:26)
what do you see in the area of youth
(00:11:29)
is one the
(00:11:30)
what is the culture of our youth today
(00:11:33)
what what are you seeing
(00:11:34)
and what is the main thing that parents
(00:11:37)
can do to help their kids
(00:11:40)
grow in the way
(00:11:44)
so there are two two subcultures that we
(00:11:47)
find ourselves in
(00:11:49)
um really three but everyone finds
(00:11:51)
themselves with a third the third being
(00:11:53)
just students that are completely lost
(00:11:55)
have no spiritual background whatsoever
(00:11:57)
um those from a
(00:11:59)
spiritual perspective of doing ministry
(00:12:03)
lost kids are the easiest yeah because
(00:12:06)
you reach them with the gospel you train
(00:12:09)
them right from the beginning
(00:12:11)
they soar they don't have to unlearn so
(00:12:14)
that that subset's the easiest the
(00:12:15)
second is the church group those who've
(00:12:18)
been faithful on sundays going to
(00:12:19)
wednesday night youth groups um in your
(00:12:21)
traditional protestant denominations and
(00:12:24)
then they're starting to see for
(00:12:26)
themselves sometimes before their family
(00:12:29)
the roots of our faith and they're
(00:12:31)
starting to make that connection and say
(00:12:33)
wait a minute um
(00:12:35)
what about this stuff about sabbath what
(00:12:38)
about um what are these stringy things
(00:12:41)
we're supposed to wear from the end of
(00:12:43)
our garments
(00:12:44)
what is this
(00:12:46)
and so that's a really neat uh bridge to
(00:12:48)
build to see and help them come over to
(00:12:50)
a fullness of scripture what we try to
(00:12:52)
say
(00:12:53)
is we're not taking away anything we're
(00:12:56)
not changing anything we've just been
(00:12:58)
blessed to see the full picture now
(00:13:01)
we love our brother judah but man we
(00:13:04)
pray all the time go see yeshua we love
(00:13:06)
our brother and sunday but we pray all
(00:13:07)
the time they'll see torah and we're
(00:13:09)
blessed to just live in the center of
(00:13:11)
that world in a balance and that's what
(00:13:13)
we want but then that third group
(00:13:15)
are torah students students whose
(00:13:17)
parents have taught torah and
(00:13:20)
unfortunately
(00:13:21)
the biggest issue we found and brad and
(00:13:24)
i would have this conversation all the
(00:13:25)
time
(00:13:26)
is we weren't seeing
(00:13:28)
youth born again
(00:13:30)
we weren't ever hearing that opportunity
(00:13:33)
presented to them
(00:13:34)
it was
(00:13:36)
they could tell you which fish was
(00:13:38)
kosher and which was not they could tell
(00:13:40)
you the frequency of every garment and
(00:13:42)
why you shouldn't mix them together um
(00:13:45)
they could tell you what every essential
(00:13:47)
oil on the planet does
(00:13:49)
but as far as quoting john 3 16
(00:13:53)
or telling their friend how they can go
(00:13:56)
from
(00:13:57)
being lost and of a reprobate mind to
(00:14:00)
actually coming to being a born-again
(00:14:02)
child of the most high
(00:14:05)
no clue yeah
(00:14:07)
no clue what to do that so when you said
(00:14:10)
what's the biggest key parents can do
(00:14:13)
um it comes down to one word and that's
(00:14:15)
communicate with your kids
(00:14:17)
we have a phrase
(00:14:18)
you need to
(00:14:20)
communicate not dictate if you are
(00:14:23)
dictating all the time and yes you have
(00:14:26)
the right to because as we're going
(00:14:27)
around the nation kim and i now doing
(00:14:30)
parent training
(00:14:31)
everyone's on the defense whenever you
(00:14:33)
say hey let's train in this
(00:14:35)
people just get so defensive i'm here to
(00:14:38)
tell you i have three kids four because
(00:14:40)
we brought an older uh girl in to live
(00:14:43)
with us and and provide a home
(00:14:45)
environment
(00:14:46)
i'm still learning i teach
(00:14:49)
i get paid to come nationwide and teach
(00:14:51)
they fly me to teach about parenting
(00:14:53)
that doesn't mean i know anything
(00:14:55)
everything comes from the most high i am
(00:14:57)
still in process and if we could get
(00:14:59)
over the pride and realize that
(00:15:00)
communication is the key uh the segment
(00:15:03)
you and cheryl just got done with
(00:15:05)
talking about how you have the court
(00:15:08)
system you have the appeal system you
(00:15:09)
have the ability to give your children a
(00:15:12)
voice
(00:15:14)
then they actually guess what those
(00:15:16)
times you have to put your foot down
(00:15:19)
it means something as opposed to if you
(00:15:21)
walk around with your foot down
(00:15:24)
it has no authority or impact in their
(00:15:26)
life because they're like oh
(00:15:27)
all right hitler here we go again
(00:15:29)
because that's just the way we've run
(00:15:30)
our life as opposed to if there's a
(00:15:33)
discourse and and that doesn't take away
(00:15:36)
communication does not take away from
(00:15:38)
the sovereignty of parenthood or from
(00:15:40)
the authority of parenthood yeah what it
(00:15:42)
does is it actually validates it i i
(00:15:45)
feel one of the worst lines a parent can
(00:15:47)
say and we say this everywhere we go
(00:15:49)
is because i said so yeah that's not
(00:15:52)
training a child in the way they should
(00:15:53)
go that's just another form of being a
(00:15:55)
bully
(00:15:56)
well because i have the authority and
(00:15:58)
you don't do what i say
(00:16:00)
as opposed to and sometimes we don't
(00:16:01)
know the full answer our kids ask to go
(00:16:03)
somewhere and sometimes our answer has
(00:16:05)
to be
(00:16:05)
my spirit is not at peace about you
(00:16:08)
going to this house and hanging out
(00:16:10)
so no the answer has to be no
(00:16:13)
and sometimes that's what it is but it's
(00:16:14)
at least an honest rationale
(00:16:17)
of why we came to the decision we came
(00:16:19)
to and by doing that
(00:16:21)
we have found no matter in our family or
(00:16:23)
any other family
(00:16:25)
wow the
(00:16:26)
the currency that those parents are
(00:16:28)
cashing in to their kids life
(00:16:31)
um is is so valuable it's like gold
(00:16:34)
because now their kids value them
(00:16:37)
because they feel like you know what my
(00:16:39)
parents are willing to listen
(00:16:41)
they don't just tell me everything they
(00:16:42)
teach me and sometimes when i appeal
(00:16:46)
they're actually really cool to
(00:16:48)
apologize and to see my perspective and
(00:16:51)
admit they misunderstood the most
(00:16:54)
powerful words i've ever told my
(00:16:55)
children
(00:16:56)
were i was wrong
(00:16:58)
and i'm sorry
(00:17:00)
revolutionizes our relationship because
(00:17:02)
i'm not coming from a uh from a platform
(00:17:05)
of i'm better than you and i'm perfect
(00:17:07)
it's okay i'm a flawed human too
(00:17:09)
you know what i mean i think brian
(00:17:11)
sometimes that
(00:17:12)
that kids
(00:17:13)
fall into the and it's not even falling
(00:17:16)
in the trap like it's actually real that
(00:17:18)
we as parents create such a dichotomy
(00:17:20)
between us and and the kids that we're
(00:17:23)
always right and they're always wrong
(00:17:26)
and the only time that we're really
(00:17:28)
talking to them is when they're wrong
(00:17:31)
like when we're correcting them and and
(00:17:33)
i really love the what you just said
(00:17:36)
about uh if i could say it differently
(00:17:38)
creating the culture
(00:17:40)
of we're both wrong like we're both
(00:17:43)
fallen creatures like we're both humans
(00:17:45)
like there's no none of us that deserve
(00:17:48)
to stand before the glory of god
(00:17:50)
and if we create a dialogue in a culture
(00:17:52)
that hey look we're both trying to
(00:17:54)
figure this out you've never been a kid
(00:17:56)
before i've never been a dad before
(00:17:58)
never been a mom before
(00:18:00)
and and we're both going to make
(00:18:01)
mistakes and as long as we create a
(00:18:03)
culture of forgiveness and love and
(00:18:05)
grace and mercy and compassion then hey
(00:18:08)
when when dad makes a wrong call you're
(00:18:10)
going to know that all you got to do is
(00:18:12)
appeal it and if mom makes the wrong
(00:18:14)
call you appeal it to the most high
(00:18:15)
supreme court
(00:18:17)
and and if he decides to move upon our
(00:18:19)
hearts to to to repent before you or to
(00:18:21)
change our mind and so be it if not you
(00:18:23)
just you just honor god in our wrongness
(00:18:26)
um and and i think we don't teach kids
(00:18:29)
this uh this appeal system that's in the
(00:18:32)
scriptures that uh we have the right uh
(00:18:35)
to to to be wrong and sometimes god lets
(00:18:38)
parents be wrong uh maybe just because
(00:18:41)
he and quite frankly i've been in
(00:18:43)
situations and brian i know you have two
(00:18:45)
we all have where you've had to submit
(00:18:46)
to someone's wrong choice and you knew
(00:18:49)
they were wrong and but they were your
(00:18:51)
authority right and uh and you had to
(00:18:53)
just live in that and then that breeds a
(00:18:56)
deeper
(00:18:57)
connection to the father
(00:18:59)
and man i just wish parents really
(00:19:00)
understood more about how to get your
(00:19:03)
kid to biblically connect to god through
(00:19:06)
even your wrong decisions and those
(00:19:09)
conversations i think need to happen
(00:19:10)
more and more um moving the conversation
(00:19:13)
to
(00:19:14)
um
(00:19:15)
man there's so much more i want to talk
(00:19:16)
to you about about teens
(00:19:19)
and uh and about parents but let's talk
(00:19:21)
about uh your church what's going on
(00:19:23)
there and where do you guys meet and i i
(00:19:27)
can probably pull it up here uh at least
(00:19:29)
the the map here but talk about uh your
(00:19:32)
church where you meet when you meet and
(00:19:34)
uh and and who comes what's the what's
(00:19:37)
the culture environment look like there
(00:19:40)
so we are hebraic family fellowship of
(00:19:43)
dallas fort worth or in way shorter hff
(00:19:46)
of dfw
(00:19:47)
uh we meet there in arlington you can
(00:19:49)
find us right there at hff.church
(00:19:52)
and we meet in the messianic jewish
(00:19:54)
community center
(00:19:55)
which has been a really neat blessing to
(00:19:58)
allow us to connect with some brothers
(00:20:00)
and sisters we may have never met before
(00:20:03)
and we go from three to five on shabbat
(00:20:06)
we have a two hour service we get there
(00:20:08)
you know doors are open about 2 30 we
(00:20:10)
have coffee flowing we have fellowship
(00:20:13)
we have this blessed uh
(00:20:15)
story
(00:20:17)
that we come from
(00:20:19)
hff of norman
(00:20:21)
or hffokc
(00:20:23)
there daniel musson and from judah chris
(00:20:26)
frankie started this congregation and
(00:20:28)
then their goal is to replicate kind of
(00:20:30)
the term we use as more saturday
(00:20:32)
churches
(00:20:33)
we want to have church on saturday i
(00:20:35)
tell everyone have you seen a messianic
(00:20:37)
synagogue well think of us as a
(00:20:39)
messianic church
(00:20:41)
our goal is for the droves of people
(00:20:44)
that are seeing torah
(00:20:46)
to come to a place to where the message
(00:20:48)
is obviously
(00:20:50)
different than what they've heard but
(00:20:52)
the environment isn't so foreign that
(00:20:55)
they don't know what to do and now
(00:20:56)
granted it takes all of us in the
(00:20:58)
kingdom um but at our place we're going
(00:21:00)
to start with the shema we're going to
(00:21:01)
end with the aaronic blessing but
(00:21:02)
everything else in between it's going to
(00:21:04)
seem like a church service that you're
(00:21:06)
used to until you see us pull out this
(00:21:08)
you know hoopa and bless the kids but
(00:21:10)
parents really love that aspect um
(00:21:14)
and then you're going to have a worship
(00:21:15)
set and it's going to be followed up by
(00:21:16)
a message and then as the lord leads we
(00:21:18)
might have a ministry time at the end
(00:21:20)
and then we'll sing a song and pray and
(00:21:22)
go home
(00:21:23)
and by having this
(00:21:26)
it has really brought down the walls of
(00:21:28)
defense
(00:21:29)
i know i had a friend who was trying to
(00:21:32)
come into this walk and their very first
(00:21:34)
thing they went to a very
(00:21:36)
traditional messianic synagogue
(00:21:39)
when they first started seeing torah and
(00:21:41)
they were like no i'm out they saw the
(00:21:44)
torah procession and they saw you know
(00:21:46)
and they were like um
(00:21:48)
this is not for me right and so trying
(00:21:51)
to give the opportunity where
(00:21:53)
the
(00:21:54)
procedure is not so
(00:21:56)
foreign that they can't hear the message
(00:21:58)
because the message is what we want them
(00:22:00)
to hear we are blessed to be so diverse
(00:22:03)
of course we have our youth and young
(00:22:04)
adults there that uh that we talk to
(00:22:06)
during the week but we are truly hff
(00:22:10)
we're truly the hebraic family
(00:22:12)
fellowship
(00:22:13)
my other local elder is 80 years old he
(00:22:16)
and his wife uh brother willie gillis
(00:22:18)
and miss antoinette gillis
(00:22:21)
they're kind of our presiding elder
(00:22:22)
there they're kind of everybody's
(00:22:23)
grandma and grandpa
(00:22:25)
and mama gillis and papa gillis are just
(00:22:29)
blessing they make you feel welcome
(00:22:30)
they're one of those you you've known
(00:22:31)
him your whole life
(00:22:33)
we've got our deacon brother anthony
(00:22:35)
cooper and
(00:22:36)
what we're doing i've only been here
(00:22:38)
since august
(00:22:40)
of of last i know it'll be two years
(00:22:42)
this august but when i came due to the
(00:22:45)
building they were in that church was so
(00:22:47)
coveted panicked that they basically got
(00:22:49)
pushed out of the building they were
(00:22:51)
renting to the point that that church
(00:22:52)
they were meeting and shut down covert
(00:22:54)
was such a big deal so they went virtual
(00:22:57)
and uh for a while
(00:22:59)
um and then we just got in the building
(00:23:01)
last passover so we're almost at a year
(00:23:04)
of meeting in person again and so it's
(00:23:06)
kind of like we're relaunching and super
(00:23:09)
excited on our board of directors of
(00:23:11)
course are the three guys
(00:23:13)
from the norman congregation until we
(00:23:15)
can grow a little more and have enough
(00:23:17)
local leadership that we can be
(00:23:19)
self-sustaining in our leadership
(00:23:21)
they have been amazing to work with
(00:23:23)
multiple talented guys and
(00:23:25)
amazing teachers of the word of god
(00:23:27)
worship leaders uh so we'll see
(00:23:30)
different things this coming shabbat
(00:23:32)
we're going to have chris frankie or
(00:23:34)
mason clover or whatever his name is
(00:23:36)
this week
(00:23:37)
leading worship and speaking
(00:23:40)
and it's just it's it's been great it's
(00:23:42)
been an amazing experience
(00:23:44)
to see a place
(00:23:46)
that teaches the full counsel of the
(00:23:48)
word of god
(00:23:49)
but that emphasizes the family aspect
(00:23:53)
more than we do the knowledge aspect
(00:23:56)
amen
(00:23:58)
and uh and what time do your services
(00:24:00)
start brian
(00:24:01)
we start at three o'clock we we try to
(00:24:03)
be very faithful to start at three
(00:24:04)
o'clock sharp now that's central time
(00:24:07)
central time uh we also live stream you
(00:24:10)
can check us out on facebook we'll also
(00:24:11)
be launching on youtube hopefully uh in
(00:24:13)
the next two weeks to where we're going
(00:24:15)
live on both platforms and we go till 4
(00:24:19)
30 or 5 depending on how wound up the
(00:24:22)
speaker of the moment gets
(00:24:24)
um sometimes i can get rip roaring other
(00:24:27)
times we're concise and to the point but
(00:24:30)
it's just been a
(00:24:32)
blessing to be able to to be in the dfw
(00:24:34)
we're the only
(00:24:36)
uh hebraic church
(00:24:38)
that i'm aware of in the entire dfw
(00:24:41)
metroplex area we have lots of
(00:24:43)
synagogues we have lots of home groups
(00:24:45)
and friends with all those guys
(00:24:47)
we get together and collaborate for
(00:24:49)
different things and feasts and events
(00:24:51)
but
(00:24:53)
to actually have a church where people
(00:24:55)
can come and learn
(00:24:57)
um of the shabbat and of the feasts and
(00:25:00)
of the the commandments in a place
(00:25:02)
that's not threatening
(00:25:04)
but it's welcoming um
(00:25:07)
then we're super super blessed to be
(00:25:09)
able to offer this opportunity to the
(00:25:11)
dfw metro area and so if you're watching
(00:25:14)
this
(00:25:15)
you need to do two things one of course
(00:25:17)
plug into pft and support fully but
(00:25:20)
check us out online see what you think
(00:25:22)
um and i've got to say of course that
(00:25:24)
part of my journey is when i was
(00:25:26)
challenged with torah somebody gave me
(00:25:28)
these two dvds
(00:25:30)
truth or tradition and identity crisis
(00:25:32)
an identity crisis
(00:25:34)
um is truly the motivation between
(00:25:38)
or behind what we try to do as a
(00:25:40)
congregation
(00:25:42)
is uh in the words of the prophet mufasa
(00:25:45)
people need to remember who you are
(00:25:48)
because people don't know who they are
(00:25:51)
yeah for sure you know i'm going to get
(00:25:52)
emails about this prophet musa mufasa
(00:25:56)
directly to you there is no prophet
(00:25:58)
mufasa that comes from the lion king
(00:26:00)
just so everybody knows
(00:26:03)
remember
(00:26:04)
that's right remember this we are
(00:26:06)
children of god and there's a lot of
(00:26:08)
children of god out there oh i'm just
(00:26:11)
joking but no seriously uh ladies and
(00:26:14)
gentlemen i go and check out brian's
(00:26:16)
congregation let me screen share this
(00:26:18)
one more time just so you can see where
(00:26:20)
he's at on the map uh he is looks like
(00:26:24)
dead center between dallas and fort
(00:26:27)
worth they're in arlington
(00:26:29)
check him out if you're anywhere in that
(00:26:31)
area you will definitely
(00:26:34)
be blessed i think brian is not only a
(00:26:37)
great teacher um he's one of the
(00:26:39)
funniest guys i know he's also really
(00:26:41)
good at barbecue so if you can uh if you
(00:26:44)
can if you can pin him down at home
(00:26:46)
just tell them that you need some bible
(00:26:48)
counseling around five or six o'clock
(00:26:50)
p.m and you probably have a pork chop on
(00:26:53)
your plate no not not really not really
(00:26:55)
a pork chop
(00:26:56)
maybe some beef ribs how's that there
(00:26:58)
you go so anyway brian thank you so much
(00:27:01)
for being on the program today uh man i
(00:27:04)
really pray the father blesses you you
(00:27:05)
are already super blessed you've blessed
(00:27:07)
me you've blessed my family my kids and
(00:27:10)
and uh and i i am definitely blessed to
(00:27:12)
to be on your your list of friends so
(00:27:15)
you know one of only really three
(00:27:18)
major youth camps in the country for the
(00:27:21)
torah movement for the christian roots
(00:27:22)
movement i encourage you to take a look
(00:27:24)
at it messiah texas and hffchurch.com
(00:27:30)
correct
(00:27:31)
hff.church and messagetexas.com
(00:27:34)
all right hff.church and
(00:27:36)
messiahtexas.com
(00:27:38)
ladies and gentlemen we will be right
(00:27:41)
back
(00:27:42)
right after this we have
(00:27:44)
rj jackson coming up uh he is become a
(00:27:47)
very close friend of mine he is not only
(00:27:50)
professional he not only knows what he's
(00:27:52)
doing
(00:27:53)
this guy is impacting hundreds of lives
(00:27:56)
of young people's lives per week
(00:27:59)
and we will
(00:28:01)
catch him right on the other side of
(00:28:03)
this break
(00:28:04)
don't go nowhere
(00:28:16)
[Music]
(00:28:36)
