There's been this idea especially I know
(00:00:03)
living in the United States and it's
(00:00:04)
probably true for most of the Western
(00:00:06)
world that we have to rely on someone
(00:00:08)
else for our health. You have to go to
(00:00:09)
the doctor rather than caring for for
(00:00:12)
yourself and for your family.
(00:00:13)
>> I'm not against doctors. Some of my best
(00:00:15)
friends are doctors and I'm sure you'll
(00:00:17)
be one of my best friends now that I
(00:00:19)
think most doctors are ethical but the
(00:00:21)
pharmaceutical company is not. The
(00:00:24)
doctors should stop putting their trust
(00:00:26)
in [music] the pharmaceutical company.
(00:00:27)
>> Wow, that's so good.
(00:00:28)
>> They must stop. They trust that they've
(00:00:31)
done the [music] research and we've seen
(00:00:33)
it in the paper many times, the
(00:00:34)
whistleblower. They're they're not doing
(00:00:36)
the testing. They're not. You see, drugs
(00:00:39)
never cure disease. And some might say,
(00:00:40)
"Well, [music] Baba, can you really say
(00:00:42)
never?" You can say never because they
(00:00:45)
only mask symptoms. It's the body and
(00:00:47)
the body alone is the only the only
(00:00:51)
thing that has the capacity to heal.
(00:00:53)
Now, that changed my life. What do you
(00:00:57)
think are maybe three or so of the
(00:00:59)
biggest mistakes people are making that
(00:01:01)
they're just totally unaware of that's
(00:01:03)
really harming their health?
(00:01:15)
[music]

(00:01:26)
>> Hey everyone, welcome to Dr. Josh Axe
(00:01:28)
Show. Today I have an incredible guest.
(00:01:30)
I'm a huge fan of Barbara O'Neal. Uh
(00:01:33)
she's been a legend in the space. You
(00:01:34)
know, I got turned on to her during co I
(00:01:36)
started watching many of her videos
(00:01:37)
online and she does such an incredible
(00:01:40)
job of taking complex health matters and
(00:01:42)
making them simple. We're going to talk
(00:01:44)
about female hormones, fertility,
(00:01:46)
women's hormones, biblical health, and
(00:01:49)
some maybe even controversial views we
(00:01:51)
both have about conventional medicine
(00:01:53)
and natural medicine. Barbara, welcome
(00:01:54)
to the show.
(00:01:55)
>> Thanks. It's great to be here.
(00:01:57)
>> Well, again, I'm a huge fan of you. When
(00:01:58)
I told my mother-in-law, my mom, my
(00:02:00)
wife, everybody I was coming on to, they
(00:02:02)
were extremely excited because uh you've
(00:02:04)
done such an amazing job of taking uh I
(00:02:07)
think something that a lot of health
(00:02:09)
topics that people maybe knew about
(00:02:10)
quite a few years ago that sort of been
(00:02:12)
lost. And one of those topics I want to
(00:02:14)
dive into first is related to hormone
(00:02:16)
health. Actually, before I do that
(00:02:17)
though, I would love to know a little
(00:02:18)
bit about sort of your background of how
(00:02:20)
you got into the natural medicine space.
(00:02:23)
Well, I was I'm a fifth generation
(00:02:25)
Australian, Scottish descent. So, I was
(00:02:27)
brought up in your average Aussie home.
(00:02:30)
Little bit of a Scottish there because I
(00:02:32)
I learned Scottish dancing as a child.
(00:02:34)
Five kids. My father and my brother were
(00:02:37)
inventors. And everything that came into
(00:02:39)
the home, they pulled apart. They wanted
(00:02:41)
to know how it worked. And I couldn't
(00:02:43)
get my license till I learned how a
(00:02:45)
engine works. You know, this was the
(00:02:48)
environment I grew up in. We questioned
(00:02:50)
everything except medicine.
(00:02:53)
>> You never questioned medicine. And I
(00:02:55)
never even thought about that until my
(00:02:57)
first daughter had an ear ache and four
(00:03:01)
courses of antibiotics later, 6 weeks
(00:03:04)
later, the earachche comes back.
(00:03:06)
>> Yeah.
(00:03:06)
>> Now I'm confronted,
(00:03:09)
very confronted with this is not
(00:03:11)
working. As the doctor writes the fifth
(00:03:14)
course, I said, "Will my daughter be on
(00:03:16)
this for the rest of her life?" He was
(00:03:18)
confronted with my question and he
(00:03:20)
should have been.
(00:03:21)
>> Yeah.
(00:03:21)
>> And he sent me to an ear, nose, and
(00:03:23)
throat specialist. She looked in Emma's
(00:03:25)
mouth, in her ears. He said, "The
(00:03:27)
child's teething. Give her these drops
(00:03:29)
to keep the ustation tubes clean."
(00:03:32)
>> So when my next child had an ear, I did
(00:03:34)
not go to the doctor. I did not tell
(00:03:35)
anyone because you get pressure. They'll
(00:03:37)
go deaf. Don't you don't
(00:03:39)
>> I went to the old lady next door. So I
(00:03:41)
must have been about 26. She's 86. I
(00:03:44)
said, "What did your mother do when you
(00:03:46)
were a little girl?" and had an earache.
(00:03:48)
She said she steamed an onion on the
(00:03:50)
stove. I ran home, steamed the onion,
(00:03:52)
put it on his ear. He slept for 2 hours.
(00:03:54)
I don't think he's ever had another
(00:03:55)
earachche.
(00:03:56)
>> Wow.
(00:03:56)
>> Now, that changed my life.
(00:04:00)
I thought there's something else. But,
(00:04:03)
you know, to this day, I'm very thankful
(00:04:05)
for that feeling. Not wanting to give my
(00:04:08)
child any more drugs, not wanting to
(00:04:10)
hurt my child, but not knowing what to
(00:04:13)
do. And that really has spurned me on to
(00:04:19)
educate, educate, educate, to show the
(00:04:22)
world, especially mothers, there's
(00:04:25)
something else.
(00:04:26)
>> Yeah, you do such an amazing job. I I
(00:04:28)
especially think of your whiteboard
(00:04:30)
videos where you sort of walk us through
(00:04:32)
uh exactly uh how people can heal. And
(00:04:35)
this is something, you know, uh I think,
(00:04:37)
you know, doctors or health
(00:04:40)
practitioners need to be teachers and
(00:04:42)
educators. And this is something you do
(00:04:43)
a great job of. And one of the areas
(00:04:45)
I've seen you do a lot of education on
(00:04:47)
is around women's hormones, fertility.
(00:04:49)
I'd love to start there and diving into
(00:04:51)
women's hormones because what happens
(00:04:53)
today, you know, most of the time women
(00:04:55)
have an issue like hypothyroidism, PCOS,
(00:04:58)
severe menopausal symptoms, and their
(00:05:00)
doctor says, "Here's cthroidid."
(00:05:03)
>> Yeah.
(00:05:03)
>> Here's hormone replacement therapy. And
(00:05:06)
two others that have become big are
(00:05:09)
thyroid and osteoporosis and depression.
(00:05:12)
Th this is big. So I have the advantage
(00:05:16)
of being the health director at our
(00:05:18)
health retreat for 23 years. So a lot of
(00:05:20)
women came through through our doors and
(00:05:23)
I would like to suggest that about
(00:05:27)
>> oh 85% of women that came through the
(00:05:29)
doors whether they be nine whether they
(00:05:31)
be 90 a hormonal imbalance. So coming
(00:05:35)
from my roots, I want to know why.
(00:05:37)
>> Yeah.
(00:05:37)
>> Why?
(00:05:39)
And I found out why. One of them is the
(00:05:42)
contraceptive pill.
(00:05:43)
>> That's right.
(00:05:43)
>> It disrupts the hormones. And no one
(00:05:45)
ever told women that it was a hormone
(00:05:49)
disruptor.
(00:05:50)
>> You know, there was a study that came
(00:05:51)
out recently that said if women take the
(00:05:53)
pill longterm, birth control, their
(00:05:55)
chance of getting hypothyroidism goes up
(00:05:56)
by nearly 300%.
(00:05:58)
>> Oh, it doesn't surprise me. and breast
(00:06:01)
cancer and polycystic ovarian syndrome
(00:06:03)
and fibroids and endometriosis.
(00:06:07)
There was basically
(00:06:09)
>> endometriosis was virtually not until
(00:06:13)
the pill was introduced. So it's not
(00:06:15)
hard to link those figures together.
(00:06:17)
>> Yeah.
(00:06:18)
>> Now there are some women that have never
(00:06:20)
been on the pill, neither their mother.
(00:06:22)
So then we're looking elsewhere and
(00:06:24)
we've got environmental poisons. In the
(00:06:26)
molecular structure of estrogen, there's
(00:06:28)
a phenol ring. And the plastic softening
(00:06:33)
chemical that's in nearly every plastic
(00:06:35)
bottle that's in in cars, in the, you
(00:06:38)
know, the dashboard, it's all got a
(00:06:41)
fennel in it. One's bisphenol, another
(00:06:43)
one is nonoffenel.
(00:06:45)
>> Yeah.
(00:06:46)
>> Also, growth stimulants in chickens.
(00:06:48)
It's in the chicken. It's in the egg. in
(00:06:51)
cattle and cleaning products. People are
(00:06:53)
using chemical fabrics. So I've got
(00:06:57)
woolen skirt, I have got wool and top. I
(00:07:00)
love wool.
(00:07:01)
>> Yeah.
(00:07:01)
>> But the fabric that most women are
(00:07:03)
wearing is nylon, acrylic, and polyester
(00:07:06)
>> and they are three fabrics that were
(00:07:08)
created in a chemical laboratory.
(00:07:10)
>> Yeah.
(00:07:11)
>> And our skin our skin is a it breathes.
(00:07:14)
It absorbs. So when it's touching the
(00:07:16)
skin, we're taking it in. Now all of
(00:07:19)
these areas I've just mentioned little
(00:07:21)
by little like the dripping tap on a
(00:07:23)
stone are disrupting disrupting that
(00:07:27)
that hormone balance and our body runs
(00:07:30)
according to precision balance.
(00:07:32)
>> Yeah.
(00:07:32)
>> So this disruption is causing all the
(00:07:36)
problems we're seeing which are some of
(00:07:38)
them we just mentioned. Now, what are
(00:07:40)
some of the things like if you were
(00:07:41)
working with a woman and she has and
(00:07:44)
then and you could you could hit on
(00:07:45)
these al together or categorically but
(00:07:48)
these common conditions hypothyroidism
(00:07:50)
being one PCOS infertility some of those
(00:07:53)
issues what are some of the things that
(00:07:55)
you start to recommend women do to bring
(00:07:56)
their hormones back into balance.
(00:07:59)
Now you asked me first of all what was
(00:08:01)
my journey. There was another part of my
(00:08:03)
journey is when I became a Christian.
(00:08:06)
>> I became a Christian at the age of about
(00:08:08)
26 27
(00:08:10)
>> and I discovered health from the Bible.
(00:08:12)
And there's a verse in there at Psalm
(00:08:14)
104:14 that God gave herbs for the
(00:08:17)
service of man. I love that verse the
(00:08:20)
service. I'm here to serve you. Where
(00:08:22)
would you like me? What would you have
(00:08:24)
me do? Whereas drugs, they're like
(00:08:26)
robots. Get out of my way. That's right.
(00:08:29)
I'm going to force you to do something
(00:08:30)
the body doesn't want.
(00:08:31)
>> I got a job to do whether you need it or
(00:08:33)
not. So see a mark difference. The wild
(00:08:36)
yam contains a plant chemical called
(00:08:39)
diogenin.
(00:08:41)
>> And when that wild yam is um made into a
(00:08:45)
oil-based cream and that cream is
(00:08:48)
applied to the skin, the fat cells take
(00:08:50)
it up and it stimulates the biochemical
(00:08:53)
pathway in the body that the body uses
(00:08:55)
to make progesterone.
(00:08:56)
>> Yeah. Wow. Now progesterone's mother
(00:08:58)
hormone. So mother hormone overall and
(00:09:02)
unfortunately what the pill does it
(00:09:04)
displaces progesterone and boosts up
(00:09:07)
estrogen.
(00:09:08)
>> Yeah.
(00:09:08)
>> So the way to remedy that imbalance
(00:09:11)
which is estrogen dominant progesterone
(00:09:13)
deficiency is reinstate mother. And
(00:09:17)
that's what the yam cream does.
(00:09:19)
>> It stimulates the body
(00:09:21)
>> to reinstate progesterone. Wow.
(00:09:23)
>> And when you boost progesterone, it
(00:09:26)
brings estrogen down. It it rebalances
(00:09:29)
testosterone. It brings everything back
(00:09:31)
into balance.
(00:09:32)
>> You know, I uh I I was I was reading on
(00:09:35)
this a little bit about yams and sweet
(00:09:37)
potatoes and this amazing compound
(00:09:38)
you're sharing. And obviously, I think
(00:09:40)
eating those is fantastic, but as you're
(00:09:42)
mentioning, the cream is going to be a
(00:09:43)
little bit higher dose, higher
(00:09:44)
absorption. There are great benefits
(00:09:46)
there. There's a a uh paper that came
(00:09:48)
out two months ago that said Japan now
(00:09:51)
has 95,000 centurions. So, think about
(00:09:54)
almost 100,000 people over 100 years
(00:09:56)
old. It's amazing. And hormone
(00:09:57)
replacement there is virtually
(00:09:59)
non-existent. But one of the top two, I
(00:10:02)
think, sources of carbohydrates they
(00:10:03)
consume are purple sweet potatoes. It's
(00:10:05)
a big part of their diet, especially
(00:10:06)
women going through menopause. And so, I
(00:10:08)
think one of those reasons might be that
(00:10:11)
in boosting yin, boosting progesterone,
(00:10:12)
as you're sharing. [snorts] I absolutely
(00:10:14)
love that. Well, what are your what are
(00:10:16)
your thoughts on is there anything in
(00:10:18)
particular or herbs or uh things that
(00:10:21)
you like for women who are really
(00:10:22)
struggling with hypothyroidism or
(00:10:24)
Hashimoto's?
(00:10:26)
>> Well, there's an excellent book called
(00:10:28)
Iodine, why you need it and why you
(00:10:30)
can't live without it by Dr. David Brain
(00:10:33)
um Brownstein. Yeah. Now he is uh the
(00:10:37)
the thyroid expert in the world. Yeah.
(00:10:39)
>> And he shows that under and overactive
(00:10:42)
thyroid can both be due to iodine
(00:10:44)
deficiency.
(00:10:45)
>> Yeah.
(00:10:46)
>> And you know they used to use iodine as
(00:10:49)
a bread improver but now they've
(00:10:51)
replaced it with um iodine competers.
(00:10:55)
>> But also berries. Berries are sprayed
(00:10:59)
with another chemical that's an iodine.
(00:11:03)
It's like a broomemide that's an iodine
(00:11:05)
compet.
(00:11:06)
>> So there's we're exposed to so many
(00:11:08)
things that are causing this disruption
(00:11:10)
in in the iodine.
(00:11:13)
>> And another point is too mercury
(00:11:16)
fillings. Mercury has an affinity for
(00:11:18)
selenium
(00:11:19)
>> and the thyroid needs selenium to
(00:11:22)
convert iodine into thyroxine. So, can
(00:11:25)
you see someone be could be having berry
(00:11:27)
smoothies every day and uh mer mouthful
(00:11:31)
of mercury fillings and be having
(00:11:34)
thyroid problems and their mother was on
(00:11:36)
the pill and not many people and not
(00:11:39)
many even doctors know those threads
(00:11:42)
that come together.
(00:11:43)
>> So, get the mercury out of them out of
(00:11:46)
the mouth. See a biological dentist.
(00:11:48)
>> And if you're going to have berries,
(00:11:51)
have organic.
(00:11:52)
And if you're going to eat bread, make
(00:11:55)
sure it's the ancient grains and it's
(00:11:57)
not being grown with glyphosate, another
(00:12:00)
chemical that can disrupt the hormones.
(00:12:03)
>> And do an iodine test. So you put h say
(00:12:06)
lugal solution, which has iodine and
(00:12:08)
iodide on the on the inside of your arm
(00:12:11)
and it'll make a brown smudge. We often
(00:12:13)
do at our health retreat. Ladies, let's
(00:12:15)
all have a look at at how long it stays.
(00:12:18)
>> Now, if it's gone in an hour, your
(00:12:20)
iodine levels are low. And if it's still
(00:12:22)
got some semblance of color five hours
(00:12:25)
later, your iodine levels are good. So I
(00:12:28)
like to empower people to be their own
(00:12:30)
doctor. So here's a little test that you
(00:12:32)
can do for yourself. What if it's gone
(00:12:33)
in an hour? We'll put it on every day
(00:12:35)
till it stays for five.
(00:12:37)
>> There you go.
(00:12:37)
>> It can be as simple as that.
(00:12:39)
>> You know, one thing I think we've lost
(00:12:40)
the art of, I think I think there's been
(00:12:42)
this idea, especially I know living in
(00:12:45)
the United States, and it's probably
(00:12:46)
true for most of the Western world, that
(00:12:48)
we have to rely on someone else for our
(00:12:50)
health. like like you have to go to the
(00:12:52)
doctor
(00:12:53)
>> rather than caring for for yourself and
(00:12:56)
for your family. And I think that this
(00:12:58)
is this is so important. This is one of
(00:12:59)
the things I really respect about you is
(00:13:01)
empowering moms and dads to learn about
(00:13:04)
these things practices at home. You
(00:13:05)
know, I had a uh a functional medicine
(00:13:07)
practice in Nashville, took care of a
(00:13:08)
lot of kids. And ear infections is one
(00:13:10)
of the most common things I see with
(00:13:12)
this where kids will get ear infections
(00:13:14)
and then their doctor puts this fear in
(00:13:17)
them that if they don't take an
(00:13:19)
antibiotic, their kid could likely die.
(00:13:21)
And the reality is that the statistics
(00:13:23)
don't prove that your own body is
(00:13:25)
creating heat and interferon to kill
(00:13:27)
this virus. But but but parents are so
(00:13:29)
fearful today often times of of
(00:13:31)
sometimes even trying some of these
(00:13:33)
remedies that I know I teach and you
(00:13:34)
teach even more so.
(00:13:35)
>> That's true. Cuz I know with my
(00:13:37)
daughter, they said she'll go deaf.
(00:13:39)
>> Yeah.
(00:13:41)
>> Well, she didn't go deaf. And I raised
(00:13:44)
five more children and then married
(00:13:47)
Michael 28 years ago with his two. So we
(00:13:49)
we actually raised eight children with
(00:13:52)
no antibiotics. And I say to people,
(00:13:53)
they're all still alive.
(00:13:55)
>> Yeah.
(00:13:55)
>> The the body's been designed by God to
(00:13:59)
heal itself.
(00:14:00)
>> That's right.
(00:14:01)
>> And it just needs the right conditions.
(00:14:03)
Back to thyroid. Yeah. High estrogen
(00:14:05)
opposes thyroid function.
(00:14:07)
>> So very important part of getting the
(00:14:10)
thyroid working again is taking the or
(00:14:13)
applying the wild yam cream. Dr. John
(00:14:15)
Lee is probably the first physician that
(00:14:17)
blew the whistle on this back in the 80s
(00:14:20)
90s. He's passed now but you can still
(00:14:22)
see podcast by him and he said that when
(00:14:26)
you eat the yam you your liver
(00:14:29)
detoxifies almost 400%. M
(00:14:32)
>> and that's why the cream
(00:14:34)
>> so you can pick up so much more and you
(00:14:36)
mentioned earlier you can get a heavier
(00:14:38)
dose a more effective dose um by
(00:14:42)
applying it to the skin. I think that's
(00:14:44)
helpful to know.
(00:14:45)
>> I love it. It's so powerful. So some
(00:14:46)
just just takeaways one reducing the
(00:14:49)
toxic exposure staying away from a lot
(00:14:51)
of the plastic silver fillings. I know
(00:14:52)
my own mom who she had a battle with
(00:14:54)
cancer and uh one of the things we did
(00:14:57)
to help her heal she had 12 silver
(00:14:59)
fillings in her mouth amalgams had them
(00:15:01)
all removed and she had dealt with
(00:15:02)
chronic fatigue syndrome hypothyroidism
(00:15:04)
and it was amazing I mean really just
(00:15:06)
even weeks after getting rid of those
(00:15:07)
fillings
(00:15:08)
>> she felt a lift in her energy I mean
(00:15:10)
there's a real real difference and a lot
(00:15:11)
of these metals they're blocking
(00:15:13)
receptor sites for what you're talking
(00:15:14)
about iodine for selenium we're not even
(00:15:16)
absorbing these things and so I love
(00:15:18)
that you're sharing that I was watching
(00:15:19)
a video of yours here just a little bit
(00:15:21)
before we started the interview on you
(00:15:23)
talking about the importance of the gut
(00:15:24)
microbiome because it's not only you
(00:15:26)
know we heard this principle we are what
(00:15:28)
you eat but really as you've said you
(00:15:31)
are what you absorb. Talk to us about
(00:15:34)
how to get the gut microbiome healthy.
(00:15:36)
Some of your favorite plants for doing
(00:15:37)
that and why it's so important.
(00:15:39)
>> Well, you got to get the poisons out and
(00:15:41)
antibiotics slaughter gut flora.
(00:15:43)
Chemotherapy slaughter the gut.
(00:15:46)
A lot of people don't realize that the
(00:15:47)
statin drugs, the cholesterol lowering
(00:15:49)
medication, and that's of course the
(00:15:52)
pharmaceutical company's star child cuz
(00:15:55)
they've made not millions, not
(00:15:58)
trillions, but billions out of that
(00:16:01)
medication. And yet that just slaughters
(00:16:04)
gut flora. Long-term painkiller use can
(00:16:07)
also slaughter gut flora. So, we got to
(00:16:09)
stop what's slaughtering it.
(00:16:11)
>> Yes. And we've got to re reinstate the
(00:16:14)
good stuff. When you when you consider
(00:16:17)
that 70% of our immune system is
(00:16:19)
established by our gut flora, we want we
(00:16:22)
want that gut flora. The good news is
(00:16:24)
there are some cultured foods that you
(00:16:25)
can take and that will help to boost it
(00:16:28)
like sauerkraut.
(00:16:30)
>> Um kimchi um um bak choy that's often
(00:16:35)
made also into a uh sauerkraut.
(00:16:38)
Sauerkrauts are good. and miso is
(00:16:41)
another one. Kea, yogurts, you can get
(00:16:43)
some nice plant-based yogurts. Now, they
(00:16:46)
all help to
(00:16:48)
>> restore gut flora.
(00:16:50)
>> But what feeds gut flora is prebiotics.
(00:16:52)
And prebiotic is fiber.
(00:16:54)
>> Yeah.
(00:16:55)
>> And the more variety in fiber you have,
(00:16:57)
the more gut flora you're going to feed.
(00:17:00)
>> For instance, you can have 10 different
(00:17:01)
types of apples and they will feed 10
(00:17:04)
different types of gut flora.
(00:17:06)
>> Wow.
(00:17:07)
>> Isn't that incredible?
(00:17:08)
>> It is amazing. It's so amazing.
(00:17:10)
>> Yeah. So, fried variety is the spice of
(00:17:12)
life. Variety is the spice of life to
(00:17:14)
our gut.
(00:17:15)
>> Yeah, that's right.
(00:17:16)
>> Variet in the vegetable kingdom.
(00:17:18)
>> That's right. I love that. It's so
(00:17:19)
powerful. Yeah. Yeah, I mean the gut
(00:17:21)
microbiome is is something I've been uh
(00:17:24)
very aware of with my career because you
(00:17:26)
know what there there is so much it's
(00:17:28)
like 99% of the way I practice is not
(00:17:30)
things I learned in school you know and
(00:17:32)
so when I started seeing patients I I
(00:17:35)
was very surprised when I first started
(00:17:36)
a functional medicine practice because
(00:17:38)
then school they don't tell you that
(00:17:40)
every woman coming in is going to have
(00:17:41)
hypothyroidism and every male is going
(00:17:43)
to come have low testosterone and every
(00:17:45)
person almost is going to have leaky gut
(00:17:47)
some sort of gut issue and it's so
(00:17:49)
prevalent And um but I remember uh
(00:17:53)
really focusing on especially early in
(00:17:55)
my career healing the gut and it helps
(00:17:56)
so many conditions get well. One of the
(00:17:59)
other things I've heard you talk about
(00:18:00)
is certain natural plants and their
(00:18:02)
benefits. As as I was uh watching a
(00:18:04)
video of you earlier, you were talking
(00:18:05)
about the benefits of things like I want
(00:18:07)
to say aloe and certain other herbals.
(00:18:09)
Share with us some of your favorite
(00:18:10)
herbals and plant-based medicines for
(00:18:12)
helping heal the gut.
(00:18:13)
>> Well, when you when you open an aloe
(00:18:15)
vera plant, it's slimy.
(00:18:18)
>> Yeah. And if you look at the inside of
(00:18:20)
your lip, it's slimy. It's the same.
(00:18:24)
>> Yes. Exactly.
(00:18:25)
>> But aloe vera contains a growth
(00:18:27)
stimulant and it stimulates rapid
(00:18:30)
healing
(00:18:31)
>> in the lining of the gut. Now, our gut
(00:18:34)
cells are remade every 3 to 5 days. So,
(00:18:37)
with gut problems, you can heal them
(00:18:40)
quite quickly once the right condition
(00:18:43)
is given. But you've got to remember
(00:18:44)
that the gut has memory. So, you got to
(00:18:47)
change that around a bit. So, how do you
(00:18:50)
take the aloe vera? Because it's
(00:18:52)
actually not very nice to eat. Some
(00:18:54)
people will put it in a smoothie. You
(00:18:57)
could scrape the gel and mash it up and
(00:18:59)
put it with a little apple juice mainly.
(00:19:02)
So, it'll coat and soothe. Great for a
(00:19:04)
sore throat, great for ulcer in the
(00:19:06)
stomach, great for irritable bowel all
(00:19:08)
the way down. It's great for that.
(00:19:10)
>> Well, if you think about it like this,
(00:19:11)
so like ulcers for instance, it's
(00:19:13)
essentially a burn. And alo of course
(00:19:15)
aloe is great for burns on your skin but
(00:19:18)
these burns and people don't think about
(00:19:19)
it like that. you got these burns almost
(00:19:20)
these canker like soores throughout our
(00:19:22)
digestive lining obviously ulcer of
(00:19:25)
colitis is a great example that's some
(00:19:26)
of these forms of IBD
(00:19:28)
>> fantastic in fact we've seen people
(00:19:30)
totally heal from irritable bowel
(00:19:32)
Crohn's disease colitis gastritis you
(00:19:36)
name it
(00:19:37)
>> that they heal nicely the other herb is
(00:19:39)
slipp
(00:19:40)
>> oh yeah
(00:19:40)
>> and slipp is the powdered bark of the
(00:19:42)
slipper elm tree and when you mix hot
(00:19:46)
water with it it goes like a soft jelly
(00:19:49)
Yeah.
(00:19:49)
>> So again, nice and slimy for the
(00:19:51)
[laughter]
(00:19:52)
>> for the lining of the gut. It also
(00:19:55)
contains a growth stimulant. So I just
(00:19:58)
love Psalm 104:14. God gave herbs for
(00:20:01)
the service of man. So these herbs come
(00:20:03)
in, they coat, soothe, and help to heal
(00:20:06)
the lining of the gut.
(00:20:07)
>> It's so powerful. You know, I wrote a I
(00:20:09)
I wrote this really short little ebook
(00:20:11)
years ago, and it was called The King's
(00:20:13)
Medicine Cabinet. And in the book uh I I
(00:20:16)
kind of posed in the first just again
(00:20:18)
this is a free ebook I just gave away
(00:20:20)
online and in the book I said if we
(00:20:22)
would go back to the time of King David,
(00:20:24)
King Solomon, Queen Esther and we would
(00:20:26)
have opened up their medicine cabinet,
(00:20:28)
what would we have found in a biblical
(00:20:30)
medicine cabinet thousands of years ago?
(00:20:31)
What do you think we would have found in
(00:20:32)
those biblical medicine cabinets?
(00:20:33)
>> I'm sure there'd be comry there.
(00:20:35)
>> Yes. Yeah.
(00:20:37)
>> Comry is the other plant that has a
(00:20:38)
growth stimulant. You got to be careful
(00:20:40)
where you put it or it'll take over your
(00:20:42)
garden cuz it's got a growth stimulant
(00:20:44)
in it.
(00:20:44)
>> Wow.
(00:20:45)
>> And so I was in a Robert Louis Stevenson
(00:20:48)
a museum in one of the islands where he
(00:20:50)
apparently lived for a while and in the
(00:20:53)
medicine cabinet I saw comry.
(00:20:56)
>> Wow. [laughter] Wow. Amazing.
(00:20:57)
>> I think there would have been comry. I
(00:20:59)
think there would have been charcoal.
(00:21:01)
Charcoal absorbs and neutralizes
(00:21:03)
poisons. Even medicine use it now. Do
(00:21:05)
you know they filter blood for dialysis
(00:21:07)
with charcoal? And if someone has an
(00:21:09)
overdose, they give them charcoal. It
(00:21:11)
absorbs and neutralizes poisons. There's
(00:21:13)
nothing else on the planet like
(00:21:15)
charcoal. I'm sure there would have been
(00:21:17)
charcoal there. And depending on where
(00:21:19)
they lived as to what herbs and what
(00:21:21)
foods would have been available.
(00:21:23)
>> Yeah. Yeah. I uh you know, we we read
(00:21:26)
about the three wise men bringing, you
(00:21:28)
know, Jesus gold, but frankincense and
(00:21:30)
myrrh. We know those were used for
(00:21:31)
medicine.
(00:21:32)
>> Don't forget the frankincense and don't
(00:21:33)
forget the myrrh.
(00:21:34)
>> That's right. Yeah. I had actually read
(00:21:37)
um back uh many years ago during that
(00:21:39)
time that when women were in labor post
(00:21:41)
pregnancy, they gave myrrh to keep women
(00:21:43)
from getting infection and for
(00:21:44)
recovering faster. That was pretty
(00:21:46)
amazing. I know. Um a few other uh herbs
(00:21:49)
that Solomon references are uh he
(00:21:52)
mentions sandalwoods which is aloe by
(00:21:55)
the way. He just mentioned aloe. So
(00:21:56)
people don't realize that aloe is in the
(00:21:58)
Bible but that's actually referenced as
(00:21:59)
part of sandalwood. And then the other
(00:22:00)
one is saffron. He actually mentioned
(00:22:03)
saffron, which is all these benefits for
(00:22:05)
mood and sleep. So, I love I love that
(00:22:06)
you're quoting Psalms 104 because um
(00:22:10)
>> the Bible to me is the greatest health
(00:22:12)
book ever written.
(00:22:14)
>> It's the greatest medical book that has
(00:22:17)
ever been written. And you know what I
(00:22:19)
found interesting? When I was a little
(00:22:21)
girl in the Presbyterian church, cuz I
(00:22:23)
was raised Scottish,
(00:22:24)
>> you heard about Daniel in the lion's
(00:22:26)
den. You heard about Daniel's three
(00:22:29)
friends in the fiery furnace. thrilling
(00:22:31)
stories, but we never heard about Daniel
(00:22:33)
chapter 1.
(00:22:35)
>> And Daniel chapter 1 is when one young
(00:22:38)
Daniel's about 16 taken captive and
(00:22:42)
they're going to give be given the
(00:22:43)
king's food and wine and Daniel and his
(00:22:46)
three friends said no.
(00:22:48)
>> Yeah.
(00:22:49)
>> Now, that's quite a stand for a
(00:22:50)
16-year-old boy to say, "I'm not going
(00:22:52)
to eat at the king's table." That he
(00:22:54)
could have lost his head.
(00:22:55)
>> Yeah. But the Bible says that the prince
(00:22:58)
had favor with Daniel.
(00:23:00)
>> And so he allowed him to go 10 days with
(00:23:04)
just pulse, which is vegetables, and
(00:23:06)
water to drink. And after 10 days, it
(00:23:09)
said their faces were fairer and fatter
(00:23:12)
than all the other young men. So they
(00:23:15)
allowed to just have
(00:23:17)
>> water to drink and a plant-based diet
(00:23:19)
for three years. And at the end of three
(00:23:21)
years, the Bible says that the king
(00:23:22)
tested them and they were 10 times
(00:23:25)
smarter than all the wise men in the
(00:23:29)
well, Babylon. That was the the known
(00:23:32)
world at that time.
(00:23:33)
>> That's amazing.
(00:23:34)
>> And so that that's a story I never heard
(00:23:36)
of.
(00:23:36)
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There are one of, you
(00:23:39)
know, I I recently was writing a book on
(00:23:41)
the on a biblical diet. And one of the
(00:23:43)
things it was so fun to do over the past
(00:23:45)
couple years and and I've I've done this
(00:23:46)
for quite a few years already, but
(00:23:48)
really saying, "Okay, I'm going to write
(00:23:49)
a book on it." So, every time I read
(00:23:51)
read through the Bible, it was like I
(00:23:52)
was using a microscope or a magnifying
(00:23:55)
glass looking for what are those quotes
(00:23:57)
about health. And they are throughout
(00:23:59)
the entire Bible. Like I started
(00:24:00)
learning that uh twothirds of Jesus
(00:24:03)
parables he taught were on farming and
(00:24:05)
food.
(00:24:06)
>> Yeah.
(00:24:06)
>> I mean, his miracles, the fish, the
(00:24:08)
loaves of bread. I mean, the the Bible
(00:24:10)
communion in terms of what you're doing
(00:24:12)
there, there's
(00:24:14)
>> you spent more time healing than
(00:24:16)
preaching.
(00:24:16)
>> That's right. It's amazing. It's so
(00:24:18)
amazing. And so I uh I appreciate so
(00:24:21)
much how you appreciate the Bible. I've
(00:24:23)
heard you talk about the Bible uh in
(00:24:25)
those talks as well. So So you talked
(00:24:26)
about the Daniel and sometimes we call
(00:24:28)
that the Daniel fast today. What are
(00:24:30)
some of the benefits of fasting? Is that
(00:24:32)
something that you ever recommend for
(00:24:33)
for anyone you're working with or for
(00:24:35)
overall health? Well, at our health
(00:24:37)
retreat in Australia, Misty Mountain
(00:24:39)
Health Retreat, guests come in for
(00:24:41)
either one week or two weeks, they come
(00:24:43)
in on a Sunday, we give them a beautiful
(00:24:45)
meal and then in the afternoon they have
(00:24:48)
a steamed sauna and we just serve them a
(00:24:50)
thin soup at night and then Monday,
(00:24:52)
Tuesday are juicing days and every two
(00:24:55)
hours we serve a fresh vegetable light
(00:24:58)
fruit juice. So they first two days are
(00:25:00)
fasting days and they steam saun at the
(00:25:04)
end of every day because that stimulates
(00:25:06)
their skin to throw off more waste and
(00:25:10)
>> we found we find that it's a very
(00:25:12)
effective because the stomach is very
(00:25:14)
happy when it gets a little rest.
(00:25:16)
>> Yes. [laughter]
(00:25:16)
[gasps]
(00:25:17)
>> And we say to our guests, you couldn't
(00:25:19)
eat in a day what we put in your juices.
(00:25:22)
So what we do is we nutritionally
(00:25:24)
support the body. we nutritionally
(00:25:26)
support the liver to effectively
(00:25:28)
detoxify them. Cuz when you're not
(00:25:30)
eating solid food, takes about 1,200
(00:25:33)
calories to digest a meal. So when
(00:25:35)
you're not digesting the meal, then the
(00:25:37)
body's looking around for something to
(00:25:38)
do. So it'll go to the parts of the body
(00:25:41)
with the greatest need. And that's the
(00:25:45)
theory as to why it's been used for
(00:25:47)
centuries to help people heal.
(00:25:50)
>> It's amazing. So my mom um had cancer
(00:25:53)
when she was 41. and she had breast
(00:25:55)
cancer and then about 18 years later she
(00:25:58)
was diagnosed with cancer again on her
(00:25:59)
lung and that second time first time we
(00:26:02)
went all conventional second time we did
(00:26:03)
all natural and the diet you're
(00:26:05)
describing is very similar what my mom
(00:26:07)
followed to reverse cancer she did
(00:26:09)
basically broth
(00:26:11)
lots of steamed vegetables juiced
(00:26:13)
vegetables some berries and wild salmon
(00:26:16)
I mean that was her whole diet and was
(00:26:18)
able to reverse her uh reverse cancer
(00:26:20)
that way but it's uh you know
(00:26:23)
>> there there's this uh I the the Bible
(00:26:26)
and a lot of world religions talk a lot
(00:26:28)
about fasting obviously for spiritual
(00:26:29)
breakthrough but for the health
(00:26:30)
breakthroughs. There's so much
(00:26:32)
scientific literature and this
(00:26:33)
historical evidence on on the benefits
(00:26:35)
there.
(00:26:36)
>> That's why it's been used for centuries.
(00:26:38)
>> Yeah.
(00:26:38)
>> For uh to help stimulate healing in the
(00:26:41)
body and that's why it works. The body
(00:26:43)
doesn't have to digest now. Let's do
(00:26:45)
something else. Let's go to areas that
(00:26:49)
uh that need need help.
(00:26:50)
>> Yeah. It can repair. It can regenerate.
(00:26:52)
Now I want to mention this. You
(00:26:53)
mentioned statin drugs earlier.
(00:26:56)
We often call the gut the second brain.
(00:26:59)
So most people know this. Statin drugs
(00:27:01)
cause uh your brain is made up of about
(00:27:04)
25% cholesterol. It's a lot of fat. So
(00:27:07)
when you're doing these statin drugs,
(00:27:09)
you are deminating. You are destroying
(00:27:11)
your entire nervous system. Well, half
(00:27:12)
your nerve a big part of your nervous
(00:27:14)
system is in your gut. So that's another
(00:27:15)
thing with these statin drugs are
(00:27:17)
destroying the body in such a massive
(00:27:19)
and and there's not a single drug that
(00:27:22)
doesn't cause a depletion in the body of
(00:27:25)
a vitamin or nutrient and they don't
(00:27:26)
even put those side effects on the
(00:27:27)
labels.
(00:27:27)
>> That's true. That's true. You see drugs
(00:27:30)
never cure disease.
(00:27:31)
>> And some might say, well Barbara, can
(00:27:33)
you really say never? You can say never
(00:27:36)
because
(00:27:37)
>> they only mask symptoms. It's the body
(00:27:39)
and the body alone is the only the only
(00:27:43)
thing that has the capacity to heal. Now
(00:27:47)
>> water treatments work with the body.
(00:27:49)
Herbs work with the body but it's the
(00:27:51)
body that does the healing but it will
(00:27:53)
heal when you give the right conditions.
(00:27:55)
And unfortunately the drugs they don't
(00:27:57)
work with the body. They mask the
(00:27:59)
symptoms. And so the people think oh
(00:28:02)
this is helping because I don't have a
(00:28:04)
headache anymore. I don't have a bad
(00:28:06)
rash anymore. But they don't realize
(00:28:08)
they've just pushed it further in the
(00:28:10)
body. It's going to come out again.
(00:28:11)
>> That's right. Yeah. I think one thing
(00:28:13)
people don't realize to to your point is
(00:28:14)
is that drugs essentially are forcing
(00:28:17)
your body to do actually something it
(00:28:19)
doesn't want to do. It's forcing it.
(00:28:20)
Vitamins, minerals, herbals, herbals are
(00:28:23)
changing your environment. Vitamins and
(00:28:25)
minerals are giving your body just the
(00:28:27)
tools it needs to heal itself. Yeah. I I
(00:28:29)
I uh I was really blessed to learn this
(00:28:31)
principle. Food doesn't actually heal
(00:28:33)
you. Broccoli, turmeric, none of it
(00:28:35)
heals you. your body heals itself.
(00:28:38)
>> Change the environment. And you did such
(00:28:39)
a great job of teaching that. I want to
(00:28:41)
>> right before we started, you shared
(00:28:43)
something with me which I just loved and
(00:28:44)
I want to get into this. Um, you
(00:28:46)
delivered
(00:28:47)
>> one of your own babies yourself.
(00:28:50)
>> Okay, that's amazing. We did with my
(00:28:52)
wife, my wife Chelsea, we did two at
(00:28:54)
home birth in the in the tub. The most
(00:28:56)
amazing spiritual experience of our
(00:28:58)
lives.
(00:28:59)
>> It is. Talk to me about fertility,
(00:29:02)
birth, home birth, and your experience
(00:29:04)
there and also delivering your own baby
(00:29:06)
at home.
(00:29:07)
>> Well, it it uh it is
(00:29:11)
it challenges me that what they've done
(00:29:14)
with birthing today.
(00:29:16)
>> So, I read a book called The Midwife of
(00:29:18)
Oswed. She's a Polish woman in her 50s
(00:29:22)
in Oswitch. She delivered 3,000 babies
(00:29:25)
in two years. Didn't lose a baby.
(00:29:27)
>> Wow. Now, let's look at that. These
(00:29:30)
women are the in the most terrible
(00:29:32)
conditions. They're malnourished,
(00:29:36)
spiritually, emotionally, mentally
(00:29:38)
traumatized. She never lost a baby. So,
(00:29:40)
you know what I say? What's happening in
(00:29:42)
our hospitals?
(00:29:43)
>> What's happening that we've got such a
(00:29:46)
high death rate in our hospitals? It's
(00:29:48)
intervention.
(00:29:49)
>> Yeah.
(00:29:49)
>> So, my my babies, I had several babies
(00:29:52)
at home and it was such an incredible
(00:29:55)
experience. You've experienced it
(00:29:56)
yourself. there there's nothing like it.
(00:29:59)
So with my fifth child, they they
(00:30:02)
checked me and they said, "You've got a
(00:30:04)
while to go." So I decided to start
(00:30:06)
marching around the room. And 7 minutes
(00:30:08)
later, I had another contraction and I
(00:30:11)
could feel pushing the back of my
(00:30:14)
throat, you know, that to push. And I
(00:30:16)
thought, "What's going on?" And I felt
(00:30:18)
down and I could feel the head. And so I
(00:30:21)
started panting. Started panting because
(00:30:23)
my babies just come too fast. I knew
(00:30:25)
that from my home births. No one was in
(00:30:28)
the room except my husband. And I'm
(00:30:30)
panting and he's tapping me saying, "You
(00:30:32)
shouldn't be panting yet." And I'm I
(00:30:34)
[laughter] couldn't tell him. And you
(00:30:36)
know what? I was confronted with the
(00:30:38)
fact I got to do this myself.
(00:30:39)
>> Yeah. Wow.
(00:30:40)
>> So what I did is as I panted, the head
(00:30:42)
would go back. As I didn't pant, the
(00:30:44)
head had pushed. So I just panted,
(00:30:47)
massaged like I'd seen the midwives do
(00:30:50)
it, and the head fell into my hand.
(00:30:52)
>> Oh my goodness. Wow. And I said, "The
(00:30:55)
head?" [laughter]
(00:30:56)
And he he'd jot around and oh, I'm
(00:31:00)
sitting there with a head. And then a
(00:31:02)
nurse's aid with a mop and bucket came
(00:31:05)
into the room, saw me sitting there with
(00:31:07)
the head. The mop and bucket went
(00:31:09)
flying. She went running. People came
(00:31:11)
from everywhere. It was a tiny little
(00:31:14)
country hospital cuz I went into labor
(00:31:16)
early. So I I went into there. My
(00:31:18)
midwife's in Sydney. [gasps] And they
(00:31:21)
came into the room. They looked at me,
(00:31:22)
looked at me with their head, and they
(00:31:24)
said, "Uh, can we check if the cords
(00:31:27)
around the neck?" And I said, "Yes."
(00:31:30)
And [laughter] they checked, "You're
(00:31:31)
fine." And then I got my next
(00:31:33)
contraction. And she went to take the
(00:31:35)
baby. And I said,
(00:31:37)
>> "I'll take the baby."
(00:31:38)
>> Yeah.
(00:31:38)
>> Cuz the the head's the hardest. And that
(00:31:41)
baby the head just goes the rest of the
(00:31:43)
body.
(00:31:44)
>> Yeah.
(00:31:44)
>> And I just pulled that baby up and I
(00:31:47)
thought, [sighs]
(00:31:48)
>> "Praise be to God. Why don't that women
(00:31:51)
do this? But I think women are fearful.
(00:31:55)
>> Yeah.
(00:31:56)
>> They're so fearful. It's time to to know
(00:31:59)
your body, to work with your body, to
(00:32:02)
know that your body can do it.
(00:32:04)
>> You know, I think so much of it comes
(00:32:05)
with this thing where we've sort of made
(00:32:08)
the medical system and doctors, they've
(00:32:10)
sort of replaced God in a way in the
(00:32:13)
minds of a lot of people. I think for a
(00:32:14)
lot of people they uh they have this,
(00:32:18)
you know, the Bible says in the Psalms,
(00:32:21)
you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
(00:32:23)
>> That's right.
(00:32:24)
>> And I think a lot of people have sort of
(00:32:25)
lost that that idea that science or this
(00:32:28)
this this idea of science is sort of
(00:32:30)
again replaces God and it constantly is
(00:32:33)
violating God's design.
(00:32:35)
>> It is you will love Psalm 146:3. It
(00:32:39)
says, "Put not your trust in princes,
(00:32:41)
neither in the Son of Man, in whom there
(00:32:43)
is no help." So, who are the princes?
(00:32:45)
They're the authorities in the field,
(00:32:46)
the authorities in government, the
(00:32:48)
authorities in medicine, the authorities
(00:32:49)
in nutrition. What has the Bible said?
(00:32:52)
Put not your trust in princes, neither
(00:32:54)
in the Son of Man in whom there's no
(00:32:56)
health. His breath goes forth. He
(00:32:58)
returns under his earth. In that very
(00:32:59)
day, his thoughts perish. In other
(00:33:01)
words, he's just a man. But verse five
(00:33:03)
says, "Happy is the happy is he that has
(00:33:06)
the God of Jacob as his help, whose hope
(00:33:08)
is in the Lord his God that made heaven,
(00:33:10)
earth, sea, and all that in them is
(00:33:13)
that's us and keeps truth forever."
(00:33:16)
>> It's amazing.
(00:33:16)
>> Isn't that a beautiful verse? So, it's
(00:33:18)
actually a challenge to us people. Stop
(00:33:21)
putting so much faith and trust in the
(00:33:25)
doctor. It doesn't mean you don't go.
(00:33:27)
You don't go doesn't mean you you don't
(00:33:29)
go anywhere near them. might go and you
(00:33:30)
might get their advice, but you know
(00:33:32)
what you say.
(00:33:33)
>> Thank you so much for your opinion
(00:33:36)
>> cuz actually that's what it is. You're
(00:33:38)
gracious. The Bible says in Colossians
(00:33:40)
4:6, "Let your speech be always with
(00:33:43)
grace, seasoned with salt that you may
(00:33:45)
know how your order answer every man."
(00:33:48)
You say, "Thank you so much for your
(00:33:49)
advice. I'll seriously consider this."
(00:33:51)
And you leave. And you do consider it
(00:33:54)
because second Timothy 1:7 the Bible
(00:33:57)
says
(00:33:58)
>> that that God has not given us the
(00:34:01)
spirit of fear
(00:34:03)
>> but of power. That's right.
(00:34:04)
>> What's power? Knowledge, but of power,
(00:34:07)
love, and a sound mind. And a sound mind
(00:34:09)
weighs up the pros and cons. But if a
(00:34:12)
person's been told, you've got cancer,
(00:34:14)
you've got to do this immediately.
(00:34:15)
That's shocking news.
(00:34:16)
>> That's right.
(00:34:18)
>> Please have the courage to say, thank
(00:34:19)
you so much for your opinion.
(00:34:22)
I'll get back to you and you leave.
(00:34:24)
>> You know, we we've got into and I I've
(00:34:26)
I've seen this so often it sort of
(00:34:28)
shocks me. Uh you know, there are
(00:34:30)
statistics around once 5:00 rolls
(00:34:33)
around, the amount of C-sections that
(00:34:35)
happen go up dramatically. The amount of
(00:34:37)
C-sections now that are being scheduled
(00:34:38)
months out is crazy. I've had doctors,
(00:34:42)
not have it once, I've heard this 10
(00:34:43)
times where women have told me, "Well,
(00:34:46)
the doctor told me that I have a small
(00:34:47)
body and that my hips are too small, so
(00:34:50)
I have to have a C-section before they
(00:34:52)
even try." I mean, that's
(00:34:54)
>> Look how tiny I am. I gave birth to a 10
(00:34:56)
pound baby.
(00:34:57)
>> Yeah. Wow. Yeah.
(00:34:58)
>> You see, see, and that's where squatting
(00:35:00)
is great for women. It just it
(00:35:02)
>> Let's use Exactly. Let's use gravity
(00:35:05)
now. Fight against gravity. And I tell
(00:35:07)
you something, I've been told far too
(00:35:09)
many times. And this was told me just a
(00:35:11)
few days ago. Had a scan, the doctor
(00:35:14)
said there's water around half the
(00:35:16)
baby's heart. Had another scan a month
(00:35:17)
later, now there's water around both the
(00:35:19)
hearts. Have to go in immediately and
(00:35:21)
have a a and and give birth to the baby.
(00:35:24)
And the woman's um 35 weeks. Oh. Have to
(00:35:29)
do a C-section.
(00:35:31)
Then they scan the heart after the
(00:35:33)
birth. They don't see very much at all.
(00:35:36)
Yeah.
(00:35:37)
>> That So, a lady emailed me. She said,
(00:35:40)
"Barbara, I've just had a scan. I'm 35
(00:35:42)
weeks. They say that my baby's too
(00:35:44)
small. The placenta's breaking down."
(00:35:46)
[gasps] I said, "I believe it."
(00:35:50)
Now, when I say that, that challenges
(00:35:52)
many people. I said, "You know what a
(00:35:53)
scan is? It's just sound waves coming
(00:35:55)
back." I said, "It could be wrong. If I
(00:35:59)
were you, I would not go back. I would
(00:36:01)
enjoy your last few weeks of of labor.
(00:36:05)
You feel good? Yeah. Baby's moving.
(00:36:07)
Yeah.
(00:36:08)
>> She went into labor at about 39 weeks,
(00:36:12)
gave birth naturally. Baby was perfect.
(00:36:15)
Placenta was perfect.
(00:36:17)
>> Yeah. So, I'm almost at the stage where
(00:36:20)
I say to women, I can't tell you what to
(00:36:22)
do, but if I was you, I would not have
(00:36:24)
scans.
(00:36:25)
>> Yeah.
(00:36:26)
>> Cuz what it does, it puts fear into the
(00:36:28)
woman.
(00:36:28)
>> That's right. And then a scan later. Oh,
(00:36:30)
actually we can't see it this time.
(00:36:35)
That mother needs peace, calm, and
(00:36:38)
happiness through her pregnancy.
(00:36:40)
>> Yeah. It's so important. Well, one of
(00:36:41)
the things that I I I tell the patients
(00:36:44)
I work with that are dealing with
(00:36:45)
infertility. I I I tell the women, I
(00:36:47)
said, "Here is the state we need to get
(00:36:49)
you into because I think a lot of
(00:36:50)
infertility is can be driven through
(00:36:53)
unhealthy emotions, not feeling safe and
(00:36:55)
secure." And I tell them, I said, "This
(00:36:56)
is how I want you to feel. I want you to
(00:36:58)
think about your favorite couch. You're
(00:37:00)
bundled up with a blanket. You've got
(00:37:02)
your favorite, you know, uh, beverage.
(00:37:04)
Maybe it's a hot cup of hot cocoa or a
(00:37:07)
coffee. You got your family there,
(00:37:08)
Christmas tree, fire, and you feel safe,
(00:37:10)
secure, warm. I'm like, that's the
(00:37:12)
emotional state we need to get you into.
(00:37:14)
But but but you're what you're saying is
(00:37:15)
like the medical system today rather
(00:37:17)
than doing that, it's stripping away
(00:37:20)
hope. It's putting in fear. We know that
(00:37:22)
that causes the body to sort of lock and
(00:37:24)
tighten up. And I see that I think a lot
(00:37:26)
of times sort of interfering with that
(00:37:27)
whole birth.
(00:37:28)
>> And a woman goes home, she's just been
(00:37:30)
told they think they see something in
(00:37:32)
the baby's kidney. She goes home, she's
(00:37:34)
crying all the way home. They say,
(00:37:36)
"We'll scan again in a month." What's
(00:37:38)
that next month like for her?
(00:37:40)
>> So if they contact me, you know what I
(00:37:42)
say? I don't believe them.
(00:37:44)
>> That's right.
(00:37:44)
>> And I said, "And even if there's
(00:37:45)
something there, what are they going to
(00:37:47)
do?"
(00:37:48)
>> Yeah. There's there's no interventions
(00:37:50)
that they have that that work. No. and
(00:37:53)
sometimes they get it wrong.
(00:37:57)
>> Do you have unexplainable illness,
(00:37:59)
hormone dysfunction, weight loss
(00:38:01)
resistance, brain fog, and you're tired
(00:38:03)
of being dismissed when you know
(00:38:06)
something isn't right? Well, get my
(00:38:07)
at-ome testing of targeted biomarkers,
(00:38:10)
including hormones, thyroid, and
(00:38:12)
metabolism, plus a full hour with one of
(00:38:15)
my senior health adviserss to help you
(00:38:17)
understand your results. The truth is,
(00:38:19)
your doctor's probably reading your
(00:38:21)
blood work all wrong. They're missing
(00:38:23)
the cellular issues behind the symptoms.
(00:38:25)
This new testing flips the script. The
(00:38:28)
future of interpreting test results is
(00:38:30)
here. I'm currently offering a simple
(00:38:32)
at-ome blood test that actually tests
(00:38:35)
for the right things. And just as
(00:38:37)
importantly, it comes with proper
(00:38:39)
interpretation of your results. If you
(00:38:42)
want to check it out and grab one before
(00:38:44)
they're gone, just go to
(00:38:45)
mybloodwork.com.
(00:38:47)
Now,
(00:38:49)
we've talked about women's hormones.
(00:38:52)
We've talked about and and and I I do I
(00:38:54)
do want to say just for everybody, um if
(00:38:56)
you have not done a home birth, if you
(00:38:59)
are at the age where you could do it in
(00:39:00)
the future, it is the most incredible
(00:39:03)
experience, supernatural, amazing, um
(00:39:06)
thing. So, definitely definitely
(00:39:08)
consider that. You don't have to deliver
(00:39:09)
your own baby. We'll leave that up to
(00:39:11)
Barbara. But, but uh getting a good
(00:39:13)
midwife is amazing. Like we had a we had
(00:39:15)
a midwife we worked with. She's done
(00:39:17)
well over a thousand bursts and woman in
(00:39:20)
her 60s now. Um and she's just
(00:39:22)
absolutely amazing. Had the best
(00:39:23)
experience. And um and and my so my wife
(00:39:26)
doesn't she never wants to bother
(00:39:28)
anybody. So like we almost had to
(00:39:30)
deliver the baby because I'm looking at
(00:39:32)
her contraction. I'm like, "Are you
(00:39:33)
keeping track of time anymore?" She's
(00:39:35)
like, "Well, no, I lost track." And then
(00:39:37)
30 minutes later, the baby was here. So
(00:39:39)
anyways, but having a great midwife's
(00:39:40)
amazing. Um we talked about women's
(00:39:42)
hormones. I want to talk about men's
(00:39:44)
hormones as well. We are seeing now more
(00:39:46)
than ever before male testosterone just
(00:39:49)
plummeting. I want to say over the last
(00:39:50)
50 years, male testosterone has dropped
(00:39:53)
by 33%. In some areas of the country, if
(00:39:56)
you're comparing, it's over 50%. And so
(00:40:00)
we're seeing men now contributing to a
(00:40:03)
lot of the infertility issues. That's
(00:40:05)
true. What do you think the root cause
(00:40:07)
of that is? And what are some things men
(00:40:08)
can start to do?
(00:40:09)
>> I think it's the same root cause as with
(00:40:11)
women.
(00:40:13)
mother hormones been displaced. And I
(00:40:15)
think it's really nice to picture it
(00:40:17)
like this. Mother hormone progesterone,
(00:40:20)
she's very protective of her son
(00:40:22)
testosterone.
(00:40:24)
>> So when mother hormone is where she
(00:40:26)
should be, she plays a protective role
(00:40:28)
on testosterone, keeping it in the
(00:40:31)
balance that it should be. And so all
(00:40:33)
those environmental poisons we talked
(00:40:35)
about, if a if a man if his mother was
(00:40:38)
on the pill before she gave birth to
(00:40:40)
him, there's a factor coming through
(00:40:42)
there. Um, another factor too, not often
(00:40:46)
talked about is laptops on the lap.
(00:40:49)
>> So I say protect the family jewels. Men
(00:40:52)
and women, don't put your laptop on your
(00:40:55)
lap.
(00:40:55)
>> The phones in your pocket.
(00:40:58)
Yeah. So there and it's not the odd day
(00:41:00)
it happens. is it's it's day after day
(00:41:02)
after day after day. So these are all
(00:41:05)
contributing factors, but it's actually
(00:41:07)
the same as with women. We got to
(00:41:10)
reinstate mother hormone and that's
(00:41:13)
where the wild yam cream, it does that.
(00:41:16)
So whether man or woman, they can apply
(00:41:19)
that yam cream. But we had a man come
(00:41:21)
with um prostate cancer.
(00:41:24)
>> Yeah.
(00:41:25)
>> He was having a threemonly injection to
(00:41:27)
try and get his testosterone levels
(00:41:29)
right. He developed breasts. He was
(00:41:32)
getting hot flushes.
(00:41:34)
>> Wow.
(00:41:35)
>> So, at the at our retreat, he learned
(00:41:37)
about the yam cream
(00:41:39)
>> and he made the decision not to go and
(00:41:41)
have that three monthly injection
(00:41:42)
anymore. He made the decision to start
(00:41:44)
applying that yam cream twice a day. Men
(00:41:48)
don't have a break like women cuz
(00:41:49)
they're not cyclic. Women apply it twice
(00:41:52)
a day, three weeks a month. Men apply it
(00:41:54)
every day. Twice a day. He stopped his
(00:41:57)
nightly red wine, stopped his coffee,
(00:41:59)
started to go more plant-based,
(00:42:01)
exercise, so all of the basic laws of
(00:42:04)
health.
(00:42:05)
We got an email 10 months later, breasts
(00:42:09)
have gone down, hot flashes have
(00:42:11)
stopped, testosterone levels are the
(00:42:13)
best they've been for years.
(00:42:14)
>> That's so great. [laughter] I love
(00:42:15)
hearing that. You know, I actually had
(00:42:17)
not heard that before. I I what my uh in
(00:42:20)
my training um and looking at Chinese
(00:42:22)
medicine and some other things uh what
(00:42:24)
we would tend to do is go more directly
(00:42:25)
at testosterone and so I would do panics
(00:42:28)
jens singh fenugreek
(00:42:30)
um more weightlifting I mean some of
(00:42:32)
those things but but I like your point
(00:42:34)
and this is something I I really
(00:42:36)
appreciate about you is we want to
(00:42:37)
always go to the root of all roots you
(00:42:40)
know I see cortisol being another
(00:42:41)
hormone that's the root of all roots
(00:42:43)
it's like to your point cortisol goes up
(00:42:45)
>> insulin goes up now estrogen can't be
(00:42:48)
detoxified by the liver when that
(00:42:50)
happens. So then T4 can't be converted
(00:42:52)
to T3. So this whole hormonal pathway,
(00:42:55)
but I that's a that that's that's great
(00:42:57)
wisdom and that's something I'm going to
(00:42:58)
start using more frequently and testing
(00:43:00)
with patients is doing more of the
(00:43:01)
progesterone increasing in men because
(00:43:04)
I've done it in women a lot but but not
(00:43:06)
as frequently with men.
(00:43:07)
>> Yeah. In in fact great for prostate um
(00:43:10)
great for low sperm count but also
(00:43:12)
penile dysfunction. And I don't know how
(00:43:15)
else to say this, but one man said to
(00:43:17)
me, "This cream just puts lead in my
(00:43:19)
pencil." [laughter] He said, "I'm not
(00:43:22)
performing like I was when I was 20, but
(00:43:24)
I'm better than I was." So, in all of
(00:43:27)
those areas, the the yam cream can yes,
(00:43:30)
definitely help help men. And Cheryl
(00:43:33)
Selman in her book, Hormone Heresy, she
(00:43:36)
explains it like this. She said, "Men
(00:43:37)
are like the sun. They rise every
(00:43:39)
morning, conquer the day, go down every
(00:43:41)
night, but women are like the moon.
(00:43:43)
Sometimes they're full, sometimes
(00:43:45)
they're half, sometimes they're a
(00:43:46)
slither. So women are more cyclic, so
(00:43:49)
they have one week a month off.
(00:43:52)
>> Isn't it amazing how I I mean what you
(00:43:54)
just said there, I think I think God
(00:43:57)
teaches us with nature, you know, like I
(00:44:00)
mean literally the sun is like a male
(00:44:02)
cycle. The moon is a woman's cycle every
(00:44:05)
28, 30 day. I mean that same exact same
(00:44:08)
cycle.
(00:44:09)
>> It's amazing. You know, I've always
(00:44:10)
appreciated one of the things that uh uh
(00:44:13)
I've taught and I think I've heard you
(00:44:14)
talk about this as well is this. You
(00:44:16)
know, you you can often know how to heal
(00:44:18)
an organ by by or what foods to eat for
(00:44:21)
the organ based on the appearance of the
(00:44:22)
organ, right? Like a walnut looks like a
(00:44:23)
hemisphere, the brain. Tomatoes have
(00:44:25)
four chambers and they're red. So does
(00:44:27)
your heart. You know, beets look like
(00:44:28)
blood. And so I think
(00:44:30)
>> so like the fea
(00:44:32)
>> your bones, right? Exactly. It's amazing
(00:44:33)
for, you know, keeping you from losing
(00:44:35)
minerals. So I I I if there's one thing
(00:44:39)
that I really would love people to walk
(00:44:41)
away with is that I want them to
(00:44:43)
understand that God is for you, not
(00:44:46)
against you. You're fearfully and
(00:44:47)
wonderfully made and that there are all
(00:44:49)
of these things in nature that are so
(00:44:51)
powerful. I did want to ask you about
(00:44:52)
hormone replacement therapy and your
(00:44:55)
views on that.
(00:44:57)
>> My views on that are I'm not in
(00:44:59)
agreeance with it because I'm not in
(00:45:01)
agreeance with using synthetic hormones.
(00:45:04)
So if a woman is on hormone replacement
(00:45:06)
therapy, and I have to tell you, I have
(00:45:08)
had several women testify that six years
(00:45:11)
after being on hormone replacement
(00:45:13)
therapy, they developed breast cancer.
(00:45:16)
>> I've seen it.
(00:45:16)
>> So yes, you've seen it yourself. So I'm
(00:45:19)
not in agreeance with it because it
(00:45:20)
further disrupts the hormones. So if a
(00:45:23)
woman's on hormone replacement therapy,
(00:45:25)
my suggestion is well what what I would
(00:45:28)
do, I would stop, but the day I stop, I
(00:45:31)
would start applying the yam cream. So
(00:45:35)
we have a yam cream that we sell here in
(00:45:37)
the UK. My daughters make it in
(00:45:38)
Tasmania. It's called treoon.
(00:45:41)
>> So it's about three t meaning three lun
(00:45:44)
the lunar cycle. And I remember when my
(00:45:47)
husband saw that he said, "Oh, this is a
(00:45:49)
terrible name. It needs to be Ruth's
(00:45:52)
that yam cream or Mary's yam cream that
(00:45:55)
my daughter's
(00:45:56)
>> yam cream of course
(00:45:57)
>> my my daughters say no treoon [laughter]
(00:46:00)
and referring to the to the lunar cycle.
(00:46:04)
So men or women do very well with it.
(00:46:07)
One lady said I it didn't work. I said
(00:46:10)
how long do you try it for? She said two
(00:46:12)
months. I said well this is what's
(00:46:14)
happening after two months. Here's this
(00:46:17)
is estrogen which should be down there.
(00:46:19)
Here's progesterone. That should be up
(00:46:21)
there. And after 2 months, we're about
(00:46:23)
here.
(00:46:24)
>> What we want, we want the mother hormone
(00:46:27)
back. How long will it take? Well, we've
(00:46:29)
got a saying in Australian, how long's a
(00:46:31)
piece of string? It could be an inch
(00:46:34)
longer. It could be
(00:46:35)
>> mile long.
(00:46:36)
>> Mile long.
(00:46:37)
>> So, it depends on We've I've seen three
(00:46:40)
generations of women with it out. Now,
(00:46:42)
it's not going to take three generations
(00:46:44)
to get back. In fact, it's not going to
(00:46:46)
take 20 years to get back, but it might
(00:46:48)
take a year.
(00:46:49)
>> Yeah.
(00:46:50)
>> And and this is where time and the Bible
(00:46:53)
has a beautiful section in Hebrews on
(00:46:55)
time. He It's Hebrews 10:35. It says,
(00:46:59)
"Cast not away, therefore, thy
(00:47:01)
confidence in the which is great
(00:47:02)
recompense of reward, for ye have need
(00:47:05)
of patience." Yeah.
(00:47:07)
>> In that after you have done the will of
(00:47:09)
God, you might receive the promise. for
(00:47:11)
yet a little while, and he that shall
(00:47:13)
come or will come, he shall come. But
(00:47:16)
the just shall live by faith. But if any
(00:47:19)
man draw back, my soul shall have no
(00:47:21)
pleasure in him. But we are not of them
(00:47:23)
that draw back under pition, but of them
(00:47:25)
that believing in the saving of the
(00:47:27)
soul. Now I add something to that, but
(00:47:29)
to them that believing in the saving or
(00:47:31)
the healing of the body. So don't cast
(00:47:34)
your confidence away. Have confidence in
(00:47:37)
God. confidence in this body that he
(00:47:40)
gave us, but ye have need of patience.
(00:47:43)
>> You know, a lot of these uh sort of
(00:47:45)
ancient uh sages would always say that
(00:47:48)
the partner of wisdom, the greatest
(00:47:50)
partner is patience. I mean, it's so
(00:47:51)
it's it's
(00:47:52)
>> it's it's part of being wise. It's part
(00:47:54)
of doing the right thing.
(00:47:55)
>> That's right. Yeah. We don't get sick
(00:47:57)
overnight. We don't heal overnight. And
(00:47:59)
that's another problem with medicine
(00:48:01)
today. Quick fixes.
(00:48:02)
>> That's right. And and that's that's
(00:48:04)
that's what we're trained to be. And
(00:48:05)
social media's made it worse. everything
(00:48:07)
else we want every we order food I mean
(00:48:09)
everything we want to see instantly but
(00:48:12)
it's typically not the best way you know
(00:48:13)
I was reading proverbs here uh this last
(00:48:16)
week and the one really struck to me it
(00:48:18)
basically said this wealth that comes
(00:48:20)
quickly
(00:48:21)
>> will not last wealth that comes built
(00:48:23)
over time will last
(00:48:25)
>> and and I think that's so true you know
(00:48:28)
um one of the things I have studied and
(00:48:31)
understood in what you're sharing with
(00:48:33)
hormone replacement therapy and this is
(00:48:35)
the ancient Asian view but is that when
(00:48:38)
you start taking synthetic hormones from
(00:48:40)
the outside in,
(00:48:41)
>> your body starts turning off its own
(00:48:43)
tap.
(00:48:44)
>> Yes.
(00:48:44)
>> So it stops producing progesterone,
(00:48:46)
stops producing estrogen itself. And
(00:48:48)
then in Chinese medicine, they would
(00:48:49)
call that a chi deficiency in a certain
(00:48:51)
organ. So now you have lack of blood
(00:48:53)
flow, lack of movement in that area
(00:48:55)
because now your body, think about your
(00:48:56)
body is like it's got a spring inside of
(00:48:58)
it. you're turning the your own natural
(00:49:01)
spring off versus what you teach is no,
(00:49:04)
listen, we're going to we're going to
(00:49:06)
open that spring up so water is just
(00:49:08)
flooding out. And your points with doing
(00:49:10)
the, you know, the yam cream and some of
(00:49:12)
these other other therapies, I think, is
(00:49:15)
is we want to work with the body, not
(00:49:18)
against the body. I see men now getting
(00:49:20)
on testosterone therapy in their 20s and
(00:49:23)
30s, and then, you know, some of them
(00:49:24)
saying, "Well, I want to have a family
(00:49:26)
one day." And I'm I'm sitting there
(00:49:27)
thinking, you're increasing your rate of
(00:49:29)
infertility dramatically.
(00:49:31)
>> Dramatically.
(00:49:32)
>> Yeah. And so I I I love what you're
(00:49:34)
teaching. I think so often people um are
(00:49:38)
running to hormone replacement therapy
(00:49:39)
rather than doing all the right things.
(00:49:40)
It's like if you follow the right diet
(00:49:42)
and do these ancient remedies you've
(00:49:44)
talked about, I found that 99% of the
(00:49:46)
time people heal, people get well.
(00:49:48)
>> They do. And and there's always a
(00:49:50)
consequence. That's right.
(00:49:51)
>> You know, that's Newton's third law of
(00:49:52)
motion. To every action there's an equal
(00:49:54)
and an opposite reaction. And Proverbs
(00:49:57)
26:2, it says, "The curse causeless
(00:49:59)
shall not come."
(00:50:01)
>> So there's always a cause. And the
(00:50:03)
cause, see, I've got a I think there a
(00:50:06)
dent in my cheek. You know what that
(00:50:08)
dent's from? I crashed on my bicycle on
(00:50:12)
the bridge. Real easy. Cause of dent
(00:50:15)
crash.
(00:50:16)
>> Yeah.
(00:50:16)
>> But it's not usually that easy.
(00:50:18)
>> Yeah. It can be a little bit of this and
(00:50:20)
a little bit of that and that happened
(00:50:21)
and this happened and this happened and
(00:50:23)
this has been happening for a while and
(00:50:25)
it's like the straw that breaks the
(00:50:26)
camel's back. A piece of straw cannot
(00:50:28)
break a camel's back but on top of
(00:50:30)
everything else it can tip the scales.
(00:50:32)
That's right.
(00:50:33)
>> And that's what often you see.
(00:50:35)
>> And because the person's suddenly gone
(00:50:38)
down, they want to suddenly get better,
(00:50:40)
but they don't realize that it's
(00:50:43)
actually all of those things that have
(00:50:44)
been happening for many years that have
(00:50:46)
contributed to this. Yeah. Yeah. That
(00:50:48)
there are a lot of these mistakes we can
(00:50:51)
make. I mean, you've talked about
(00:50:53)
plastic bottles, bisphenol, a
(00:50:55)
glyphosate, a lot of these things that
(00:50:56)
add up. What What do you think are maybe
(00:50:59)
three or so of the biggest mistakes
(00:51:01)
people are making that they're just
(00:51:02)
totally unaware of that's really harming
(00:51:04)
their health?
(00:51:06)
>> I think a really big mistake is thinking
(00:51:08)
that coffee and tea are hydrating them.
(00:51:11)
>> So, every morning when we go to the
(00:51:12)
hotel to have breakfast, they say, "Will
(00:51:14)
you have tea or coffee?" No. They look
(00:51:17)
at you as if you're strange and they put
(00:51:21)
our cup upside down because I would say
(00:51:24)
we are probably the only ones there not
(00:51:27)
having tea or coffee. Well, what will
(00:51:29)
you have to drink? Well, we've we've
(00:51:30)
already drank a lot of water. So, that
(00:51:32)
misconception that tea and coffee are
(00:51:34)
hydrating. They're actually dehydrating
(00:51:36)
you. If you are dehydrated and you drink
(00:51:39)
a cup of coffee, you'll be more
(00:51:41)
dehydrated after that because ca coffee
(00:51:45)
has caffeine which is a dehydrator. You
(00:51:48)
put sugar in that, another dehydrator.
(00:51:50)
You drink tea, not as much caffeine but
(00:51:52)
it's got tannin, another dehydrator.
(00:51:55)
>> Wow.
(00:51:56)
>> So that's that's a real misconception.
(00:51:58)
Another misconception is uh exercise is
(00:52:01)
for children.
(00:52:04)
>> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah.
(00:52:04)
>> We should never stop. Never stop.
(00:52:07)
Stagnant pools breed disease and
(00:52:10)
stagnant bodies. That's a big disease.
(00:52:13)
Producer is the body's just not moving.
(00:52:17)
We need to move every day. Muscle knows
(00:52:19)
no age. Whether you're nine or 90, you
(00:52:22)
can have strong muscles. So, that's
(00:52:24)
another misconception.
(00:52:28)
>> And the other misconception is it
(00:52:30)
doesn't matter if you don't go to bed
(00:52:31)
till midnight.
(00:52:33)
>> This [laughter] is a good one. I like
(00:52:35)
this one.
(00:52:37)
And when you understand what happens in
(00:52:39)
your brain at night, you're as a British
(00:52:41)
neurologist named Dr. Matthew Walker. He
(00:52:44)
wrote a book, Why We Sleep. And at the
(00:52:46)
end of it, he said, "I did not like what
(00:52:48)
I found." Because I was hoping the
(00:52:52)
research would show 6 hours is all
(00:52:54)
right. No, no, eight. Must be eight.
(00:52:57)
That's right.
(00:52:57)
>> And also catching at least two hours
(00:53:00)
before midnight.
(00:53:01)
>> Yeah. Yeah. It's so powerful. And I I
(00:53:03)
remember hearing a uh at a lecture when
(00:53:06)
I was younger, somebody say it was a it
(00:53:08)
was a a practitioner um every hour
(00:53:11)
before midnight is worth almost double.
(00:53:13)
And I thought and at first I thought is
(00:53:15)
that right? And then you know through
(00:53:18)
trial and error and realizing I'm like
(00:53:19)
absolut that's absolutely true. I'm
(00:53:21)
really blessed right now. I have a I
(00:53:22)
have a one and a halfyear-old and a
(00:53:24)
5-year-old and my 5-year-old my my wife
(00:53:27)
puts the one and a half-year-old to bed.
(00:53:28)
that I put the 5-year-old to bed. But,
(00:53:30)
uh, I'm going to bed at like 8:30 now,
(00:53:33)
which, you know, I feel so refreshed
(00:53:34)
every single morning going to bed just
(00:53:36)
after 8. But, uh, but, yeah, it's, uh,
(00:53:38)
you know, I I I absolutely agree. I
(00:53:40)
mean, I I think that's a there there was
(00:53:42)
a study that came out recently that said
(00:53:44)
on average, women are getting a little
(00:53:48)
less, like 40 minutes less of sleep a
(00:53:51)
night compared to 50, 60 years ago. And
(00:53:54)
men, it's like 30 30 minutes less. But
(00:53:57)
what people don't realize is I mean
(00:53:58)
think 40 minutes of less less sleep
(00:54:01)
>> and when when you realize the difference
(00:54:04)
between before midnight and after
(00:54:05)
midnight if if that's if they're losing
(00:54:09)
before mid midnight that you double it.
(00:54:12)
>> Yeah, that's exactly right. It's exactly
(00:54:14)
right. So it's um yeah, it's such an
(00:54:17)
important part of us regenerating when
(00:54:19)
we sleep. And so
(00:54:20)
>> it is. And if we don't get regenerated
(00:54:22)
every night, we're going to age very
(00:54:24)
quickly.
(00:54:24)
>> That's right. That's it's so right. Um,
(00:54:27)
as I mentioned earlier, um, you talk a
(00:54:30)
lot about food as medicine. You talk a
(00:54:32)
lot about herbs as medicine. Let's start
(00:54:34)
with food here. What are some of your
(00:54:36)
favorite foods that people can start
(00:54:38)
eating that act as a form of medicine
(00:54:40)
for the body?
(00:54:42)
>> Well, I know people often say to me,
(00:54:44)
"What are we going to feed you?" I said,
(00:54:45)
"Just feed me greens and beans. I love
(00:54:48)
greens and beans." And a lot of people
(00:54:50)
get put off the the beans because they
(00:54:53)
say they give the wind. Well, are they
(00:54:56)
soaked? Are they very well rinsed? Are
(00:54:59)
they prepared properly? And if they
(00:55:01)
still give wind, we got to start real
(00:55:04)
slow and slowly build the microorganisms
(00:55:07)
up in our gut for that particular
(00:55:10)
legume. Can I tell you there there is a
(00:55:12)
video online recently of I want to say
(00:55:14)
it was an Italian family and they and
(00:55:16)
they said for every meal this is a
(00:55:18)
little I thought a little it it was very
(00:55:20)
extreme but I want to say all three of
(00:55:23)
them were over 100 years old and they
(00:55:25)
all ate three bean soup for every meal.
(00:55:30)
>> So it was so so you can't live to be
(00:55:32)
over you know that was like their their
(00:55:34)
main staple. And you see the beans are
(00:55:37)
actually quite low in carbohydrates
(00:55:40)
compared to grain.
(00:55:41)
>> Very high fiber.
(00:55:42)
>> They're high fiber. They're great
(00:55:43)
proteins.
(00:55:45)
>> And the greens. The greens. The greens.
(00:55:47)
The greens are incredibly high in
(00:55:49)
minerals. And our bones are made of
(00:55:50)
minerals.
(00:55:51)
>> We need minerals.
(00:55:53)
>> Now, when you cook them, you don't lose
(00:55:55)
the minerals
(00:55:57)
>> because the minerals
(00:55:59)
are,
(00:56:00)
you know, heat doesn't destroy them.
(00:56:02)
>> It doesn't affect metal like that,
(00:56:03)
right?
(00:56:04)
>> No. That's right. You know, I um you
(00:56:07)
there there are now there's just kind of
(00:56:08)
this movement that's happened. I
(00:56:10)
literally just had this question. So, I
(00:56:11)
just, you know, got done speaking here
(00:56:13)
and right afterwards somebody came up to
(00:56:14)
me and they said, "Hey, what do you
(00:56:16)
think about lectins? What do you think
(00:56:18)
about, you know, eating vegetables?"
(00:56:21)
Because I've heard now, it's so crazy.
(00:56:23)
Can I just say like somebody was like,
(00:56:24)
"I heard that you shouldn't eat
(00:56:26)
vegetables because they're not healthy."
(00:56:28)
And I'm like there's there's like
(00:56:30)
thousands of years of like Chinese
(00:56:32)
medicine and the Bible say that's not
(00:56:34)
true.
(00:56:35)
>> It it's the test of time. I've got a
(00:56:37)
funny story about this. It was probably
(00:56:39)
about 2 years ago. Oh no, it was 2022
(00:56:42)
when I came back into Australia. I was
(00:56:44)
put into quarantine for two weeks and
(00:56:47)
someone gave me a book just before I got
(00:56:50)
on the plane. The plant paradox by Dr.
(00:56:52)
Steven
(00:56:53)
>> Gundry. And I do want to say I know
(00:56:55)
Stephen, he's a really nice guy. I
(00:56:56)
disagree with him on quite a bit.
(00:56:58)
>> And you know what was interesting? I
(00:57:00)
started to read it and he's saying the
(00:57:01)
tongue took 10 million years to develop
(00:57:03)
and the and and I just kept closing the
(00:57:06)
book thinking, "Ah, I don't want to be
(00:57:08)
bothered with this." But you know what?
(00:57:09)
I'm in a room for two weeks.
(00:57:11)
>> Yeah.
(00:57:12)
>> Can't get out. So, I kept going back to
(00:57:14)
the book. I'm so glad I read it because
(00:57:17)
I wanted to know, well, what are lectins
(00:57:19)
and why did God put them in food?
(00:57:22)
>> Protection for the
(00:57:23)
>> Now, the you you'll find lectins high in
(00:57:27)
unripe fruit.
(00:57:29)
>> And of course, the birds don't eat the
(00:57:31)
unripe fruit.
(00:57:32)
>> The prebiotics though,
(00:57:33)
>> they only eat the ripe fruit. So, when
(00:57:36)
you get the ripe pear or the ripe uh
(00:57:40)
fig,
(00:57:41)
>> yeah,
(00:57:42)
>> there's no lectins.
(00:57:43)
>> So, I thought, well, that makes sense.
(00:57:45)
It's there's a bitterness before they
(00:57:47)
ripen and that stops the birds. That
(00:57:50)
makes sense. And then well, it's in
(00:57:53)
legumes. But if you soak them and you
(00:57:57)
rinse them several times and cook them
(00:58:00)
well, especially in a pressure cooker,
(00:58:02)
disarms the lectins. What about grain?
(00:58:04)
Yes, there's lectins in grains, but if
(00:58:07)
they're made into the sourdough method,
(00:58:10)
the sourdough or the culturing process
(00:58:12)
disarms the lectins. So I thought, well,
(00:58:15)
all we have to do is cook them properly
(00:58:17)
and prepare them properly. I mean, this
(00:58:20)
is such a problem today because I've
(00:58:22)
I've seen so many people run with these
(00:58:25)
ideas of yeah,
(00:58:27)
>> you know, grains are bad. You know,
(00:58:30)
grains are it's interesting like in in
(00:58:32)
writing this this the biblio diet on the
(00:58:34)
biblical diet, the most referenced foods
(00:58:37)
in the Bible are I mean sourdough bread
(00:58:40)
is very very high up there.
(00:58:42)
>> Oh yes,
(00:58:42)
>> red meat is actually very high as part
(00:58:44)
of Solomon's provisions. vegetables.
(00:58:46)
Pomegranates are the most referenced
(00:58:48)
fruit along with figs and grapes. And so
(00:58:50)
I mean these these are all things that
(00:58:51)
are salt, honey is, you know, are
(00:58:53)
referenced. Olive oil,
(00:58:55)
>> you know, referenced so many times. But
(00:58:59)
>> olive oil huge. You
(00:59:01)
>> a man a he was a Christian and was at
(00:59:03)
church one day and he said, "You're
(00:59:05)
wrong on the oils. We shouldn't be
(00:59:07)
eating it." I said, "You need to do a
(00:59:08)
Bible study on olive oil."
(00:59:10)
>> That's right. It's in fact I mean I I I
(00:59:13)
would almost say one thing on every
(00:59:15)
almost everybody can agree on both vegan
(00:59:17)
and carn whatever almost everybody
(00:59:19)
agrees that olive oil is the best oil.
(00:59:21)
>> Oh yeah. Yeah. There's uh there's no
(00:59:24)
doubt about that. It's very important.
(00:59:26)
Something else very interesting about
(00:59:27)
lectins. If you've got good gut flora
(00:59:30)
disarms the lectins.
(00:59:31)
>> Yeah.
(00:59:32)
>> So I thought well we don't need to throw
(00:59:34)
vegetables out. We just need to ensure
(00:59:36)
good gut flora and to prepare our food
(00:59:39)
properly. like Sally Fallon in her book
(00:59:42)
Nourishing Traditions, she explores all
(00:59:45)
the traditional ways, the long slow
(00:59:47)
cooking on the wood stove, the rinsing
(00:59:50)
well, the sourdough culturing of the
(00:59:52)
grains.
(00:59:53)
>> If you prepare your food properly, no
(00:59:56)
problem with lectins. Yeah, I would say
(00:59:58)
I mean the foods that are the most
(01:00:00)
different today compared to if we're
(01:00:02)
talking about just just historically
(01:00:04)
generally the time of Jesus or even 200
(01:00:07)
years ago.
(01:00:08)
>> Bread and dairy are the most radically
(01:00:10)
different today. I mean bread today is
(01:00:12)
like white goop that turns into sugar
(01:00:16)
versus then even the way they they would
(01:00:18)
harvest it when it ripe. They would soak
(01:00:19)
it and let it sit in the sun. They would
(01:00:21)
then mill it themselves. They would and
(01:00:23)
it was an ancient grain like an iron
(01:00:24)
corn and then they would ferment it.
(01:00:26)
Like there was this great study on
(01:00:27)
ciliacs disease. So these are people
(01:00:29)
that are severely intolerant to gluten,
(01:00:33)
but if they did a fermentation sourdough
(01:00:35)
process in the study of the 17 people,
(01:00:37)
they did another one with about the same
(01:00:38)
amount of people. 0% of them had any
(01:00:41)
reaction whatever to gluten because your
(01:00:44)
point it it breaks down the lexin the
(01:00:46)
phytic acid.
(01:00:47)
>> That's what it does. It actually totally
(01:00:49)
breaks it down.
(01:00:50)
>> Yeah. So you talked about beans and
(01:00:51)
greens. That's another one. Again, it's
(01:00:53)
got a bad rep. I mean, steamed spinach
(01:00:55)
and kale, uh, bok choy, broccoli, right?
(01:00:58)
I mean, these are amazing, amazing
(01:00:59)
healing foods. I have, uh, someone I
(01:01:01)
know who had MS and she completely
(01:01:04)
reversed MS by eating only meat,
(01:01:08)
highfat, and then greens. I mean, her
(01:01:10)
biggest thing was just steamed green
(01:01:12)
vegetables. I'm curious, what are some
(01:01:15)
of the most miraculous healings you've
(01:01:17)
seen? And what were some of the foods or
(01:01:19)
things people did in order to see these
(01:01:21)
miraculous healings in their body? Where
(01:01:23)
do I start? [laughter]
(01:01:25)
>> Wherever you'd like. Wherever you'd
(01:01:27)
like.
(01:01:27)
>> Well, I think one of the most remarkable
(01:01:30)
stories because people come to our
(01:01:32)
retreat, then they go home and we don't
(01:01:34)
often hear back.
(01:01:36)
>> But this lady, Elizabeth Cotch, she had
(01:01:38)
three tumors in her abdominal area. They
(01:01:41)
wanted to start chem straight away. She
(01:01:44)
didn't like the look of the side
(01:01:45)
effects. She came to our retreat and as
(01:01:48)
I'm consulting with her, I discovered
(01:01:51)
she's a high sugar eater. You see,
(01:01:53)
cancer cells consume 15 times the
(01:01:55)
glucose of any other cell. She never
(01:01:57)
drank. She never smoked. She she was a
(01:02:00)
Christian. So people would say, "Well,
(01:02:02)
how come she got cancer?" But she ate a
(01:02:05)
lot of sugar.
(01:02:06)
>> She said, "We're Polish. We love our
(01:02:08)
desserts." In fact, in one cake about
(01:02:10)
this big, she put 16 cups of white
(01:02:12)
sugar.
(01:02:13)
>> Oh my goodness.
(01:02:14)
>> And her house was spotless, but she used
(01:02:18)
chemical cleaners. Chemical chemical
(01:02:20)
cleaners on everything. So she was also
(01:02:22)
being poisoned by the chemicals. So
(01:02:25)
anyway, we implemented the program. She
(01:02:28)
went on no fruit at all for 6 weeks. And
(01:02:32)
what that does is that designed to give
(01:02:35)
a sledgehammer effect to cancer cells
(01:02:37)
because they consume so much glucose.
(01:02:39)
Yeah.
(01:02:40)
>> We also hyperbaric chamber. Um she also
(01:02:44)
uh was taking herbs to to uh help knock
(01:02:48)
off the cancer. Went back to the doctor.
(01:02:51)
I think it was 6 months since she first
(01:02:53)
been been. And he said, "Oh, just keep
(01:02:54)
doing what you're doing."
(01:02:56)
>> Cuz all her cancer levels had come down.
(01:02:58)
All the inflammatory markers had come
(01:03:00)
down. Went back. So it was a year later,
(01:03:03)
the next visit. First tumor's gone.
(01:03:07)
>> Another year later, another tumor gone.
(01:03:09)
She said to me, "I'm I'm in my 70s now.
(01:03:12)
I feel better now than when I felt in my
(01:03:13)
40s."
(01:03:14)
>> Yeah.
(01:03:14)
>> Just an incredible story. And also
(01:03:17)
another story of a guy who was um type 1
(01:03:20)
diabetic 62. He was on medication for
(01:03:23)
all heart sugars, 90 units of insulin a
(01:03:26)
day. The doctors had basically said we
(01:03:29)
can no more for you. He came to our
(01:03:32)
retreat. He said, "I spent a million
(01:03:34)
dollars on my health in the last 10
(01:03:36)
years. Best specialists in the land and
(01:03:38)
they've just sent him home to say we can
(01:03:40)
do no more for you." Came to our
(01:03:42)
retreat. He said, "Anything you say, I
(01:03:45)
will do." And he did. [laughter]
(01:03:47)
>> Wow.
(01:03:48)
>> So implemented exercise, you know, got
(01:03:51)
the the uh high glycemic foods right
(01:03:54)
down, you know, low carbohydrate, high
(01:03:57)
fiber, great proteins, good fats. 2
(01:04:01)
weeks and he was from 90 units of
(01:04:05)
insulin a day down to 10 units of
(01:04:07)
insulin.
(01:04:07)
>> Wow, that's amazing.
(01:04:08)
>> He emailed me 3 months later. He said,
(01:04:10)
"I'm off all my medication."
(01:04:12)
>> Wow. He said, "Now, type 1 diabetic."
(01:04:15)
And we're told that can never be.
(01:04:17)
>> Yeah.
(01:04:18)
>> So, he he was incredible because he did
(01:04:21)
it.
(01:04:21)
>> Yeah.
(01:04:21)
>> And of course, that's the key. He did
(01:04:24)
it.
(01:04:24)
>> Yeah.
(01:04:24)
>> You know, the Bible says, "Be ye doers
(01:04:27)
of the word, not hearers only."
(01:04:30)
>> That's so good. That's so good. I love
(01:04:32)
that so much. U We've talked about food
(01:04:34)
is medicine. Again, greens, beans, those
(01:04:37)
are some things you've talked about that
(01:04:38)
people are can really thrive on. It
(01:04:41)
sounded like you talked about broth and
(01:04:42)
some other things in your retreat. I uh
(01:04:44)
I want to ask you about plant-based
(01:04:46)
medicine and herbals. Um this is
(01:04:48)
something that I uh didn't learn about
(01:04:50)
at all in school, but through self-study
(01:04:52)
of years and years and years, I have
(01:04:54)
become a just a such a big fan of of of
(01:04:56)
herbal medicine.
(01:04:57)
>> Yeah.
(01:04:57)
>> What are some of your favorite herbs
(01:05:00)
that you recommend pro most commonly for
(01:05:02)
for various imbalances and conditions?
(01:05:04)
>> Well, you mentioned the gut.
(01:05:06)
>> Yeah.
(01:05:06)
>> And certainly the slippery elm. We
(01:05:09)
advocate that for any diarrhea.
(01:05:12)
>> So, irritable bowel, Crohn's disease,
(01:05:14)
colitis, ulcerative colitis, all of
(01:05:16)
that. That helps an enormous amount.
(01:05:19)
>> But I also look at boosting hydrochloric
(01:05:22)
acid.
(01:05:23)
>> In fact, in my book, Self-Heal by
(01:05:25)
Design, I've got a chapter. It's called
(01:05:26)
hydrochloric acid, the stomach's
(01:05:29)
secret.
(01:05:30)
>> Wow. [laughter] Yeah. Because
(01:05:32)
hydrochloric acid is so important, it
(01:05:34)
not only um plays an important part in
(01:05:37)
breaking our protein down. So it's one
(01:05:39)
thing to eat protein, it's another thing
(01:05:41)
to break it down. So low hydrochloric
(01:05:43)
acid can can uh be responsible for not
(01:05:46)
breaking down the protein properly. Plus
(01:05:49)
it's also antibacterial,
(01:05:51)
antifungal, anti- microbial. So I look
(01:05:54)
at boosting that. We've got a great
(01:05:56)
herbal mix. It's got genten and ginger.
(01:06:01)
Yeah.
(01:06:01)
>> And dandelion and golden seal. Just a
(01:06:05)
little golden seal.
(01:06:06)
>> Wow.
(01:06:07)
>> Golden seal is one of my favorite herbs.
(01:06:09)
It's called king of tonics to all mucous
(01:06:11)
membranes.
(01:06:12)
>> I love that.
(01:06:12)
>> So, you can sniff it for sinus. You can
(01:06:15)
rinse your mouth with it. It'll help a
(01:06:18)
stomach ulcer. It'll help to heal
(01:06:20)
irritable bowel. So, we we put all those
(01:06:22)
bitter herbs in and make a tea out of
(01:06:26)
it. We gently simmer it and all the
(01:06:29)
guests that come to Misty Mountain, they
(01:06:31)
get a little cup of that hot just before
(01:06:34)
each meal because I find everyone can do
(01:06:38)
with a boost to their hydrochloric acid.
(01:06:40)
>> Well, that's so good. You know, I I uh
(01:06:42)
um I had a patient come in recently. I
(01:06:44)
was working with him and he he came in
(01:06:47)
and he had his vitamin D levels were
(01:06:49)
incredibly low on his blood work and he
(01:06:52)
was supplementing with vitamin D, lots
(01:06:54)
of it, and he still wasn't getting it.
(01:06:55)
And part of the problem was is that he
(01:06:57)
wasn't absorbing it because of bile,
(01:06:59)
right? His his liver, his panc uh his
(01:07:01)
gallbladder weren't producing enough
(01:07:03)
bile. And that's another thing people
(01:07:04)
don't know about these these bitters is
(01:07:06)
the importance of of it helping liver
(01:07:08)
and gall diet that
(01:07:10)
>> it's the worst.
(01:07:11)
>> Oh, the worst in the world. The poor old
(01:07:15)
the poor old liver and gallbladder. They
(01:07:17)
weren't doing anything. Yeah.
(01:07:19)
>> Cuz there's no fat to make any bile.
(01:07:21)
Well, I know in the Western world all
(01:07:22)
the emphasis like most everybody is
(01:07:24)
sweet and salty, right? But it's bitter
(01:07:26)
and sour that have mo most of these
(01:07:28)
medicinal benefits.
(01:07:30)
>> They do. And there's the null saying
(01:07:31)
bitter to the mouth, sweet to the
(01:07:33)
stomach, sweet to the liver. Sweet to
(01:07:35)
the mouth, bitter to the stomach, bitter
(01:07:37)
to the liver. So all your liver herbs
(01:07:39)
are bitter herbs. So that digestive tea
(01:07:42)
mix, we affectionately call it dig tea.
(01:07:45)
[laughter]
(01:07:45)
>> Oh yeah.
(01:07:46)
>> And we make up a whole batch of it and
(01:07:48)
heat it up. We've we've seen remarkable
(01:07:51)
results. I myself suffered from anemia
(01:07:54)
for many many years and I realized my
(01:07:57)
first husband was a drug addict and an
(01:07:59)
alcoholic. So life was a little
(01:08:01)
stressful
(01:08:02)
>> and even when I was a single mother for
(01:08:05)
four years still I suffered from anemia
(01:08:08)
and this is a huge journey. They
(01:08:11)
>> they said Barbara you you must be
(01:08:13)
bleeding somewhere. you have to have an
(01:08:15)
esophagoscopy, a colonoscopy.
(01:08:18)
And I only went and had all these
(01:08:20)
because I was under so much pressure, a
(01:08:23)
single mother with six children, but it,
(01:08:26)
you know, there was nothing wrong there.
(01:08:28)
And then I just had to work it out for
(01:08:30)
myself. So I went to my anatomy and
(01:08:31)
physiology books and I studied iron and
(01:08:35)
iron is bound up in food and it needs
(01:08:38)
acid to free it
(01:08:40)
>> and your feritin levels which are iron
(01:08:43)
stored it your iron is stored with
(01:08:46)
protein but if your hydrochloric acid
(01:08:48)
levels are down you don't have enough
(01:08:50)
protein
(01:08:51)
>> and I thought my problem's low
(01:08:52)
hydrochloric acid
(01:08:54)
>> so I put that tea together
(01:08:56)
>> to boost my hydrochloric acid levels
(01:08:59)
>> wow
(01:08:59)
>> and After 6 months, I had another blood
(01:09:02)
test.
(01:09:03)
My h my hemoglobin was 15. [laughter]
(01:09:07)
My feritin levels were way way up. And
(01:09:12)
yet my feritin levels at one point were
(01:09:14)
three. My hemoglobin levels at one point
(01:09:16)
were five. So that's how low I used to
(01:09:20)
get. All I did was boost my hydrochloric
(01:09:23)
acid. M
(01:09:24)
>> in fact in my book Self-H heal by Design
(01:09:26)
I've got a section on anemia and I've
(01:09:28)
got my story in the back of there
(01:09:31)
because it's a remarkable story. It was
(01:09:32)
just hydrochloric acid.
(01:09:34)
>> Yeah, that's incredible. It's
(01:09:35)
incredible. You know, one of the uh one
(01:09:38)
of the other conditions uh or groups of
(01:09:41)
conditions that are just growing really
(01:09:42)
rapidly today are neurological issues.
(01:09:45)
Alzheimer's is a big one. Have you seen
(01:09:48)
any good results with Alzheimer's
(01:09:50)
disease in terms of diet, supplements,
(01:09:52)
treatments that that that you recommend?
(01:09:55)
>> You know, we have and much depends on
(01:09:57)
why.
(01:09:58)
>> Yeah.
(01:09:58)
>> So, in England, you've got the history
(01:10:01)
of Margaret Thatcher. You've got also in
(01:10:03)
the US Ronald Reagan who boasted that
(01:10:06)
they only needed 5 hours sleep a night
(01:10:08)
and yet they spent the last 20 years
(01:10:09)
with severe Alzheimer's dementia.
(01:10:13)
>> And now the research, especially uh Dr.
(01:10:15)
Matthew Walker in his book while we
(01:10:17)
sleep he shows that it's in the early
(01:10:19)
hours of the night the glimpmphatic
(01:10:22)
system that's made up of gly cells
(01:10:24)
cleans up any little beginnings of amoid
(01:10:27)
plaques.
(01:10:27)
>> Yeah.
(01:10:28)
>> And of course what they have found in
(01:10:30)
people with dementia doing postmortems
(01:10:33)
on they've all got these amoid plaques
(01:10:35)
these calcified deposits. So I think if
(01:10:38)
Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan had
(01:10:40)
known that they would have gone to bed
(01:10:42)
early.
(01:10:42)
>> Yeah. See, it's in the early hours of
(01:10:44)
the night. This lymphatic system keeps a
(01:10:47)
check check on a lot.
(01:10:49)
>> I'm not saying all Alzheimer's is due to
(01:10:52)
lack of sleep, but it's a huge factor.
(01:10:55)
We had one lady, she came to our retreat
(01:10:57)
with Alzheimer's. If someone comes with
(01:10:59)
Alzheimer's, they have to come with a
(01:11:00)
carer.
(01:11:01)
>> Yeah.
(01:11:01)
>> Cuz we're not a hospital.
(01:11:03)
>> And she was 69. And when I looked at
(01:11:06)
her, she just looked through me beyond
(01:11:09)
me. And I discovered she didn't drink
(01:11:12)
water. and she her bowels hadn't opened
(01:11:13)
for six days. So, we gave her herbs to
(01:11:15)
get the bowels moving, got her hydrated.
(01:11:18)
Within 48 hours, there was no sign of
(01:11:20)
Alzheimer's or dementia.
(01:11:22)
>> Wow.
(01:11:22)
>> That was an easy fix. It's not always an
(01:11:24)
easy fix.
(01:11:26)
>> So, that it it's different.
(01:11:28)
>> Yeah.
(01:11:28)
>> You know, just different strokes for
(01:11:30)
different folks is the is the saying.
(01:11:33)
>> Well, yeah. I love you sharing this
(01:11:34)
because one one of the things it reminds
(01:11:35)
me of is when you when we look at our
(01:11:39)
bodies, we have this body clock, right?
(01:11:41)
We're connected to the earth with this
(01:11:42)
with these circadian rhythms. And there
(01:11:44)
are different times according to these
(01:11:46)
ancient forms of medicine where
(01:11:48)
different organs are the most active.
(01:11:52)
And you know that 11:00 a.m. time period
(01:11:54)
to to to three that's like liver,
(01:11:56)
gallbladder, you have that 3 to 7,
(01:11:59)
that's more the colon, the lungs, the
(01:12:01)
entire immune system. But there are
(01:12:03)
times where the brain needs to
(01:12:04)
regenerate and heal the most. It does.
(01:12:06)
And those hours you're talking about uh
(01:12:08)
with with lack of sleep, your body
(01:12:10)
cannot regenerate and heal if you're not
(01:12:12)
getting rest.
(01:12:13)
>> That is right. So there's not only the
(01:12:14)
cleaning system, but melatonin and
(01:12:16)
melatonin is very interesting because
(01:12:18)
melatonin is released by our gut flora.
(01:12:21)
>> Yeah.
(01:12:22)
>> So we're getting back to the gut again.
(01:12:24)
>> Yeah. So the melatonin is released
(01:12:27)
between say here summertime 1000 p.m.
(01:12:30)
and 3:00 a.m. In the winter time between
(01:12:32)
9:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. Melatonin is
(01:12:35)
called the fix and rejuvenate nighttime
(01:12:37)
hormone. So it's melatonin that's
(01:12:39)
responsible for the increase in healing
(01:12:43)
regeneration in those early hours before
(01:12:46)
midnight and just after midnight. Now,
(01:12:48)
what do you think the biggest reasons
(01:12:49)
are that I mean cortisol and melatonin
(01:12:52)
as hormones are incredibly imbalanced
(01:12:54)
and they're causing all these other
(01:12:55)
hormonal issues and healing issues. What
(01:12:57)
are the root of those issues being out
(01:12:58)
of balance and how can people bring
(01:13:00)
those back into balance? Do
(01:13:01)
>> you know there's an old saying of people
(01:13:03)
burning the candle at both ends?
(01:13:05)
>> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah. Yeah.
(01:13:07)
>> And really that's what it is. Instead of
(01:13:10)
instead of having that nightly rest,
(01:13:12)
people are pushing themselves pushing
(01:13:14)
themselves. I love I love God's perfect
(01:13:18)
formula in that eight hours to work,
(01:13:20)
eight hours to play, eight hours to
(01:13:22)
sleep.
(01:13:22)
>> Yeah.
(01:13:23)
>> And that's that's what I aim to Right
(01:13:25)
now we're playing. To me, this is fun.
(01:13:27)
>> This is fun. This is fun.
(01:13:29)
>> So the So it's it's getting back to
(01:13:32)
proper sleep. But also, you got to have
(01:13:34)
your lights out. You got to have all
(01:13:36)
technology out of your bedroom. You got
(01:13:37)
to have an open window. You got to be
(01:13:40)
sleeping in natural fiber. None of this
(01:13:42)
polyester kn I recently, not recent, a
(01:13:45)
few years ago, I switched almost on
(01:13:48)
occasion certain dress clothes I don't.
(01:13:49)
But all my clothes now are wool. Almost
(01:13:52)
everything. I have a little bit of
(01:13:52)
organic cotton, but almost everything
(01:13:54)
now is wool that I wear because the
(01:13:57)
Bible talks about this too, right? Not
(01:13:58)
combining two. Yeah.
(01:14:00)
>> When I was in Scotland last year, I had
(01:14:02)
a security guard around me the whole
(01:14:04)
time for this big event. His name's Alex
(01:14:07)
and his ex-marine. He said, "You know,
(01:14:09)
all the Marines now, their underwear,
(01:14:11)
their boxer shorts, their their under
(01:14:14)
t-shirts, all 100% marino."
(01:14:16)
>> Yeah.
(01:14:17)
>> It's really fine. You see in the sheep,
(01:14:20)
the wool at the neck is very very fine
(01:14:24)
and it's not prickly.
(01:14:26)
>> Yeah.
(01:14:26)
>> So, that's what they make the underwear
(01:14:28)
out of. Whereas the back, we make the
(01:14:31)
big thick woolly coats out of that, the
(01:14:33)
Aaron jumpers out of that. I don't want
(01:14:34)
to share too much, but I'm actually
(01:14:36)
wearing the, you know, marino underwear
(01:14:38)
right now. So, it's the best. Absolutely
(01:14:40)
the best.
(01:14:40)
>> Oh, it is. And I say to people, I'm only
(01:14:43)
little and I get cold quickly, so I
(01:14:45)
borrow from the sheep. And I love this.
(01:14:47)
This is Kashmir. That's wonderful.
(01:14:50)
That's particularly soft. So,
(01:14:52)
>> when when you wear natural fiber,
(01:14:55)
especially the wool, and the reason why
(01:14:57)
the Marines like it is it dries so
(01:15:00)
quickly.
(01:15:01)
>> Yes. and they can wear it for 5 days
(01:15:03)
when they're out on patrol
(01:15:05)
>> and it doesn't smell.
(01:15:06)
>> No, because it's breathing and it dries
(01:15:08)
quickly and they don't chill if they get
(01:15:10)
wet.
(01:15:12)
>> Why do you think you've become such an
(01:15:14)
an international phenomenon to the point
(01:15:17)
to where you're speaking at certain
(01:15:18)
events, you have marine bodyguards,
(01:15:20)
people there protecting you? Why why do
(01:15:23)
you think your message has resonated
(01:15:25)
with so many people? I think because
(01:15:28)
it's simple and I think because it's
(01:15:30)
reachable. And probably my most famous
(01:15:32)
is put a crystal of Celtic salt or Baja
(01:15:35)
salt on your tongue and drink a glass of
(01:15:37)
water. That one's just gone viral. And
(01:15:39)
you know why I think it's gone viral cuz
(01:15:42)
you can do it.
(01:15:43)
>> You can do it at home. You don't have to
(01:15:45)
pay a doctor. You can Yeah. Yeah. That's
(01:15:47)
the thing that I so appreciate about
(01:15:48)
everything you put out is is that I can
(01:15:50)
go into my pantry. I can go to my local
(01:15:52)
farmer. I can, you know, go to my
(01:15:54)
grocery store. I can just Yeah. open up
(01:15:55)
my cabinet and there's medicine there
(01:15:58)
>> that that's inexpensive that I don't
(01:16:00)
have to pay thousands of dollars of
(01:16:01)
insurance or this or it doesn't have a
(01:16:03)
side effect.
(01:16:04)
>> That's right. It's so simple. It's a
(01:16:05)
reachable thing. It's something that
(01:16:07)
everyone can do. I think that's why it's
(01:16:11)
so popular.
(01:16:12)
>> You know, I I think one of the things
(01:16:13)
that's happened today in mainstream
(01:16:14)
medicine, by the way, when you look at
(01:16:15)
the statistics, mainstream medicine
(01:16:18)
today is the le people trust it trust it
(01:16:21)
less than they ever have by far in
(01:16:23)
history. Do you know? I hope so.
(01:16:25)
>> I really hope so. I'm not against
(01:16:28)
doctors. Some of my best friends are
(01:16:29)
doctors and I'm sure you'll be one of my
(01:16:31)
best friends now.
(01:16:33)
>> That that I think most doctors are
(01:16:35)
ethical,
(01:16:36)
>> but the pharmaceutical company is not.
(01:16:39)
That's right.
(01:16:39)
>> And you can testify to this more than I
(01:16:41)
can that a large part of what you learn
(01:16:44)
in medicine today is pharmarmacology.
(01:16:47)
>> Well, yeah. Yeah. And and you know I
(01:16:49)
would also say this is that it's uh the
(01:16:53)
to your point a lot of doctors do have
(01:16:55)
good intentions but but the most doctors
(01:16:58)
get zero hours of nutrition training
(01:17:00)
MDs. Now I have I have a DC training so
(01:17:02)
we did get some nutrition training. Uh
(01:17:04)
and we had a little little
(01:17:05)
pharmarmacology but not near as much as
(01:17:07)
as a as a full-on MD. But the problem is
(01:17:10)
zero zero nutrition. The only thing they
(01:17:13)
learn is how to diagnose common things
(01:17:16)
and prescribe drugs for them or do a
(01:17:18)
surgery. So there's no nutrition,
(01:17:19)
there's no herbs, there's no lifestyle.
(01:17:21)
You know, you know how many times I've
(01:17:22)
had patients who um have come to me it
(01:17:25)
and it used to be where they would
(01:17:27)
because I practice natural medicine,
(01:17:29)
they would come see me after they've
(01:17:30)
already seen 10 different doctors,
(01:17:31)
right? And you've probably have the same
(01:17:33)
thing. It's like they've been to all
(01:17:34)
these doctors, finally they're
(01:17:35)
desperate, and then they go they go see
(01:17:37)
you. But so often um I would have I
(01:17:40)
would ask them what their doctor told
(01:17:42)
them to do and most of the time it was
(01:17:44)
just take a drug. You know the average
(01:17:46)
doctor visit is seven minutes. That's
(01:17:49)
the visit. You know how much time they
(01:17:51)
look at the file for one minute. So how
(01:17:53)
can a doctor ever know you and treat you
(01:17:55)
correctly when it's like okay
(01:17:58)
hypothyroid oh maybe thyroid okay here's
(01:18:00)
a here's a
(01:18:01)
>> oh it's on the computer. They just click
(01:18:02)
click click click and the computer will
(01:18:04)
tell them what drug to give. But I I
(01:18:08)
going back to that Psalm 146, put not
(01:18:10)
your trust in princes. I believe the the
(01:18:13)
doctors should stop putting their trust
(01:18:15)
in the pharmaceutical company.
(01:18:17)
>> Oh, that's so good.
(01:18:18)
>> They must stop because they trust that
(01:18:22)
they've done the research. And we've
(01:18:24)
seen it in the paper many times, the
(01:18:26)
whistleblower, they're they're not doing
(01:18:28)
the testing. They're not. I want to say
(01:18:30)
the five largest lawsuits ever in the
(01:18:34)
United States are for pharmaceutical
(01:18:37)
companies hiding evidence that their
(01:18:39)
drug was killing people. There was a
(01:18:40)
drug called Vio. Now, this was probably
(01:18:42)
15 years ago, but it killed almost now
(01:18:45)
some people say it's more than this, a
(01:18:46)
100,000 people, one drug alone. And so,
(01:18:49)
but but you know, again, there's so much
(01:18:51)
money behind this, but I think because
(01:18:52)
of one thing I do appreciate about
(01:18:54)
social media is that people want to know
(01:18:57)
the truth.
(01:18:58)
>> Yeah. And I think co coming out of that
(01:19:00)
more people than ever realized, oh, I've
(01:19:02)
been lied to. So if I've been lied to
(01:19:03)
about CO,
(01:19:05)
>> what else have I been lied to about all
(01:19:07)
this time? And so then people sort of
(01:19:09)
wake up and become more aware and then
(01:19:11)
they [clears throat] start searching
(01:19:12)
out, you know, the truth.
(01:19:15)
>> And a very similar thing happens at our
(01:19:17)
health retreat.
(01:19:18)
>> At our health retreat, people start
(01:19:21)
doing the juicing, natural remedies, and
(01:19:24)
they're getting responses. and say, "You
(01:19:26)
know what? They think they're right on
(01:19:28)
the health. Maybe they're right on God."
(01:19:31)
>> That's right.
(01:19:32)
>> And that and that's what we love.
(01:19:34)
>> Yeah. I love that as well. You know, I I
(01:19:36)
had a spinal infection a few years ago
(01:19:38)
from just a minor medical procedure went
(01:19:40)
wrong and um and it was it was a natural
(01:19:43)
procedure using my own cells and I got
(01:19:45)
my my my disc got infected and then my
(01:19:47)
bone and then I had an absess in my
(01:19:49)
spinal cord. I had a doctor tell me an
(01:19:51)
infectious disease doctor you're he he
(01:19:53)
told me this. He said, "Your best case
(01:19:55)
scenario is you have chronic pain the
(01:19:57)
rest of your life." And he said, "In all
(01:19:59)
likelihood, you're going to be
(01:19:59)
permanently disabled or have to fuse
(01:20:01)
your spine." This is 3 years ago. And I
(01:20:03)
remember for just a short time thinking
(01:20:05)
like 24 hours my life is over. And then
(01:20:07)
I realized, you know what, the great
(01:20:08)
physician is better than this physician.
(01:20:11)
And I just meditated on Bible verses day
(01:20:13)
and night. Like, you know, one one in
(01:20:14)
particular, um, I want to think it's
(01:20:16)
it's Psalms maybe 102, and it was,
(01:20:18)
"Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget
(01:20:20)
not all of his benefits. who healed, who
(01:20:22)
forgives all of our sins, heals all of
(01:20:24)
our diseases. 103. And I just meditated
(01:20:27)
on that verse day and night and day and
(01:20:29)
night. And you know what? I have zero
(01:20:31)
pain. I'm healed. I'm healthier than I
(01:20:33)
was before.
(01:20:33)
>> You claim the promises. And now you'll
(01:20:36)
know that all you have to do is put a
(01:20:38)
pus on it.
(01:20:39)
>> Yeah. Yeah. I actually did some draw.
(01:20:42)
It'll draw that out.
(01:20:43)
>> You know, I did I did I did picuses. I
(01:20:45)
did a lot of hyperaric chamber. That was
(01:20:47)
I was blown away at the benefits of and
(01:20:50)
and I didn't know you did that. So So
(01:20:51)
you've you've utilized hyperbear
(01:20:53)
chamber. Oh yeah.
(01:20:54)
>> What are the benefits? How what do you
(01:20:56)
>> Well, it's based on Henry's law that
(01:20:58)
under pressure more gas goes into a
(01:21:01)
liquid
(01:21:02)
>> and of course the gas is pure oxygen and
(01:21:04)
the liquid is is our blood which is the
(01:21:06)
oxygen character
(01:21:08)
>> um carrier. And so being in that
(01:21:11)
hyperbaric chamber you're getting blast
(01:21:13)
of oxygen.
(01:21:14)
>> Yeah. And and one thing I've heard you
(01:21:15)
quote before I want to say was Otto
(01:21:16)
Warberg, right? And he said that the
(01:21:18)
cause of cancer is it's really twofold.
(01:21:20)
It's excess sugar and not enough oxygen
(01:21:23)
in the body.
(01:21:23)
>> Cancer cannot live in the presence of
(01:21:26)
oxygen.
(01:21:27)
>> And so that's what they're finding. The
(01:21:29)
hyperbaric chamber was first developed
(01:21:31)
for divers with bends
(01:21:32)
>> because you know the air we breathe 79%
(01:21:35)
is nitrogen and the 21% is oxygen. So
(01:21:39)
the divers when they come up too quick
(01:21:41)
the the nitrogen can't be dispersed. It
(01:21:43)
goes into little bubbles in joints and
(01:21:46)
muscles and that's the bends. That's the
(01:21:47)
pain. So they developed the hyperbaric
(01:21:50)
chamber to put the divers in to blast
(01:21:53)
this oxygen in which disperses the
(01:21:55)
nitrogen and out it goes.
(01:21:57)
>> Wow. So that's why it was originally
(01:21:59)
developed for divers with bends. But
(01:22:01)
then they discovered that especially
(01:22:03)
diabetics with slow wound healing and
(01:22:05)
they're finding it's also helping cancer
(01:22:08)
patients because
(01:22:10)
>> and you know the glycolytic cycle in the
(01:22:12)
cell doesn't use oxygen but you get down
(01:22:14)
to the KB cycle in the mitochondria. It
(01:22:17)
uses oxygen. So that cycle will give 18
(01:22:20)
times more energy than the glycolytic
(01:22:22)
with no oxygen.
(01:22:24)
>> That's powerful. And you mentioned
(01:22:26)
certain conditions. I mean, yeah, it's
(01:22:27)
amazing for cancer. It's amazing for
(01:22:29)
stroke patients or people who have had
(01:22:32)
um any sort of brain trauma. I I use it
(01:22:34)
with a lot of families where the kids
(01:22:36)
have autism
(01:22:37)
>> and and and so so powerful. So, I love
(01:22:39)
that you're utilizing that as well. Um
(01:22:42)
Barbara, this has been a huge blessing.
(01:22:43)
Let me ask you this. What is your
(01:22:45)
favorite Bible verse when it comes to
(01:22:50)
health and healing?
(01:22:52)
>> That's very difficult. I know cuz you
(01:22:54)
quoted by by the way your your your
(01:22:56)
knowledge of scripture today has been uh
(01:22:58)
probably the thing I've been most
(01:23:00)
impressed with. Um and I I'm I I really
(01:23:02)
appreciate that.
(01:23:03)
>> I I love it. And it's uh it's um
(01:23:08)
Ecclesiastes chapter 3. It says to
(01:23:10)
everything there is a season and a time
(01:23:12)
for every purpose under heaven. A time
(01:23:15)
to be born and a time to die. A time to
(01:23:18)
plant, a time to pluck up that which was
(01:23:19)
planted. A time to kill and a time to
(01:23:22)
heal. A time to break down. A time to
(01:23:25)
build up. A time to weep and a time to
(01:23:27)
laugh. A time to mourn and a time to
(01:23:29)
dance.
(01:23:30)
>> A time to cast away stones. A time to
(01:23:33)
gather stones together. A time to
(01:23:35)
embrace. A time to refrain from
(01:23:37)
embracing. A time to get and a time to
(01:23:39)
lose. A time to keep and a time to cast
(01:23:41)
away. A time to ren. A time to sow. A
(01:23:45)
time to keep silence and a time to
(01:23:47)
speak. A time to love. a time to hate, a
(01:23:50)
time of war, and a time of peace. There
(01:23:52)
is a season and a time for every purpose
(01:23:55)
under heaven. I love that verse because
(01:23:57)
you can apply it so much to the healing
(01:24:00)
of the human body and there is a season
(01:24:04)
and a time for every purpose. I say to
(01:24:07)
people, there's a t there's a time for
(01:24:09)
you to exercise.
(01:24:10)
>> Yeah.
(01:24:10)
>> There's a time for you to sleep.
(01:24:12)
>> Yeah.
(01:24:13)
>> So, timing and you mentioned earlier
(01:24:15)
circadium rhythm.
(01:24:16)
>> Whoa. You know what's the best circadium
(01:24:18)
rhythm setter? Sunshine.
(01:24:21)
>> Yeah.
(01:24:21)
>> And that's what I do to get over jet
(01:24:23)
lag. So, yes, it was very hard for me to
(01:24:27)
choose a verse to give you. And I'm
(01:24:29)
sorry I gave you more than one verse. I
(01:24:31)
>> It was a bless. And if if anybody wants
(01:24:32)
to know what Barbara does in her spare
(01:24:34)
time, it's [laughter] not it's not
(01:24:35)
scroll social media. It's memorize
(01:24:37)
scripture, which is way more healing,
(01:24:39)
way more more healthy. Well, Barbara, uh
(01:24:41)
this was such an honor today. I am so
(01:24:44)
grateful for the incredible work you've
(01:24:45)

(01:24:52)
and just so grateful for you taking a
(01:24:54)
lot of these complex matters and making
(01:24:56)
them simple, free in a lot of cases for
(01:24:59)
so many people. So, thanks so much for
